The thrust plate has a flat washer on one side and a washer with a nipple on the other. Does it matter what side? Because in your vid at 3:08 you put the flat washer first then plate then the washer with nipple side down, other videos online I seen it done opposite. Does it matter? Thanks
Thank you. The largest turbo I ever worked on was about 3 times this size. It's from a Cummins 2900. The turbo had a 5" compressor wheel. The compressor housing was about 2 feet in diameter.
I think you have just saved me a huge headache and a hefty repair bill. My s467 is blowing oil out the rear seal . Its completely operator error as I neglected to align the seals 180degrees.. if it only has one is there anything special to know about alignment before installing the shaft. I only want to make one correction rather than two.
Let me ask what is your take on a staggered piston ring on the exhaust housing and the pros and cons of using them The second question is do you offer them in any kit you sell
Are they supposed to be hard to turn?? I bought mine remand, everything is new in the unit but it seems a bit hard to clock the 2 housings. Is that normal? Anything I can do to make it easier? Like oil or something??
+sav3dbygrac3 it depends on your definition of reliable. The k series has a really weak thrustbearing, if you boost the car more than factory boost the thrust bearing will fail everytime. The s400 series that I rebuilt didn't have a thrustbearing problem, the seals wore out, but it's on factory boost. I don't like how it came from factory without a compressor housing seal so I machine the compressor housing for the seal
I don't know. There is a 360 degree thrustbearing kit for it which we do sell. I rebuilt a silver bullet s300 a few years ago and it had a really bad thrustbearing failure. Usually when the thrustbearing goes bad in that situation, it's because the thrustbearing was not strong enough to support the boost level that the driver was forcing the engine to do.
I've got a question I have one of these turbos and I want to swap to a billet compressor wheel with 11 blades, do I need to get the turbo rebalanced afterwards??
Christian Bonfiglio I never got a reply from these guys, but from what I've read over on LS1TECH it's always a good idea to have it balanced after swapping compressor wheels. hope this helps you out a bit
why bother? New turbos are cheaper than the unavailable un orderable how big what size what kind bullshit parts from borg. Here's the million dollar secret.... WUXI makes the best copies, and you can get accurate flow maps!
Thank you. For showing me the magic known as turbos. And the internal part assembly.

good job once again. the audio is much much better. A++
You sure the thrust hardware goes like that?
How much torque do you give the nut in the front of the s400
Almost confident that I can rebuild my turbo from this video
Did it work out? 😂
i like the use of the strobe light
Nice Job Austin! ...That's a pretty good sized turbocharger...
Thank you. The largest turbo I ever worked on was about 3 times this size. It's from a Cummins 2900. The turbo had a 5" compressor wheel. The compressor housing was about 2 feet in diameter.
Good Lord!...😄
+Turbo Lab America was that an HX100 that was the largest you worked on?
A k04 turbo rebuild would be nice!

Wow, I enjoyed watching and learning.

will this work with the borg warner s400sx?
Hello please I got a question is normal shaft in and out play i got 171702 1.45 exhaust thanks

Can you make a video for the 4HD model ??
I don’t know what turbo that is
Would you recommend this for turbo for a Detroit 12.7 475
Hey man can you build a s467 or similar 67.7/83/1.10
What’s the cost to rebuild a s60 Detroit vgt turbo?

i have an s475 turbo clipped to a 2.6..will this rebuild kit still work? the turbo is starting to leak oil
Looks like a good job in that Borg turbo. What is the smallest Borg turbo you've seen ? You guys have had mine since Feb....
+Bryan Leverett ko3
how about a schwitzer s1 or borgwarner deutz turbo S1 p/n 15H08-1846
What is the torque spec for the compressor wheel nut?
Eric Pfeifer did you ever find out what the torque spec was ??
50ft lbs for S400
Hello I have hino 268 trubochareger can you pleas rebuild for me
how were you taking off the compressor housing??
+Boosted 91 its a vband connection
Are they supposed to be hard to turn?? I bought mine remand, everything is new in the unit but it seems a bit hard to clock the 2 housings. Is that normal? Anything I can do to make it easier? Like oil or something??
+Boosted 91 I don't know how to help you.
This rebuild kit will work on the aftermarket (knockoff s475) turbo....?
I don't know
It sure will, I just did one. Worked perfect!
Aren't Borg warners very reliable? How many have you rebuilt?
+sav3dbygrac3 it depends on your definition of reliable. The k series has a really weak thrustbearing, if you boost the car more than factory boost the thrust bearing will fail everytime. +Turbo Lab America I see, I have a S362 fmw. Do those have that issue?
I don't know. There is a 360 degree thrustbearing kit for it which we do sell. I rebuilt a silver bullet s300 a few years ago and it had a really bad thrustbearing failure. Can I upgrade my (new) s475 to a billet wheel without balancing it?
Yes
I need that turbo for my Mack E9 engine for truck pulling. 😬
I've got a question I have one of these turbos and I want to swap to a billet compressor wheel with 11 blades, do I need to get the turbo rebalanced afterwards??
Boosted 91 did you ever find out if you needed to rebalance your turbo after the new compressor wheel was installed?
Christian Bonfiglio I never got a reply from these guys, but from what I've read over on LS1TECH it's always a good idea to have it balanced after swapping compressor wheels. hope this helps you out a bit
yes you need to rebalance it.
The turbine shaft is balanced separately from the compressor wheel. The answer is no.
Can anyone get ahold of this guy
why bother?
New turbos are cheaper than the unavailable un orderable how big what size what kind bullshit parts from borg.

What is the torque spec for the wheel but for this turbo????
