    I've used an old ryobi cordless angle grinder with one of their smaller amp hour batteries before, and it dies in like 3 minutes. Smaller batteries for angle grinders in general are just impractical. Cordless angle grinders are really best for cut off wheels where you need to cut stuff intermittently where it's not constantly running and draining the battery. If you need to do consistent grinding your best bet is to just get a corded version strictly for grinding, and then use the cordless one for cut-off work

    Good videos. I’ve made purchases based on your reviews. I had been watching them for a couple of years and one time I saw the Target parking lot in one and instantly recognized where that was. Lol. Good work!

    In my opinion 1.5ah batteries are only good for flashlights and impact drivers. They don't last very long and give the tool poor performance. They do help getting the tooI in smaller spaces .

    Funny this is exactly what happened to me. Site said they had it, wasn’t on the shelf, a regular employee said they didn’t have any. Went to the store manager and bugged him, he confirmed they had boxes of them but weren’t going to put them out “till they depleted their stock of the regular ones first.” Seems to be a HF thing. Whose going to buy the cheaper one when this is only like 20 bucks more!

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 года назад

      That’s crazy, that store manager should probably find a job elsewhere if they aren’t going to help a customer get what they want. The regular ones aren’t going anywhere, pretty much guarantee it I think.

    • @rjgmedia6298
      @rjgmedia6298 2 года назад

      @@DereksWorkshopAndProjects to be fair, I did get it, the manager got it for me no problem, he just meant they weren’t going to display them until the regular ones were mostly sold. But if someone came in and specifically asked for one like I did, he would gladly go get one.

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 года назад

      Ah, well still, I doubt that’s corporates intention. I don’t think they are planning on replacing the brushed with the brushless I think it is in addition to the brushed version.
      Come to think of it though, my store manager harassed me about it a little too. I told him what I wanted and he pointed at the brushed ones and I told him I already had two of those and wanted the brushless, then he went to the back. Slightly annoyed I might say. B once he found them I think he realized I knew what I was talking about and happily gave me one.

    Thanks for the review. This will probably be my next Bauer purchase. Good to see u test on the smaller battery. I have the Porter Cable 20v as well, it’s brushed, and similar experience with small battery, so seems consistent with these home DIYer 20v lines. - but the bigger battery helps in the grinder. The brushless oscillating tool is great, too!

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 года назад +1

      Ya this grinder is seriously miles better than the brushed version, I don't know how you could get much better than it. Would be interested in the oscillating tool.

      @@DereksWorkshopAndProjects I picked up the grinder today. That oscillating tool is on sale this week if you're in the Inside Track club. Compared to my 20v Porter Cable, the Bauer brushless oscillating tool seems quite a bit better.

    I almost, ALMOST purchased the Hercules version of this grinder. I much prefer a paddle handle (which the Herc. has) rather than the dedicated on/off button. However… The Makita brushless version was only $20(ish) more expensive and I decided to go w/ it. But I still pick up the Herc. every time I go in The Freight. Maybe I’ll purchase it as a backup? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 года назад +3

      That's my whole problem with the Hercules brand is that its (generally) barely cheaper than the real name brand stuff, I'd rather just have name brand, but Bauer is CHEAP comparatively.

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  Год назад

      At the time of filming this, yes, now days I have a split shop. The connex is my metal working shop. Welding only. And a 10x20 portable shed (it’s came with the house I bought) holds the mechanics tools, wood tools, chainsaw, etc. it’s where I do any non-welding/fabrication projects. And with any luck this situation will change here in the next year or so too. I want to move to 2 connex buildings split by a covered work area and making the shed my farm and garden storage.

    So I have a brushed Bauer angle grinder. Was wanting to get a second but was leaning towards Milwaukee on the second one because I have More Milwaukee batteries, but honestly I can get this brushless Bauer and another 5ah battery for less than the Milwaukee tool only. Do you (or anyone reading this comment) have any experience with both brushless models to convince me one way or the other

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  Год назад

      I’ve used the Milwaukee, never owned it though. Only used it on job sites with other plumbers. The Bauer is good. It’s really good. But I don’t know. I’d maybe try and find some comparisons on RUclips or a least compare specs. Also, Bauer is good, but Milwaukee is usually just a bit better if not more.

    Hot glue gun is a no go with the 1.5AH battery. So frustrating. I get MAYBE six heat-ups (turning it back off as soon as the light turns green) then the stupid thing is flat. Worst tool to find out you can't use because you have a dead battery, I don't have anything else that does what a glue gun does.
