On my most recent visit to the battlefield a year ago, I spent an afternoon walking the Union positions on Cemetery Ridge in the opposite direction as you did it in this video. This was a wonderful discussion adding detail to my walk. You guys are the best. Thank you!
This is a tremendous video. The story telling. The filming. The production with all the captions and pics. Thank you so much. Also Inam stunned at all the Medals of Honor awarded for capturing the flags of the confederates. Reminds me of okaying capture the flag as a kid in early 1970’s. No wonder a game was made out of it. Now I finally understand. Thank you.
Very nice discussion about artillery and infantry. I am amazed at how well communication among units actually worked. I consider the confusion over Market-Garden and Nijmegen bridge. Why wasn’t it captured on day 1? Confusion and plans just not working out; or were subordinate commanders not doing the right things at the right time? Longstreet and Lee not really communicating. Meade and Sickles. It is all part of the Fog of War.
The Confederate color bearer who was close enough to the 14th Conn for Sgt. Major Hincks to capture their flag was from the 14th Tennessee of Archer's Bgd. commanded by Col Fry. This Confederate soldier was just as far into the Union position as any of them.
Jim Hessler and Wayne Motts. Two of the absolute best at telling the story of the Battle of Gettysburg.
Great videos! I vote for Part 4! Thank you to everyone involved!!
I demand a part four! As always an informative and entertaining presentation. Even without a Dan Sickles moment, a top quality presentation.
great presentation Jim and Wayne , I'm all for part 4!!!
