I love MADISON!!! I have been watching her since she was 14 yrs old. I appreciate how she carries herself on and off the court. My hope is that she wins a Grand Slam or 2. Then when she is ready she can help steer the WTA to sustained growth. Continued success!
@@GovernmentIssued True. Luckily she has a 4:1 record vs Samsonova, and even records against Pegula and Putintseva. So if she can keep her mental game intact, she's got a decent chance.
@ true. and it’s not only the serves, she doesn’t really have any winning shots. her only winning tactic is keeping the ball in play until the opponent makes a mistake but that doesn’t really work against the top players
Better have a real serve against Madison when she plays like this. Returning by Keys today was like watching batting practice. Daria really does need a serving consultant to fix that high school serve.
the yonex is clearly helping her add more spin/consistency to her game. i'm glad she was open enough to test gear and look for ways to improve. wish more players weren't so reluctant to change.
Keys is absolutely mashing the ball. She's playing with a new racquet and it's really working for her. Also, she looks fitter than she has in years. She was chasing balls down even when she didn't really need the point. I think she could be a real factor in Melbourne. Let's go Maddie!
Keys secretly switched to Yonex and it is making her strokes huge. Hopefully she can keep it up. I feel like every year she looks amazing right before the Australian Open but it never translates into the tournament.
She changed her strings too in 2023 I think and she instantly went deep in 2 slams (probably should have beaten Aryna in atleast one of those matches). This is another really smart switch, the Yonex with new strings has created power and stability. Love it!
Madison changed her serve motion. She was a platform server similar to Federer / Djokovic and has changed to bringing the right foot forward - seems like it’s helping her load & uncoil more.
Kasatkina's game has always been perfect for Keys. Slow loop coming, lots of time to position the feet, ball sits up nicely, gobble gobble. That's how Keys likes to play. To beat her you have to retrieve to frustrate her, but also not give her plenty of slow loopy droopy time to set up her feet, which she is not good at. If you can do those things we know she so often falls apart and can lose to anyone. Kasatkina is sadly just prey for her because of how she plays.
A bigger serve, a low slice and deeper placement would help. Hard to move Keys around if you're always on the back foot. But its easier said than to execute of course.
@jordanaus75 yes it's all very easily said, true, but plenty of lesser players than Kasatkina have undone Keys. She's one of the most beatable players out there if you can make her uncomfortable on her shots, which many seem to achieve. Not to take away from Keys, who has always been a phenomenal ball striker when she's hitting well.
She is the opposite of clutch. She’s insanely talented but crumbles in big moments. I wouldn’t be shocked if she took the Australian open if she plays like this though
@@colesmith7509 Big IF. Most of the ladies are not consistent enough to play this way for weeks. Arayna and Coco, and The drug enhanced Iga are the only ones. I am inclined to forget Iga, but I know someone would say , but IGa... So I included her.
I've always been suprised at how little Madie troubles Iga, she on paper is the perfect player to give her trouble. I hope this year she goes for it and maximizes her talent! ❤
You watch Keys and she pretty 'easy' way about her on tennis court, even when she lose. And. In back of mind, you wonder HOW she no make it deepr into big tournament, more often. High level charisma, as player and as player in action. I don't think this match go unnotice by top seeds. This not what they wanna see from Madison.
The thing is she can crush ground strokes occasionally. I can’t fathom why she didn’t do it in this match because she was pummeled even in the games she won
Keys LOVES Adelaide doesn't she?? She has always pummelled Dasha and that H2H keeps getting uglier for Kasatkina. Some of her most consistent results have been from these parts of the world. Aussie conditions suit Maddie very well.
No, she gets attention, but she has not shown any consistency in about 7 years. Play great most of the time you get the attention. Check Aryna Sabalenka and Coco. They both have the media behind them because they had results. I like Madison, but she has not won much or shown her ability in many years. I hope it is her Year.
@nt4081 I know and I can't put my finger on it in these majors for her. It's always SOMETHING! She was destroying Saba at (I think) last year's US Open, then she got injured and then 2024 Wimby with Jazz P injured again. It's gotta be the pressure of the moment or something. I just don't understand! 🤕
Has Kasatkina ever beaten a power player? She always gets trashed by them.

I wish professional sports commentators would have the courtesy to learn how to pronounce the athletes' names. "Kasatskeena" is grossly wrong. It will only take you one minute to learn the names of the two people you will be talking about!
She always uses the slice serve, she doesn't seem to have a kicker. Probably would hurt her even more because it would sit up for her opponents to be pummeled. Maybe it's because Nadal never used a kick serve? She idolized him and has obviously modeled her game after him.

Nothing new here, just Madi playing with some sparks but then crumbled when the stake's of the match mattered more (especially GS) It's all the mental side for Madi, because she has everything a GS champion need in their gameplay in her arsenal
Keys seem to be using Yonex? Based on the head shape and butt cap of the racket. Her shots seem more lethal, don’t know if it’s this switch from Wilson or maybe it’s just her on day.
