@@MrHav1k I agree with a lot of the opinions in the video - the car is not an M3 and it’s not meant for the track the M550 is a high-performance daily driver. If you want something comfortable and luxurious to commute in they can also turn into a beast with lots of room for passengers and cargo this car is amazing. Ideally you have one of these as a daily and a 911 as your weekend toy! Still still working on the other half of that equation. 😜
He really blew this one! The standard M550 is fantastic for a car that you can get for under 75k. It’s faster than the outgoing M5. Who are these people who need over 600 HP for a daily driver? I track my GT3 but today you are going to jail for crazy speed. I did not mind excessive tickets as long as it was about money. It’s the price you pay. Today you are going to jail for anything over 30mph in most states. 40 over for sure. Most real drivers know that these people will never use these cars at anywhere near the limits. It’s just a way to say I could go fast if I want. Lastly the M550 does it in 3.8 to 60 meaning what are you paying for? A .01 improvement for the extra 25k?? The point of this is that you are going faster than the previous M5 while you can drive it on a daily basis in comfort mode. This thing is just a waste ! M5 money without M5 performance.

So you give M5 money for a modified bmw 5er thats not an M5, with less power all around, because apparently some new M5's on dynos have shown 620whp with similar torque, +/- some change, and while good, you're not getting an M5. Yeah I dont get this car, neither stock nor _especially_ modified. It would be a hellova deal used tho
It's going to be people who bought a 550 and then get hooked buying upgrades .. and then one day add up their receipts and realize they could've just got an M5.
Those 620WHP claims are highly debatable, considering another video showed it on a mustang dyno making 150AWHP less. The M5 is only better than the 550 if you plan on making it your #1 track day car. If not, the 550i is still awesome fun and stupid fast for a 73k price.
The 550 is a poor man’s M5.. trust me, it’s one of the ways to obtain the V-8 twin turbo without the 100k+ price tag.. also on the insurance, you save a bunch.. a 550 M-sport package used is a dream for us poor guys.
No more BMW/Dinan relationship. BMW warranty does not cover any Dinan modifications. Who knows a good company that makes a chip to increase my 2018 M550 horse power. im in Northern New Jersey
BMW took Mercedes' softness without pairing it to the snarling, characterful AMG V8 and completely lost their identity. It's really unfortunate. And since they switched to E-throttles, and implemented safety-minded understeer, they lost all the 'BMW' feel you used to find from the cheapest car they made, to the most expensive.
That’s the point of this car is comfort and sport and I love it and I like it a lot more then m5 honestly I love comfort in cars and add this much hp this is my car for sure
I love e 39M5 with v8 naturaly aspirated and bes t 6sped manual gearbox. I love it and in europe they are wery afortable. I curently drive 2001 audi s8 D2 6 manual gearbox. I yust love analog cars and it is fast too for its 4.2liter 345 horsepowers 5. 6sec 0-60 is sick 1780kg limosine. And with miltek sport auspuf and bmc CDA intake sounds like aston in mid range i love atmosferic v8s sound
A manual transmission really does help you feel connected to the car. P.s it's 'affordable' and 'atmospheric'. Pretty close though, I'm guessing English is not your first language.
I'd be more interested in a stock M550i review so we can cut out all the whining about the $100k price tag... Not that I could buy one new, but a 5yr old M550i will likely be about $40k, and that's something I'd be interested in.
Fast forward to 2023 and the M550 fully loaded is $95K and a similar optioned M5 is $120K, that's a serious step up in price. Also, the 2023 M550 now is 523hp and 553 lb-ft.
so basicly with just a tune you get 600 hp cause the exhaust and mid pip HP gains are negligible on these bmws. Finding a used one for 45k and throwing a bootmod3 on it sounds like a fun alternative to a m5 awd...
Im a welder fabricator. Lots of sweat and chafing. I literally put chassis on this morning and yesterday morning. Was hot here in LA. Anyways this shit works for yall who work or do outdoor activities. If your over rashes and chapped skin it will help.
Exactly and comfortable as hell and still pulls with a new M5 with a few bolt ons and its not a harsh ride like the M5. This is my DD and it does everything imo. Put Blizzacks on in winter and its a tank.Super luxurious
I don't think the reviewer understands the target market for this car, with or without Dinan upgrades. People who are interested in this car do not want a track weapon with the hard suspension and the super supportive seats for high G turns that make it hard to get in and out of the car. They want something fast that they can put into sport mode and have a blast on curvy roads. People spending this much are not looking for a budget M5 but rather a different vehicle. In any case even with improved suspension dynamics the M5 is just too heavy to be an ultimate track machine either. The reviewer is right that if this is what you want you should get an M4. Now I was disappointed that the reviewer did not seem to understand the driving modes. He wanted a sport+ kind of feeling but used adaptive instead. In this mode he should expect the softest ride that keeps the tires on the ground at all times. I think he should be using sport+ if he is going to complain about floating and body roll. It would have been a lot more informative to those of us who were interested in how effective the Dinan suspension mods were in dealing with twisty roads at speed. This is what I most wanted to hear as I had no concerns about Dinan delivering the power (I have an E39 6-spd with Dinan Supercharger). I'm sorry this is not the car the reviewer was clearly looking for but I think he missed the opportunity to enlighten us on the vehicles capabilities and shortcomings relative to what buyers would be expecting from it.
I got that new road runner exhaust set up with the 4 inch quad chrome tips. Also sporting a high flow mid pipe also come in pipe diameters of 2.5, 2.75 and 3 inches. Stop by your local auto zone and let me breath life into that exhaust 😂.
Matt, you've driven a couple non M 5 series. 2-E34s, a 540i/6 and my 535i, plus you did a E61 535i touring(which I also have as a DD). I think you should do a more normal cars, after all most of use need daily drivers for when our projects get out of control. And I agree that most 5s are boring cars. But they can be made to be special. Some can still be had with manual gearboxes. Kitted with the M sport package, they are quite nice. I really enjoy owning the last of the north American wagons, which they should bring back because those are special cars, as it has almost no downsides.
You forgot how much it costs to Maintain the car. The M5 costs almost double what it costs to maintain a M550... also thank you Dinan for letting me cruise in that missile when you guys brought it to my dealer 🙌🏼
I wanna get the 2019 and put some mod on it I like the full gage cluster in 2019 or 2020 this has full screen too but I don’t like those round lines I like it to be a full digital anyways yeah 2019 I think got full digital or the late 2019 bmw they are amazing car for the price honestly you got m5 for half price with little bit km on it 2019 I seen for 60k Canadian and only 29k on it which is nothing basically new so I’m going for that and this car got comfort m5 doesn’t have as much so this car is just great got little bit of everything and I prefer this over m5 any day
Great video. I’ve driven the regular 550 I XDrive on the track at Monticello on a Press day. It’s a nice luxury daily but it’s no sports car. Not worth $100k. The F90 M5 will be a beast, my video of it drops tomorrow.
Matt - how did this stack up against the F10 M5's you've driven? You can pickup a low mileage barely used F10 M5 for a fraction of the cost of a new M550i. Yes, there is no AWD, the car is starting to look dated, and the tech is already obsolete -BUT it is a true M car and it has more HP out of the box and with mods will make even more. Keep up the great work!
How much is an Alpina B5 in the US? That has 608 hp, 800 Nm and a 205 mph top speed, so looks to be almost like this car but with nicer details in the interior.
'sports sedans' have become so insulated, substantial(i.e. HEAVY) and the chassis so competent that sense-of-speed is reduced by a third or more vs a small sports car. i'd want a loud /quiet selectable exhaust for when I'm on it, as sound is the main(and often, the only) indicator that the car is working any harder.
off topic but did you guys see how ugly the 2019 Camaro is ? They ruined any design uniformity the car had, it looks like they plastered a Accord front end on and the emblem is on the bumper. It look like a giant insect i want to slap with a shoe.
Cool i'll check it out, i have a 18 i4 because it was only $22 out the door but planed to upgrade to a SS but not now, resale just went up on the 16-18.
its so much lighter only 3,300lbs instead of 3,800lbs, we went with the i4 over the v6 because there nothing you can really do to the v6 to get more power out of it, the LTG 2.0L is forged stock and with a $400 tune bumps it to 315HP and add a $2k ZFR turbo it'll make 375hp to 400hp on pump gas which is SS power to weight. And total cost is still under $25k so thats a killer deal, im keeping a eye out for a smashed SS i can scavenge the leather sport seats and probably the v8 because 450hp N/A is hard to pass up.only thing i hate is theres no where to set stuff like a phone, idk why.
I have problems with my chicken wings sticking together when I cook them. I will try coating them in this testicular powder to see if that fixes the problem. You’re a lifesaver Matt 👌🏽

Lmao, 😂😂😂, honestly no joke, that powder actually does work, summer is about here and keeping your nuts cool couldnt ask for a better powder to use, 😁👍👍
The engine power and exhaust might be an ok buy on the 550, and skip the rest of the stuff, maybe get a set of Super Sports for driving. When you add the rest of the stuff in, however, the equation leans M5...
I think brakes that big and suspension on that car already makes it much better then most that car screams handles and performs just because it isn’t horribly stiff and jerky pulling out of first and squeal every time you hit the brakes doesn’t mean it can’t be pushed to a ridiculous limit I owned both and I’ll never drop the money on an M car vs light “M” model 523hp to start I’d save the money ten times over

"I am a 270 lb Italian man who works a manual labor job. So I sweat, A LOT. By the end of the day, every time I squat down to grab something, I get punched in the face. Swamp balls and swamp ass. It's a scent that could kill a buck from 200 yards. I thought that was just my life. I accepted it as fate.
BUT TODAY FOLKS, I TELL YOU THAT THERE IS INDEED HOPE! A WAY FREE FROM PRODUCING A TOXIC CLOUD OF MUSK!
First day I put on this gift from the gods was the first day I didn't make paint peel or make women flee in terror. And the tingle sensation... divine. Thank you Chassis. You have given this man hope." - Justin Lucia (amazon reviewer)
NextDoorGuy if it uses same n63 from before it wont be a great buy used lol
And since they switched to E-throttles, and implemented safety-minded understeer, they lost all the 'BMW' feel you used to find from the cheapest car they made, to the most expensive.
truth has been told
it´s so fucking sad
The new M5 doesn't have a DCT, it has the same ZF 8 speed auto as the M550i
That’s the point of this car is comfort and sport and I love it and I like it a lot more then m5 honestly I love comfort in cars and add this much hp this is my car for sure
I love Dinan. But I also love Matt making sense of cars. Let’’em know how it is!
Miss informing the public as usual. Put the car in Sport Plus and drive it again. "Shake My Head!" - I wish these youtubers would do their homework.
Also it is exhaust not auspuf in English, not judging you for trying though
I'd be more interested in a stock M550i review so we can cut out all the whining about the $100k price tag... Not that I could buy one new, but a 5yr old M550i will likely be about $40k, and that's something I'd be interested in.
YES HE BROUGHT BACK THE CHASSIS AD MY AFTERNOON HAS BEEN MADE
Fast forward to 2023 and the M550 fully loaded is $95K and a similar optioned M5 is $120K, that's a serious step up in price. Also, the 2023 M550 now is 523hp and 553 lb-ft.
It has had that power since the 2020 year
I love that you can pick these up for under 40k now. And with catless DP’s and a full exhaust. Sheesh. Savage.
so basicly with just a tune you get 600 hp cause the exhaust and mid pip HP gains are negligible on these bmws. Finding a used one for 45k and throwing a bootmod3 on it sounds like a fun alternative to a m5 awd...
People don't buy brand new BMWs anymore waste of money 103k will be half that in like 2 years
Im a welder fabricator. Lots of sweat and chafing. I literally put chassis on this morning and yesterday morning. Was hot here in LA. Anyways this shit works for yall who work or do outdoor activities. If your over rashes and chapped skin it will help.
The 5 series has always been a highway king. Its made to be comfortable while driving faster than 99% of the rest. Its basically made for the autobahn
Exactly and comfortable as hell and still pulls with a new M5 with a few bolt ons and its not a harsh ride like the M5. This is my DD and it does everything imo. Put Blizzacks on in winter and its a tank.Super luxurious
I literally have never EVER considered buying something that was advertised on RUclips.... but damn, that was a hell of a good pitch
Why not just buy the M5 lol?? Spend all that money on the 550i plus the extra money on the Dinan package... You could have just got the M5.
Its not for people buying new... Its for me to pick up on the used market for 35k next year.
Stahl F30 And now this year!!
I got 1 2016 for 25k cad $ . Lol
@@deepsingh-xs2mm where in Canada are you? Where I'm at 2016s are still going for like 40k lol

Incredible that you can detach parts of your body to demonstrate the purpose of a product.
wait so you are commenting about not being as sporty but you are in wrong mode? sport instead of sport plus ?
Thanks for recommending chassis! Definitely going to pick some up. Didn’t realize before but wow what a great thing to have

Ball Powder for Mr. Spaghetti's Meatballs
I'm only here for the laugh at the beginning of the video, that made my day!
Excellent review larry Brigham. Thank you you are the only one thinking exactly what i was thinking while watching this terrible review.
Whats your opinion of a BMW m2 Vs e92 m3 competition package (manual vs manual or dct vs dct). Which would you take?
Is this a privately owned car or a press car/something like that?
DINAN's shop-built car.
TheSmokingTire thank you
Hey Matt! From the guy that waved, that day in the canyon, in the white 240Z.
hi!
🙋
Nice, I love the ball powder advertisements
"Expensive and Bland" is BMW's replacement slogan for "Ultimate driving machine".
You forgot how much it costs to Maintain the car. The M5 costs almost double what it costs to maintain a M550... also thank you Dinan for letting me cruise in that missile when you guys brought it to my dealer 🙌🏼
No, it does not. Clearly you have no clue what your talking about.
I wanna get the 2019 and put some mod on it I like the full gage cluster in 2019 or 2020 this has full screen too but I don’t like those round lines I like it to be a full digital anyways yeah 2019 I think got full digital or the late 2019 bmw they are amazing car for the price honestly you got m5 for half price with little bit km on it 2019 I seen for 60k Canadian and only 29k on it which is nothing basically new so I’m going for that and this car got comfort m5 doesn’t have as much so this car is just great got little bit of everything and I prefer this over m5 any day
It actually really helps my balls, 10/10 buy again
Damn 60fps looks hella crispy!!!
Title is misleading. Tell us more about to nut powder. Is there a need to vacuum after moisture is absorbed?
This is the car that the 3rd or 4th owner who get a deal on it, think the absolute WORLD of it.
lmao thank you for always brightening my day with your hilarious comments on these cars
Great video. I’ve driven the regular 550 I XDrive on the track at Monticello on a Press day. It’s a nice luxury daily but it’s no sports car. Not worth $100k. The F90 M5 will be a beast, my video of it drops tomorrow.
This lloks better than the M5, great review..."Yeshua/Jesus is the way"
Cool how many miles you get out of it before it turns into a large paper weight.... like 23k?
Hey Matt, are you sporting a Nomos? What´s ypur opinion on those?
Something about the new 5 series is kind of sedate looking... Delightful review ol' dryballz!
I love it when you get surprised by the speedo lol.
off topic but did you guys see how ugly the 2019 Camaro is ? They ruined any design uniformity the car had, it looks like they plastered a Accord front end on and the emblem is on the bumper. It look like a giant insect i want to slap with a shoe.
we just talked about that on the podcast with Kyle and James from NoBraking that's coming next week. Ugh.
Cool i'll check it out, i have a 18 i4 because it was only $22 out the door but planed to upgrade to a SS but not now, resale just went up on the 16-18.
Ah we’re all so let down. I woke up this morning and the new camaro is still fucked
I'll be Frank I'm Leary about using my name I like the i4 turbo Camaros. Look badass and turbo. Not a v8, but you already knew that 🤷🏽♂️
its so much lighter only 3,300lbs instead of 3,800lbs, we went with the i4 over the v6 because there nothing you can really do to the v6 to get more power out of it, the LTG 2.0L is forged stock and with a $400 tune bumps it to 315HP and add a $2k ZFR turbo it'll make 375hp to 400hp on pump gas which is SS power to weight. And total cost is still under $25k so thats a killer deal, im keeping a eye out for a smashed SS i can scavenge the leather sport seats and probably the v8 because 450hp N/A is hard to pass up.only thing i hate is theres no where to set stuff like a phone, idk why.
Is bmw moving the engine forwards?
Hi! I’m considering doing the dinan on mine as well. Have you had any issues on the tune after driving for a while?
I have problems with my chicken wings sticking together when I cook them. I will try coating them in this testicular powder to see if that fixes the problem. You’re a lifesaver Matt 👌🏽
Damn...That first Fly-By in this video
Amazing car, we don't much care for connectivity of our phone we leave that to the 4 ring VW and Chrysler. When you don't have a Boss you call people when you want to spend time with them, it's called enjoying life :)
The m5 is gonna be a greaaaaaat electric beast saloon
The new m5 was dino at 625 bhp to wheels. That’s roughly 700 to the crank. And car and driver tested its 0-60 at 2.8 and did the new e63s which did 2.9
No BHP is crank hp smfh u mean whp
Lmao, 😂😂😂, honestly no joke, that powder actually does work, summer is about here and keeping your nuts cool couldnt ask for a better powder to use, 😁👍👍
The M5 feels much more planted due in part to the fact the rear suspension is bolted directly on the rear subframe.
The engine power and exhaust might be an ok buy on the 550, and skip the rest of the stuff, maybe get a set of Super Sports for driving. When you add the rest of the stuff in, however, the equation leans M5...
new m5 has 8 speed auto, no more DCT
Matt you ever think about going back to some these reviews and reassessing the value for these cars now that they've depreciated?
You are nuts! Thanks for all the good vids
Pick and choose the options that you prefer...these press cars get loaded up to get good coverage
“This bottle is almost empty cause I use it”
Yeah on your lemons😂😂😂
M5 was measured at 631WHP and 854NM stock on 93 octane, so miles ahead of this for basically 5-10k more. No brainier honestly.
Yaaaaaas! The ball powder is back!
Please don’t tell me that howling noise are the wheels.
Man that Ford Gt review was great!
I spy Campari in your probably well stocked bar. Atta boy!
my bar looks like the grid of an F1 race in 1983!
I'm counting 6 champions and all the crazy turbos from that era. Must be one hell of a bar!
Matt is the man for taking care of our balls
Cars like this shouldn't be too loud. A hint of a distant thunder is enough.
Why is it so rewarding to see Matt trash this car?? Maybe refreshing is the word I'm looking for. BMW I miss you being great at everything you did!
Chassis is AMAZING, after riding motorcycles for 6 to 8 hours; you'll be pretty sweaty.
Isn't that what you want floaty from a luxury sedan... This is not a Miata.
I'm freezing in NY where is spring!
MBisFrenchy in LA it’s fkn summer super early again
It snowed in Ontario today and it's still below freezing, I'm so over it
Socal it's been 80+ since Monday.
