It's brilliant to have the age range increased to as much as 17. Apparently there's a belief that less quads and mostly jumping technique will lessen the spectator value of the sport but I disagree. Not only would the crushing expectations for younger skaters be lessened, but while 17+ skaters still have impressive impressive jumping skills -- although in reality probably less than 15-16 year olds- the change would force the senior women's programs to excel without having to depend so much on jumping technique - and highten presentation and artistic value, originality and spectator value and make it more interesting- and less of the same robotic programs and unoriginality we've been seeing for years. Which is what a lot of people have been craving since the original changes in scoring were made.
