A massive amount of thanks for this material, it is most welcome. Conor is awesome here and the set list, God Damn! (In the utmost intense of accents and tones).
This is like an old school Bright Eyes reunion without Mike and Nate. Stefanie and Matt played on those early BE recordings. It seems that we finally have that tour for Motion Sickness.
Saw him 3 days later on my birthday. Some of my favorite songs by Conor were played here and there. Motion Sickness, No One Would Riot For Less, and Desert Island Questionnaire are some of my favorite songs form his repertoire. Great set list.
The Trees Get Wheeled Away 0:08 Hundreds of Ways 5:07 Motion Sickness 10:23 Time Forgot 17:15 Empty Hotel by the Sea 23:30 No One Would Riot for Less 29:44 Blue Angels Air Show 36:05 Desert Island Questionnaire 39:50 Till St. Dymphna Kicks Us Out 46:12 If You See Me Getting Smaller (Waylon Jennings cover, Debut) 51:45 If the Brakeman Turns My Way 57:37 Napalm 1:04:32
I saw Conor the night before and what an absolutely fanfuckingtastic show !! Great mix of old and new solo stuff and some old Bright Eyes songs too. I couldn't have been more thrilled....well, maybe if Phoebe came out for a few BOCC tunes..... Great interaction with the crowd- he even apologized for screwing up some notes on some weird instrument he played on one song. So happy someone posted this full show cuz the theater I saw him at expressly forbade videotaping !
I don't know. Some surely level out creatively (see: the bulk of John Lennon's solo output for instance). Maybe Oberst's creative trajectory hit its zenith in the mid-00s...and that's "exciting"...but the quality of his writing's remained remarkably consistent imo.
@@Nalinalinali Agreed my man. I just think it's difficult to look at what he was churning out in the mid-70s and see any resemblance to the literally-can-do-no-wrong output of the mid-60s. If someone were unfamiliar with his work and just reading the lyrics, you'd never guess the material shared the same author.
I saw him the night before and OMG, IT WAS AMAZING.
