- King Buzzo & Dale Crover of MELVINS (Buzz, mostly) are interviewed by Grant Alden on 10/30/92 on the 11th Floor of Rockefeller Center (Atlantic Records corporate suites) in New York, NY. Lorax was also present, but retreats to the bathroom, never to return. Topics include: equipment used by MELVINS, being signed to Atlantic Records, weird tunings, influences, etc.
The two photos in the vid were snapped by Rick Shipley at Bogarts in Long Beach, CA on 3/6/93. Watch that show here if you like:

MELVINS are one of my favorite bands that have ever walked the planet. I saw them over 20 times from 1993-2002, from the Lorax days to the Rutmanis era. I had the pleasure of meeting our lord & master, the mighty King Buzzo, at Lollapalooza Fest in New Orleans in 1996. We talked for about 20 minutes as we watched Soundgarden together. We have some mutual friends (members of EYEHATEGOD, namely), so we hit it off quite well. Dale, I met on a separate occasion -- his side band ALTAMONT played a show here in NOLA in 1999 & he invited me to come to the CD-release party for MELVINS - 'The Maggot', which was held at Mushroom Record Store the next day. I took him up on his offer. ALTAMONT played in the record store, along w/ a few of my friends' bands. MELVINS are cool cats & you should support them any way you can.

Interesting to hear Buzzo speak dismissively of jazz back then because he found the scene snobby; which isn't the case now as he's quite an avid fan. I felt the same about jazz at that age too until I discovered some of the more extreme free jazz albums from the 60s and 70s.
Feel lucky to have seen those shows at the Covered Wagon and to still be going to see them these days. Great content btw. Subscribed.
Regarding the debate at the end of the interview:
Melvins absolutely changed my life. That is all.
Great interview! Thanks for sharing.
Slightly less grumpy buzz
Excellent interview and we find that he pretty much say the same thing in his interview 30 years later
Cool to hear Buzz talk about his CGDGBE tuning.
Yeah. A total snooze fest.
I want to watch the show the thumbnail came from.
It's right here, blood:

good to hear views from a younger Buzz, does anybody have any 80s melvins interviews
Hey! Is that a Rick Shipley photo?
Damn buzz was 28 in 92'?
The interviewer sounds just like a guy I saw in the 1990's documentary, "Teen Spirit - Tribute To Kurt Cobain"
20 years later buzz is a big miles davis fan
Listening to the first 30 seconds and thinking the same thing! Even heard Dale in a recent interview talking of a Miles Davis/Jimi Hemdrix collab that was supposed to happen that was sorely missed out on after Jimi's passing
I was always under the impression that Atlantic was not pleased with Stoner Witch.
Why? What do you know about anything?
JOE
Thank's for ripping my photo off!
Whoa, easy there, Testy. I had no idea who took the photo. If I did, I would've credited you as the photographer in the description section. I will do so now, as I'm in a great mood. Cheers! 🍻
@@JasonPizzolato didn't mean to come off like a dick. It's a compliment. I was just shocked to see it.
BTW...that was taken at Bogarts in Long Beach, CA. Maybe 92 or 93? After Joe and before Mark D.
Cool, I was gonna ask where they were taken. Thanks for the info; I'll add it to the top.
I figured it must've been around that time, as that was around the first time I saw them as well.
I have that show up, by the way -- the one at Bogart's:
