Great review! How are you liking this? I just got it for my 13-yr-old son because I am not a fan of Spelling Workout. If it works for him, I will be using it for my other 2 littles.
Thank you so much for this review! It is super helpful. I am so torn on language arts for next year for my rising second grader. We have gotten through Logic of English Foundations A and B. But, I am considering going through All About Spelling through level 3 then starting this, as Andrew Pudewa suggests in his video on spelling. How old is your child that is doing this product?
Marcy Bowden Hi! My daughter was in 8th grade this year when she was using this. She didn’t finish level B, so she will continue it into 9th grade. I definitely recommend the placement test after you finish AAS.
This was so helpful, thank you! How are you liking Phonetic Zoo after using it for a while now? Do you feel like it's something you and your child will want to use long-term? We've had the hardest time finding a spelling program that works and is user friendly enough to use for the long haul!
Amie S So far, so good! I do think we will stick with it. My daughter hasn’t complained at all, and I like that I’m hands off with it. I also like that it’s a move at your own pace thing. So right now my daughter is on list 7. I feel like she’s progressing pretty nicely. She struggles with spelling due to her dyslexia, and so the constant repetition is good for her.
@@EducationalRoots Just wanted to check back in and let you know we've been using Phonetic Zoo A for just almost 4 weeks and love it!! Thanks so much for the video, I never would have tried it without seeing this :)
@@EducationalRoots Thank you for your video! I was wondering if you would still recommend this spelling program for children with dyslexia? Did your daughter complete the program and did you all enjoy it?
I recently purchased this program. I think it will be a great addition to our homeschool schedule. Thank you for the review. How did you print the cover for the spiraled notebook? Did you use a thicker paper?
Deja B. I got the cover off of teachers pay teachers. I just printed it on regular paper. Then I took it to office max and had it bound and they put on a hard back and clear cover.
Hi, my 10 year old daughter will be starting this in 20-21 school year. I was wandering (you may have said it) do you do this program daily and does it come with lesson plans?
kendria wilson Hi! Yes, you do it daily. It doesn’t have lesson plans, because you simply move to the next lesson once they get it correct 2 times in a row. This could take 2 days or 2 weeks. It all depends on the kiddo.
Do you mind clarifying, do they study the word list or just the 3 words on the front of the card? Then once they learn the rule they can spell other words.. thanks
The Vidaurri Bunch Each lesson has 12 or 15 words, something like that. I’m not looking at the cards to see. The 3 words on the front of the cards are just example words. The word lists are on the back of the cards. They have all 3 levels on the back, but the audio for each level you’ll need to buy separately. So each day they take the test of the 12-15 words. When they get it 100% twice in a row they move on to the next list. Does that help?
Ok, Im just confused on how much the parent is involved or if I need to introduce anything... so it is pretty much student independent? Do they study the words besides take the test daily?
Ta'Shiba I The Joyful Warrior It has been going so well! My daughter is on lesson 24, so she will be definitely using the same level next year since there’s 47 lessons. I like that it goes at her pace. She doesn’t complain about spelling at all (and she complains about most school lol), and I have seen an improvement in her writing. A+ from me.
Ta'Shiba I The Joyful Warrior 8th. I know most kids are done with spelling bu high school, but she is dyslexic, so we will continue on. :) I definitely recommend the placement test.
Hi I came across this critique of the program: “This program doesn't really help the child learn to spell, just helps them memorize for the test and then moves on” What’s your personal view on this? Also are you still using it with any of your kids
That seems very strange to me! They are learning the phonics rules and therefore should be able to spell any word that follows the rule. I’ve never heard anyone say that. Where was that review from? Yes, my 15 year old is still using it and my 10 year old will use it next year.

This sounds like a fun and thorough lesson for spelling. I like that there are many ways to adapt it for your own homeschool.
Kristen H Definitely! Thanks for watching. ❤️
Thank you! This was incredibly helpful! We will be using this after we complete Memoria Press traditional spelling 2!
Lisa Rupertus You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. :)
My thoughts exactly
Interesting, I have never heard of this program. My kids are still to little, but I will need to keep it in mind.
TBean05 I’m glad I could share it with you!
I love that you can purchase the audio download!
Mama Smiles - Joyful Parenting Me too! I much prefer audio downloads than CD’s!
I'm such an IEW fan!! Thanks for the review.

Br in each list there’s a little jingle they learn (it’s all on the audio CD/mp3) to remind them of the rule.
Ok, Im just confused on how much the parent is involved or if I need to introduce anything... so it is pretty much student independent? Do they study the words besides take the test daily?
How long each day does the lesson take, using the cd/audio?
Not very long, maybe like ten minutes
Hi, so you need to complete all of the all about spelling levels before starting these?
No, they recommend AAS 1-3 and then Phonetic Zoo A
@@EducationalRoots oh great. Thanks for replying. We’re finishing level 2, so maybe I’ll wait a bit.
@@lizalim1559 How old is your child? They also recommend at least being 8.

@@EducationalRoots also what about words that don't follow the rules, how are those addressed?
Hi my son is on 5th grade. Are this lessons for kids to work independently?.
Esmeralda C Yes!
@@EducationalRoots thank you for your help..
I also have a 5th grader who is pretty advanced so looking for something he can do independently. Thanks.
LB Make sure to take the placement test. An advanced 5th grader will likely place into level B.
Great overview, thank you
