I’ve had a pela case for my iPhone XR since I got it and it’s held up well, a few knicks and scrapes on the case but for 4 year old case it’s doing really well.

Great video! Terrible design. I used to have a Pela case for my iPhone X and it was the best. Durable, good looking, and great hand feel. Of course the iPhone X didn’t have MagSafe so there was no issue with design. Now, the big gap in the back of the case is ridiculous and is weird, as you said. Cannot possibly justify the now $69.95 price for the case plus the cost of the MagSafe module ($12.95). All Pela iPhone cases should now have the MagSafe built-in especially since the iPhone 14 is the third iPhone to have MagSafe.

Thank you for this video! Appreciate your honest reflections on the tech industry and waste, about to order my second Pela case and looking forward, going to get the same color!

I think you messed up putting the adhesive side on the phone. I think you align the magnets to the case using the phone, then apply the case over the magnets, touching the case.
    So phone>magnets w/adhesive up>case

Wasn’t expecting a biodegradable case to be pretty much as durable as a non-biodegradable one

the design implementation displayed here is now outdated FYI, the case and magsafe module design have been updated. seems a lot better than what you see here.

What if you flipped the magnets/ plastic piece to the case side vs. the phone side……….

There is a proper way to install and use Mag Safe. This was not it.

Have you gotten used to the soft spot in the back. And, do you feel like the magnets would scratch the back of the phone over time?

I really want to get a pela case but I have a $100 MagSafe charging stand and I need a case that can provide a strong hold while standing upright, not laying on a table, can you test with a stand?? The one I got from target will fall off with barely a brush let alone a bump. The official Apple brand MagSafe silicone case started to deteriorate within a month of using it although it had a super strong hold :/

I wish they made the solid color ones a bit cheaper like around $35-$40 since it is mass producible.
$60 case plus $5 magnets is a bit expensive for me.

if you look at the magsafe desc on pela it says you're supposed to stick it to the phone case so it probably didn't work because the magnets are facing the wrong direction

Tbh it's not that compostable.. but some of them are cute at least. I heard that for the pixel 6 at least it doesn’t have any screen protection at all.

Does all of their cases come with the indent in the back for the magsafe module?

Do you know any other eco friendly case better than this? I really like the feel of it but I don’t feel good with that gap

I bet you can overlay a couple of those magsafe modules in that case. Would be interesting to try out.

Interesting idea. Seeing as I can already feel it a bit through the case with just one, it might wind up being annoying, but it just might work!

You’re supposed to peel the plastic off the module…it isn’t sticking because there is a layer of plastic between the phone and the case……

    • @CameronDoughertyTech
      @CameronDoughertyTech  2 года назад +2

So there’s two pieces of plastic when it arrives, one on either side of the magnets. Based on Pela’s explanation video, they recommend removing the small piece and leaving the big one as I did. It’s possible that the plastic could be inhibiting it, but I imagine it would be negligible to the overall magnetism. The real benefit of the plastic is that you can remove the whole thing together rather than having a mess of small magnets. It’s definitely imperfect, that’s for sure.

We have been scammed. There is nothing environmentally friendly about thier cases. I've seen the testing.
