I am autistic and find certain things difficult even such as steering . I have had over 70 lessons and 4 different instructors. They have never even talked about the push and pull method . Thankyou very much Robert marriott
Even some of the videos are 4years ago, I found they are still helpful for a new driver like me!! And some of the videos has updated last year. All videos are clearly demonstrated and well explained. Its so helpful!! Thanks for sharing !!
Just had my very first driving lesson last week and I had a bit of hard time to steer.😅 I thought I was the only one but not after watching this video. This is so helpful!
Thankyou for this video. Im having the opposite situation where my first instructor told me the classic to steer with two hands and my new instructor is encouraging me to change to one hand and its been feeling uncomfortable and making me more anxious. This validated that there are many ways and its positive to practice multiple ways until you feel confident and find whaat works best for you. My test is in two weeks so this is going to be part of the preparation!!
When I started my drivers class literally I was told to just drive. When we did I was all over the place. I was close to park cars and had to jerk over 😂 but I do think at the end I was getting the hang of it. In the end I didn't stay with that school and took a long break from learning how to drive. I am researching before I start classes and this video gave lots of good tips on steering and I will try to remember them.
Similar thing happened to me I was pretty close to parked cars and when I went on for a left turn my parent told me I needed to go right and I ended up taking a sharp right in the middle of going left and i hit a parked car
I am adapted steering 12:52 and. Very very Technical steering veteran I use to work for target 12:52 teaching technical steering the shopping carts around hairpins threading a needle small tight zigzags Cause I got sooo popular in Massachusetts Westboro target for my technical steering And. Precision steering as well
Thank you so much for your videos. My instructor would complain about my steering control but after videos your videos. I went for my lesson and he was so happy 😊 Thank you so much 🙏
Great video I had my first lesson back after nearly 3 years of no lessons and I am comfortable using the one hand but was told I'd fail a test for doing it
Thanks alot for that explanation it has helped me have a better understanding now. I find it very difficult turning corners or going on to a side road have you done a video on that or could you because I'm turning to early or too late.
Lesson Number 1.- never steer when the car is not moving as you will damage the car front tyres and what is worse the transmission will not last to many years and depends the car you drive how much it will cost to fix it. Lesson Number 2 .- Pull Push steering is the best way to use steering wheel for normal driving situations but for those times when you need to steer fast like Reverse or angle parking or 3 point turn hand over hand is a much better way of steering , more ways you know how to use steering wheel the safer you will be. Lesson Number 3.- when you steer put your thumbs outside the wheel not in the inside. Lesson 4.- the tool most important in driving is your observation, keep your eyes moving all the time , look what is happening few metres in front of you and look as far as you can see to be more in control of what is coming ahead that way you will be able to have early decisions , learn to use the driver psychology think in “what about if “ to prevent stressful situations, when an accident happen is because one driver broke the rules and the other one took it for granted. I can go on and on but I think this is enough for todays lesson.
Try to straighten out your wheel before you are parallel with the road Try to practice changing gears while turning a corner one hand on the wheel Take bigger chunks to turn the wheel so you can get a sharper turn.
Thanks so much for making this video. Sometimes it's the simplest things that make the biggest difference, I never thought about turns of the wheel in terms of minutes and this will surely benefit me. Secondly, I was watching your interview and was wondering if you could do a parallel park demo in a video in its own right please? I have looked through your other videos and can't find one, thanks again for your excellent presentations.
Hey Tina thanks for the comment! I did a full parallel parking lesson with a pupil last week. The guys are just editing it at the moment it will be up very soon!!
I need help with measuring steering. What position must the car be in before a turn is initiated? What lines and angles must I be looking at to make perfect vehicle manoeuvres in forwardand reverse? If you can do something like this...the world and I will be grateful!! Thanks.
Thank you! I believe u just figured out my problem. Appreciate you a lot mann. My second time I let di wheel straight up on its on. But I have complete control in my steering and lost points, still.
Hi Sir thanks 🙏🏽 so much But I just started last 2 days And am already on road and my teacher is saying we will start classes soon Hope there’s nothing wrong with that And seriously I was very scared but now am still learning more It’s my prayers that I be the best of all in my class 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I started learning to drive recently and my instructor she is telling me to shuffle steer and saying that I need to do that when turning I had a go but I really struggled so there’s some work to be done and do I have to learn the shuffle steer ???
I agree with most of what you say, except the 10&2 hand position. If that was the optimal position, steering wheels would've been designed for that. But they are not, 9&3 is the proper way. Turning signal levers are on 9&3, thumb buttons on modern cars - 9&3, gear shifting paddles on sports cars - 9&3. And actually if you watch the driving part, you'll see how often you hold your hands exactly on 9&3.
@@kdcntn Well whoever did that study sucks. And to all the arguments I listed above I'll add racing car wheels (F1, GT3), they are designed for 9&3, you can't even hold them at 10&2.
I started driving a couple of weeks ago and still can’t get to grips with push and pull but my instructor is adamant he wants me to learn that way, it’s such a struggle but I feel like I can’t tell him, I feel more in control doing it another way.
Right now I'm having this problem so I came to look. My instructor is very huggish so it's confusing when trying to understand what he saying to do and focus on the other stuff I need too. He also tells me I holding the steering to tight, just relax. To bad I'm in another country, I'd definitely prefer your teachings. Just got a car but will not be driving at all until I'm comfortable with driving . It look easy but it's not.
Hi; I loved all the videos is very very helpful and good tips as well.i have an exam in August and when my driving instructor tells me to turn right I keep steering left and vice versa so is there any helpful tips or tricks to help me with this problem ?
Hi Just a quick question. You know u said about the one hand steering Is that for automatic drivers also?. I am learning automatic lessons instead of manual as i am eager to pass quickly. I have took a few lessons but my steering needs more practice.
This i might actually try out, so i did my firsy lessons and the teacher was quiet harsh when i couldn't get the hand over hand plus idk why my first lessons was at night but i might try the push pull method. I never had experience driving and im 21 reason its do late because I had a rough life and my dad lost his license in 2017 and it's been hard getting to places. Then in 2022 my mom had a stroke so i had to do home care for her still am and this teacher just was so rough like i even told him i never had experience but i guess since im 21 im just supposed to know that. Honestly my bect lesson is tomorrow and I don't know how to deal with a yelling instructor driving at night and not focused. I don't know if its possible to change instructors because this guy was my history teacher and he's always been like that. This video did help and imma hope to get the hang of it, like my first error turn the guy got mad swearing under his breath. Its quite frustrating
Hi, great video. I can drive and only had a few lessons to fine tune my skills. My instructor was adamant I NEVER change gears going round corners or bends! I found it really odd, and as Francis is saying, you can do that steering with one hand whilst changing gears. Any comments, anyone? Which is the most correct way?
Generally speaking your instructor is correct, but sometimes you have to: when you pull onto a roundabout from a standstill you cannot avoid it, unless you negotiate the whole thing in first gear.
Anyone know any manuel instructor in new addington area my test will be on 21 st april in west wickham been looking l can t find anyone.i m happy to do nite or weekends is well.
I love your videos. I think you're a brilliant instructor. I wanted to check with you about dry steering. In London when I need to get into a tight space for parking sometimes I've found it necessary to dry steer. At the same time, I've heard that it damages the steering and the tyres. What's your take on that?
Definitely avoid dry steering whenever you can, as it is very hard on your vehicle. Though, sometimes can be necessary when trying to move your car in or out of tight parking spaces, for example. Only do it when you absolutely must :)
For now.. those people I know who keeps laughing on me just like what they always SAY " I WILL NEVER GET LEARN FOR DRIVING A CAR " bcoz they know me that I AM VERY SLOW learning person when it comes for Driving lesson. One day I will show them that " I can do it too , like everyone" I know it's very hard to learn but God will help me , giving me strength to keep in mind the word " I CAN " 🤩 Fighting!!! ❤️
I learned with the steering in small chunks and my instructor never corrected me. Now I am really struggling turning from major to minor roads in my car 😭

Best steering technique video so far. 👍🏻

back behind the steering wheel yesterday and this will help with my under and over steering. thanks a lot

My problem is i dont get how much should i turn it
It's all about practice and just getting comfortable with the car that you're driving :) You'll get there!

During the lockdown when I cant have my driving lessons, these tutorials are helpful👍
I wish American instructors were this thorough! My instructor just sits there and tells me where to go.
