I don't recall ever seeing someone adjust for average FG%, but it is clearly and intuitively required to be compared with modern stats. The rules around goaltending also used to be different, and blocks were not counted, so who knows how many goaltends Wilt, for example, got every year that were counted as _rebounds_ instead (provided that he could secure the rebound himself after stuffing the shot). Some people think he may have averaged 10 blocks per game in his prime, which makes that discussion really interesting, imo. They are definitely two of the very greatest rebounders in history and no one will scoff at you for saying they're 1 and 2, but there's a reason that people compare them to more modern players like Moses Malone, Dennis Rodman, etc. Elgin Baylor is from the same era as Russell and Wilt, and he grabbed an average of 13.5 rebounds per game for his career at the SF position, peaking at 19.8 for a single season.
