We own a '97 London Aire that was also a demo that was given to Mahlon Miller's daughter. It too was recalled and auctioned off in '08. I was at the factory in Napannee, IN back in May '19 and they had to remove the passenger side panel (we have a mid entry coach) and behind it they found a picture of the daughter with her baby, some baby blocks and a Newmar watch. We really like the coach. Also, when I was at the factory there was another of the '05 London Aires in for rework - was owned by one of the Millers. It was also repainted, in an awesome blue scheme.
At 7:52, note the lightening holes in the bracket closing the step door, that is over the top attention to detail! The trim lines on the slideouts, line up PERFECTLY with the coach trim lines, just an unreal level of workmanship.
Love to learn about the Miller's and Newmar. Theodore is great, love your interviews with him. Beautiful coach, like that master bedroom door and exit steps for the driver. Happy trails!
I remember when the London Aire was for sale in the Newmar Lineup around 2008. I always thought it competed with the American Coach Heritage, but then realized that was more the King Aire. The Newmar website at the time showed the driver door steps swinging out, but I never understood how they really worked until now. I love the full driver window too. Prevost needs to step up and get a fully retractable window since Setra Buses have that pretty standardized now. Nice Video Andrew !
what a great video and I can't believe i have not seen these 2 prior. LOL thanks andrew for sharing this in your latest with Theodore and the Essex tour.
Thanks for all the positive comments and feedback! I think you have one of the best usernames on youtube(I especially like the "Steel" part😎. Dean is working on pricing for prints and I'm definitely hoping to pick a couple up myself.
I'm fairly new to your channel. This is a particularly good video, congrats. The insight this young man gave up about the innovations Newmar introduced was eye opening and gives me even more reason to love Newmar. This young man, by the way, is an excellent ambassador for the company and mature in his delivery beyond his age. He would make his grandfather extremely proud. As for you, I think you could make big strides with your channel with more video "gold" like this one, and I also think that you might consider interviews with celebrities and other high profile coach owners. It's a niche that Ii don't think anyone else has dipped into as of yet. One more time- this history/innovation reveal was really very unexpected, compelling and worthwhile. Keep up the good work.
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele, I'll be sure to plug your channel and give them my advice if I run into one. Your focus on Prevost is your strength when appealing to celebrities, and the video you did with the tour bus guy recently that bought the performer bus. I think that's a strong entre
Awesome story Andrew! Love the thoughts put behind the why we think outside of the box! Way cool innovations! If you ever make it through the upper midwest, Forest City, Iowa is the home of Winnebago Motorhomes. A little town that made many millionaires back in the day (60's and 70's). If you sport that way, you'd want to time it with their annual convention. I'd even come down from the Twin Cities to meet up with you. My neighbor up here restored a mid-70's Winnebago Brave. So cool!
I know the RV industry had a few bad years but the Newmar fifth wheels are still iconic to me and was very hurt that when I was able to purchase one they had stop making them. I always loved the look of the eight wheel carriage they sat on and wondered why no one else used it, their full body paint jobs, décor. Theodore is it possible Newmar may consider opening that market again. Wishing! great video
i have a buddy ( my neighbor @ camp)who has a 2000 newmar 5th wheel for $10k it may seem pricey to some but it is quality!!! just like my 2000 Dutchstar. ps for info comment to this comment! :) ps: its in some of my camp videos at my channel if you want to see it click my icon pic :)
PERHAPS THE THEODORELEGACY MIGHT BE TO HAVE A NEWMAR CUSTOM SHOP( ADD ONS OR UPGRADES) NOT AVAILABLE IN THE PRODUCTION LINE IE SOUND SYSTEMS VIEDO COMPONENTS AND OR TECHNOLOGY INNOVATIONS. WELL DONE ANDREW!! AND SPECIAL THANKS TO THEODORE
The Eaton Vorad system was used by the trucking industry for many years. It will slow the vehicle down to the speed of the vehicle in front of you but it will not apply the brakes. It just let off of the accelerator.
@Keith Green Yes, now they have the adaptive cruise, which also , if needed will brake, down shift and use the engine brakes, or a combination of them depending on what's required to stop or slow. I'm a CDL instructor and when that happens with a student behind the wheel, it scares the crap out of em if their not ready/expecting it.
Andrew have you ever seen a coach with the tag axle in the front instead of in the back? I saw one recently on YOU TUBE . What a gorgeous coach . The paint job is stunning on this coach . I love the paint colors .
Just think where Newmar could have been if they continued to refine coaches like this. This is a beautiful coach, shame they stopped at a few prototypes.
Soooooo, the RV industry crashed in 2008, wasn't that right after obamo was elected president? That said, that's a very cool coach, ahead of its time for sure. I really like that driver door with the stairs that come out, looks a little dangerous if your not sure footed though, and the big screen above that mirrors the dash nav screen is kinda neat. Theodore seems like as very nice intelligent young man, very gracious if him to take the time to share something rare and cool with us. Another great vid Andrew and as always stay safe and give Sadie some love for me.

It is hard to find a mid-entry diesel pusher. I kept a gas burner until I finally found a mid-entry with a Cummins. Mine is not this nice but to me, the ones with the door in front of the front axle is just a converted tour bus.
This is unintentionally misleading. This is an older coach this is not a new coach that is trying to compete with Prevost and Newell, so don't get excited this coach is from 2005 and was designed to compete BACK THEN !
Darn Theo, why did y'all sell out to Winnebago? For $344M at that. That's like 344 King Aires. Your inventory alone must have been worth more than that.
Kid is 'sorta smart'...but let's get real... *Prevost* is just the bus maker/platform...!! Companies like *Newell* , *Marathon Coach* , *ForeTravel* , *Featherlite* and *Millennial Coaches* simply ADD to that foundation their own touches/technology.. So, when you're talking about 'slide outs' and how other companies do theirs, you can't include *Prevost* , because they don't put slides on the bus chassis...that's the job of the coach builder!
Actually Prevost does make their own slides as well as allow the converters to put in their own. And as far as Newell is concerned, they 100% build their own coach from the ground up. But Foretravel uses a Spartan Chassis.
As nice as it is, it will never be able to compete with the freightliner or Spartan chassis, it will not measure up to the high end chassis of Prevost and Newell
@@deanhauser6626 it will be interesting, maybe this was the leg up Winnebago was hoping for to hit the next level in quality? Exciting times for sure this 2020!!
