hi, Paul, thank you so much sharing this solution with us. It works fine on my Sienna 2005, super. I was about to ask ATOTO when I couldn't figure out the resistor values they used. They should open this design parameter to users.
I just installed an Atoto A8 in my 04 Sienna and did not need the resistors to make the steering wheel controls operate. Maybe the newer model corrected the need for resistors? I don’t know. I had the same color coded wires as this video, without resistors, works fine.
I’m going to install an Atoto S8 standard Gen2 in a 2007 Camry. I matched all the Metra wiring harness without the resistors to the stock harness (Atoto said they are not necessary) so we shall see. Also the stock Camry headunit is NON JBL.
@@youcanthide004 any update? I'm getting ready to install an s8 gen2 into a 2006 xb and am wondering what harness to get and if the resistors are needed
What’s the purpose of adding the resistors exactly, is it necessary? I have a 97 4runner and I did a steering wheel swap to a new 05 Toyota Corolla with the steering controls and I got this kit and found your video on wiring very informative.
Thanks. It depends on the radio you bought. Most radios detect button pushes with a change in resistance in the circuit. So you need the baseline resistance to match what the radio is expecting.
@@paulpianca3045 ahhh ok sounds like it’s out of league at that point since the steering wheel wiring isn’t built into this harness, I would have to make a sub harness to the radio unit
Well, oddly my 2006 Sienna LE (non-JBL) doesn’t work with the wires alone, or with the proper resistors. I’ve repeatedly checked my setup and it’s a no-go with my Atoto A6. Really bummed.

I just installed an Atoto F7G2A7WE in a 2005 Sienna and did not use any resistors. Works fine. Only issue was understanding how to program the radio to recognize the various steering wheel buttons. During button training, the radio does not give any feedback that a steering button has been pressed.
Hey Paul, thanks for making this video. I have installed JVC KW-M730 BT in my Sienna 2004. Do you think this solution will work for me with same resistance?
Have an Android unit coming from China in a month or so...this was extremely helpful. Thank you
Great Explanations for this project- Thanks

You're welcome, I am glad this was of help to you.
Definitely, I have seen multiple videos where people connect the wires directly. What are voltages coming out from the steering wheel volume controls?

@@ncarlen3 So far so good it’s been about a month or so and I’ve had no issues. Everything works perfect‼️👌🏼

So what do I do? With the red wire? Where do I connect it?
Hello i have a sienna 04 just wondering where to conect illum cable and key 1 an 2 to control the vol..
Did you figured it out yet?
Do I really have to use resistances ?

Hi paul , hi is your car has jbl system ? My car has jbl, do i have to buy turn on ampli ? Thank
have a look at his ruclips.net/video/wfVrkRdAvJA/видео.html
Anyone? Any comments about where to connect the red wire? Please
Audio no god ok from this video !!!!!!!!!!
