For anyone following this awesome guide, please double-check if the existing backup camera is 12V or 6V. If it is one that was plugged into the factory head unit, you will need a 12V to 6V converter before hooking up the backup camera on to the acc wire. it goes acc wire ->12v to 6v converter hot -> red backup camera wire. I attached the black ground wire to the chassis ground in the harness.
Great video! I've got a 2004 Celica that I'm hoping to fit with a A6PF using your 3d printed faceplate. im looking into getting a build plate for my printer thats engraved with a carbon weave or a diffraction grating. Im thinking that will make the front of the face plate have a nice texture.
Thanks for the video. I was able to follow this to install a F7 XE 10.1 INCH. However I ran in to an issue. The connector from Atoto has an remote amp wire (blue ish color) do I need to hook that wire up to somewhere in the car ? I think all the speakers work currently but it doesnt sound as good as factory / especially lack of the bass. Maybe the factory Amp is not being powered ?
You want to make sure the blue power antenna wire at video position 05:28 is hooked up as that's what will turn on the factory amp that powers the bottom 6x9 speakers in the door. The remote amp wire would be used if you had an aftermarket amp (subwoofers) that you wanted to have control of turning on and off from the head unit settings menu.
Hi, great video!! With the steering wheel control's, do you run the swc(-) wire directly to the swc(-) wire on the head unit, or do you ground it externally?
Can you clarify which color wire from the 28 pin harness that you are referring to? I want to make sure I'm giving you the correct answer, but if you mean the black wire, then I've tapped that into the ground wire on the main harness. If you mean either of the switch wires, then there's go to the corresponding switch wires on the head unit.
Thanks for the video and review. Ended up buying it...I have the same head unit. Just don't know how to turn off the key press sound when pressing the screen. Do you happen to know how to turn that off? Thanks in advance.
Do you have the viofo camera wired up for parking mode? I have had 2 cars wired up in parking mode and both of the viofo harness modules failed so i replaced them both and those have also failed. I know what i’m doing with ACC/bat/gnd, its definitely the modules misbehaving i’ve verified with multimeter on inputs and outputs.
Hey Derrick question so I currently have this head unit, I have seen some Atoto have the start up logo on them. However I can’t seem to find anything on the A6 start up logo have you managed to do so? I want to put a Scion start up logo like on the OEM head unit
Since I don't see the logo unless I completely reboot the headunit, which is rare, I haven't bothered looking into changing the logo. I instead opted to use the AGAMA Car Launcher that had the option to use the Scion logo in the middle.
Having EQ and time alignment helps a lot. I ran my factory radio through a DSP and it sounded great. I only swapped in this new unit because I wanted more functionality.
Hey, I was wondering if you are still using the Puzu PZ-C7 that you talked about a few years ago? I've been looking at those, but have concerns about long term reliability. Not many videos about their products.
I still have it, but I'm not using it only because I upgraded to the PUZU PZ-X4800. I'm actually trying to figure out where I put my PZ-C7 so I can get a harness and install it in my other car.
hello! any way I can complete this process on the scion tC 2015 (2.5) without soldering? Would you know any other products that are more plug and play? Not many videos online for the scion tC2.5s so I really appreciate this one!
Car stereo installations are generally going to require making a harness because of the differences in plugs on the back of head units, although a lot of Android head unit to use the same 16 or 20 pin plugs. You can use crimps if you don't want to solder, but I always like soldering because it's more secure. I think I ran across a prebuilt Android harness at one point on Amazon, but it didn't have all the connections you need for it to be fully functional or you needed to modify some of the plugs to make them work, which is why I did not include it in the video.
Unfortunately, I don't know what harnesses will work with the 2011. It was hard enough just trying to find the correct ones to work for the 2012 and up.
Hey what do you think about the a6pf after 10 months? Do you find it slow and unresponsive? Do you usually use carplay or android auto? Much appreciated!
@@VampyreX13 First time doing this kind of thing, spent a few hours on wiring and just got mine working!! You make it looks so easy! First impression is big difference in Audo, the stock was better. Also my rear left speaker wasn't working, gonna re-check the connection in a bit
I installed this same product yesterday (not by myself - had help from someone who does this professionally), it worked great. Today it worked for about 1/2 hour then shut off, won't turn back on. I don't know why. I checked the fuses, etc. all are good. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue?
If the fuse is good, confirm you're getting power on the yellow constant power wire and red accessory wire (make the ignition is set to on). If you have power on both, then I would reach out to ATOTO support.
How’s the factory bass?? I installed a Sony double din car play on my tc but lost my factory bass. It sounds so weird without bass. Followed the wiring like this…. Any advice ? I already played around with the settings and no luck.
hey bro, I just placed an order for this head unit because of your video. thanks for all the detailed steps. Question: for the USB harness, you mentioned you connected it to storage. does where does that USB connection go to in the car?
@@VampyreX13 still new to all of this so sorry for all of the questions. but for the aux/ usb port, do I need to buy some sort of a new case to fit the atoto phone link and external usb cord in there or do I just let the wires dangle freely? I don't think I spotted the portion in the video that went over this part fully
No, you just plug the Red Wolf USB harness into the head unit's external storage USB port and the car USB connection to the harness. If you want to use the phone link instead, you can connect the USB to that, otherwise you'll need a separate USB port. That's why I designed that new face plate. You can probably just leave the phone link disconnected though as wireless Android Auto works well.
@@VampyreX13 thanks man! I'll be installing everything tomorrow. I was able to get your bezel printed as well. HUGE help indeed. Last question, do I HAVE to buy that steering wheel control harness to make steering wheel controls work?
It should be about the same. The only difference is that some headunits use a 20-pin connector instead of 16, so some of the wires that would have been on a separate harness would be on the 20-pin one.
For anyone following this awesome guide, please double-check if the existing backup camera is 12V or 6V. If it is one that was plugged into the factory head unit, you will need a 12V to 6V converter before hooking up the backup camera on to the acc wire.
