AWESOME. I had a custom-made light wrap that I used for every single shot of two 150+ shot short films that were entirely green screened. This helps SO MUCH!
oof that's a lot of work! We were using our script before, it worked well enough but definitely a much slower process

Tried this plugin and it works decently but the biggest issue I've found is it struggles with gradients in the alpha channels - meaning it completely cuts them off - making the keying look shoddy. I greatly appreciate this is offered for free but find Digital Anarchy's light wrap plugin to be much better (and has much more thorough customization control) even though it's nearing a decade old at this point. That said, this is definitely worth it and on a recent project I used both plugins depending on the specific needs of a clip. Plus, your plugin renders faster! So,, if there's no hair or other details in the edges to worry about your plugin is great.
That makes sense, I was wondering why my rotoscope using the refine edges brush was violently flickering 😂
While I thank you for your plugin, the way your site works leaves much to be desired. First when you try to create a "free" account you are immediately directed to the subscription page, where by default you have to donate 15usd, the button to donate $0 is very very small and, even if you find it, it opens a paypal tab asking for a card (there is also a small button to continue without donating).
Donations should be made for pleasure and not by mistake, all these tricks only create distrust in your brand.
Well, how do you expect them to pay their bills? They can't keep accommodating self serving freeloaders or else they'll go out of business. Who's going to rescue you when you can't pay your bills?

@@nightcoregirlprinzeugen7234 well it is advertised as " free " so i don't see what point you're trying to make . if you really need money maybe try to advertise your product the right way as opposed to baiting people saying it's free and then complain when they want it for FREE.

What is the different between this and red giant tool light wrap?

you'd have to do some testing and let us know, we've used their awesome lightwrap tool that's in SuperComp but not a standalone one.
I bought supercomp v1 back when you where allowed to buy individual filters out of those filter packs. So I bought only supercomp for some hundreds dollar from redgigant. Beside that I own Trapcode. I liked supercomp but v1 started to get unusable with ongoing updates of AE to a point that I do not want to use it anymore. Now since they have been bought from maxon they do not allow me to update any of my perpetual licences. Only subscriptions and I refuse to support this if possible. So I am using my perpetual licences as long as technically manageable and at the same time, I am looking into alternatives. Thislight wrap seems to be exactly what I was hoping for. And it is free? COOOOOL

Won't work. I've moved the MacOS version into the AE plugins folder, but when I try to apply the effect to a layer, I get the error: "this effect cannot be applied because it cannot be initialized. try reinstalling or contacting plugin developer". I've tried reinstalling several times, and I keep getting the same error. I've already unblocked it from MacOS security! why won't it work? help!
What version of AE and MacOS are you using? 😀

unfortunately I can't get this to work with EXR sequences at all. Switching on the wrap solo mode doesn't show any light wrap effect happening. Tried dozens of troubleshooting techniques but haven't got anything to work for it.

Odd. It seems to be really only effecting the background. There is no nice wrapping effect as seen here. Wonder what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for this! Quick Q if you don't mind... In my original setup, my foreground subject is scaled down and positioned against the background. When I precomp the two together when following the instructions, it seems I have to have them both at 100% for the wrap to line up correctly. Is there any way I can re-position the background's wrap within my foreground. Sorry if that's a poor explanation.
If I understand your set up correctly, I wouldn't precompose the foreground and background together, you can precompose them separately, so each retains it's own layer. select Move All Attributes into New Layer when precomposing to avoid any position/scale issues

When signing up there is a checkbox in the bottom of the far left option, uncheck it and you will be able to sign up. It might prompt you to sign in with PayPal but I found that you can just close that window.

I have used this before with some success, but for some reason two clips that I am simply trying to use this on are not working. Is there a requirement for the background video for the plug-in to understand that it is a light? It is simply a video with bright parts, but I am just curious to know what are some of the limitations because I must be missing something.
just make sure to precomp both to fit comp dimensions and it should work well

I've applied the light wrap to an animated subject in a video I'm working on.
The subject is positioned between two layers, acting in the middle. I've got the Crates Light Wrap applied to the middle layer, with the background layer acting as the source. During the preview, I can see the light wrap with proper color, however when I export the timeline in Media Encoder, the light wrap effect doesn't export at all.
Am I doing something wrong?

that's odd! Hmmm... maybe try precomposing all the layers together after applying the effect and making sure to render that composition

it has no way to identify the subject, you'll need it on alpha, whether roto, keyed or some other technique
