Hey Jason. I’ve pulled the trigger on a 9m DLab Evo because of all these back to back reviews. We appreciate your time and effort that goes into making the videos m8.
Thanks for this cool review! Bought a Force 7m following your videos, trying to get a hold on a 9m. Despite only being in Muriwai for two days in my life, your video just made me miss it again :)
I decided to hold off doing that as there are a lot of things I both like and dislike about each device/app, in summary I tend to prefer the app/community of using woo, but prefer the accuracy of surfr. Both are great for different things really.
These reviews are the best. Love that you ask yousselve questions. Hope part two comes out soon, maybe buying a vortex, but you rarely see them. Big fan of the edge speed now..
I won’t be doing a part two, i managed to ride this kite happily up to around 30-35 knots and still enjoyed it. Top to end loses some of its ease of use, compared to say an orbit/nitro, but it’s still a great ride and the second best overall aluula kite I’ve ridden so far
Thanks Jason, your vids are great, real review from a 'normal' rider, at a level I aspire to You were definitely a contributing factor to me getting a 10m dlab 🤙🏻 And I love it !
Another awesome video Jason! By far the best non-biased kite reviews from a non-pro rider. Ended up getting a 10m Evo DLAB and 8m Rebel SLS because of your reviews. Looking forward to more great content!

Loving the reviews! Keep them coming. I just purchased a new Nitro2 in a 9m. Watching the big air comps and your reviews had me question what I was really looking for. I’m a lighter rider and hardly ever have a chance to ride in 30-35 knots. Seems like some of the kites the pros are using in those conditions may offer a rider like me less performance rather than more. I just want to boost as high as possible and loop it when I can. I got my first 2 sessions on the Nitro 2, and I think I made the right decision! Easy to fly, super stable, and jumps way better than my old kite. It was still expensive but seems to be the only kite able hanging with the Aluula kites which cost nearly 800 quid more. I may pick up a 12 meter if I can find one. Thanks Jason! PS. Also, wouldn’t mind seeing a test of Flysurfer ERA if you haven’t already. Thx.

I got a 10m Evo Dlab a couple of months ago. Your vote as the best choice kite in the 10m size helped as the deciding factor. Toying with a 12m now too after seeing how well you are doing with that in the lighter winds.
Hiya, I recently switched from Core Nexus to the Vortex and have really been digging it….the boosting, quick kite recovery, turning and wind range. Your review really helped with this decision…so thanks. Also, I started using Ozone contact bar. I haven’t loved manually un twisting lines. Do you have any recommendations on bars that would work well with the ozone? I think you mentioned using the north bar in your video.
I used the North Navigator Pro bar to review the Ozone... I swapped the pigtails around on the Kite so that they would be in line with my other kites too, worked great!

Thx again Jason. Coming off XR7s, I got to try 9m Vortex yesterday and also loved it. I’m not ready for loops but was amazed how playful, smooth and easy to ride it was. I found myself using to kite to correct errors because I could just put it where I needed it to be. I've only ever used the medium bar from North
You wanna use the navigator large for orbit 11mt+ so that one is an M
@@giorgio4660 In an ideal world perhaps, but I generally just stick to the same size bars for all my kites, I spend too much on gear as it is 😂
@@jasonofmontreal yes, you should start buy the navigator L in fact, 50/55🤣
Edit: crying thinking about the new 27mt lines bought and ready to install for the 60cm bar just bought to use with the 14mt old schoold bow kite bought last month and don’t remembering why the f i had this idea.
Just bought a 13 meter vortex, waiting for wind!
Booya!
Where is this spot ?
Muriwai, Auckland’s West Coast
@@jasonofmontreal if I dig a hole right here, passing through the centre of the earth , I will probably get there
@@SaRs_Ant the best time of year for it starts in 3 months so grab a shovel, you’ve got time… might need a thicker wetsuit than you’re used to however
Thx again Jason. Coming off XR7s, I got to try 9m Vortex yesterday and also loved it. I’m not ready for loops but was amazed how playful, smooth and easy to ride it was. I found myself using to kite to correct errors because I could just put it where I needed it to be. Agree it did feel super floaty, but it made up in agility and fun factor- I have never thrown a kite around quite as much. It right up there at the top of my list with XR Pro- looking forward to your review so I can make my call.
Unless you have any sneak peak feedback on XR Pro? I know it will boost, but trying to determine how agile it might be, given how much I enjoyed the Vortex.
I’m afraid we don’t have core here in NZ but I’d imagine the xr pro is less forgiving and more boosting oriented
Stop saying you're average, you're boosting massive boogieloops. If advanced riders are only the pros there are like 20 advanced riders in the world 😂😂
I believe I referred to myself as advanced amateur in a video, I’d say that’s fairly accurate
@@jasonofmontreal it was my way to make a compliment, AND to tell you to be a bit more cocky 😂
😅😅
you made me buy a 2023 nitro brand new!
Nice one
Thank you as always for the review! Quick question that I’m sure you have answered before; are you riding 22m lines most of the time or 24?
22’s
But did you really compare both ? I thought it will boost better with 24m 🤔
@@clementfouet2888 if you are used to 23/24 you will, I find my timing is better with 22. Some pros prefer longer lines for tricks, and slightly shorter for boosting, I tend to prefer 24 for larger kite sizes only.
@@jasonofmontreal good to know !
I don't know if it's linked, but I think there is a difference of the position of the kite, I mean with longer line, the drag of the lines make the kite a bit less on the edge of the wind window, results by more pull
@@clementfouet2888 check out the kitesurf365 podcast, tech casts with DK, I think two or three pods ago they break down the differences, and talk about a session where Aaron Hadlow jumped 35m on 17m lines (with a 9m), while Luke McGwilie did the same height on 23m lines (on a 6m kites)
Evo dlab 8m from 15 to 35kts, the performance of this kite in this size is amazing
I’m guessing you’re either super light or on a foil in 15knots though 😂
Yes, 15kts on foil, but around 18kts is starts working for twintip and small loops at 72kg and duotone jaime 136 2021
Almost June. I can almost smell the 2025 kites dropping soon. Who will be first.
Haha, exciting times if they get to nz
Hi Jason from 🇮🇪 great videos. We all love your non affiliated videos. I deal in North and vantage myself with a shop. Quick one what do you use to hold the go pro? Is it in your mouth?
Yeah I just bite on the orange floaty and tuck it in my wetsuit when I’m not filming… the jaw can get pretty tight holding it too long
Just that standard orange bite is it? Fair play, that's a workout in itself
Thanks to your reviews of kites, I bought a range of orbit kites and I am (super) happy with them for loop progression. :))
Sadly my 9m 2024 does have a problem in the air (strange feeling, no feedback, no lift/power), I hope north will take it back and give me a new one.
Glad you like them. Sorry to hear about the issues though
but my heart is on the D-lab
so hope to save up and get one some time
It’s quite a monster
After this awesome review, I want to trade my orbits 2024 for vortex 🫣
Try before you buy if you can, and consider the conditions too of course
Just bought a 13 meter vortex, waiting for wind!
Booya !
