- Today I visit an aircraft manufacturing company BEA Systems - with DJ Audits.
When security arrived they didn't like us videoing the site, and said that they would take our equipment off of us if we insisted on filming the site.

That manager was a top bloke , deserves a very generous pay increase and a possible promotion to make sure managers of various sites are up to scratch .

I always feel sorry for the poor untrained security guys who are given false information with regards to the law, given a hi-viz and told to exert their 'power' on the public!
The security license training should include relevant laws.
The problem is that security, like policing, doesn’t rely on the officers knowing laws, it relies on the publics ignorance of laws.

Good to see you back PJ, and another great video with DJ, I am not going to be too harsh on the security man ( Foggy ) but I wish they stop being deluded and saying you can't video even from the outside bla bla bla and we will confiscate your equipment, They really need to be updated and learn that they can't stop members of public outside on public land. As for the manager what a decent enough guy he was and very professional so massive WELL DONE to him.

Security was friendly enough but clueless about the laws of the land. The BAE manager was professional and friendly and knew that company policies don't override UK laws. Well done the manager.

Tell DJ that I paid £979 for the Mini 4 combo kit, from Wex Photo. The mini 3 batteries will fit & work in the Mini 4…. but mini 3 batteries are slightly heavier so you won’t be able to use them ( legally)

No you can use them but rules on where and around who changes
I remember growing up opposite this factory in the 70's and 80's when it employed 5-6000 people and all the site was British Aerospace only. We used to see airframes going in and out and the wind tunnels were very active with testing. The runway you saw used to run a lot further up. In fact it used to run almost up to the large pond which did allow for planes to takeoff and land. The pond was owned by Blackburn Angling and the employees used to fish there while also having open competitions and Juvenile competitions.
All the security guards used to be ex forces however that may not be the case now.
Nice video and very nostalgic. Strange to see it how it is now as I remember it when there was literally a stream of people coming in all the time from the train station which is about a 5 min walk from where you were filming on Saltgrounds Road.
It's a tricky balance to strike, having one person speak at a time, maintaining a friendly manner with two auditors and avoiding a sense of intimidation. I think your teamwork has improved.

I love how they all become law professors when they what they say is gibberish.
The law is if you can see it from public land you can film it, they don't have the power to confiscate equipment.
Least his manager was clued up, but that guard needs to go back to school.
Foggy was a bit foggy but the manager was absolutely brilliant,a real man who respects people and their rights.

When I worked there in the mid 80's security was the corps of commissionaires. Worked on phantom and buccaneer repairs and spares.

Hawks aircraft were built there and the use to fly them from Brough to Warton but flying ended in the 90's and BAe at Brough now build component parts for the Hawk T.2.
The Hawk on display is a Hawk T.2.
Yeh, i did 7yr in the Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of Wellingtons) down Warminster (Battlesbury Barracks). I was a gunner/driver for the warriors. I'm pretty sure there's a BAE systems situated on Salisbury Plain, amongst other buildings. Think they make ammunition. Keep up the good work guys 👍

I've got happy memories of working at that site. when I helped with the IT infrastructure part of a site move for a valve manufacturing company.
From memory I drove straight on and off site without any security intervention. I don't know if they've tightened up security since then?
I drove on site with my dashcam on. Making it the usual thing of no-one batting an eye at certain types of filming whilst having a strong reaction to other types of filming.
What makes the old boy think you cant film, surely there would be some sort of boundary or fence with signs up saying “no photography from this point”.
you cant have a site visible from public including a static aircraft on display and then claim no filming. That’s entrapment.
