This CPU looks like a must for WoW. So much people rave about it. Also, I don't care about Valdrakken but in some of the world content and dungeons, I can see significant FPS drops. Like when dungeon boss casts AOE spells and pools on the ground, my FPS drops an insane amount. I'd like to get into raiding too and I'm afraid when that happens my FPS would drop even more. The ryzen 3600 is more than enough for non-MMORPG games but since I mostly play wow, it just doesn't cut it. Upgrading to this 5800X3D would make much more sense then splurging $2000+ for the newer generation AM5 gaming PCs. Although I will upgrade to that eventually but for now I'm going for this CPU. Thanks for the video man!
Thank you, this is impressive, I always argue with a guildmate using addons and weakauras for everything and you proved my point. It would be interesting to see how the cheaper 5700x3d performs but my guess is that it will equally lose some 20-30ish fps and 1% lows.
It's amazing how much difference there is when you turn off addons. Unfortunately nowadays I'm dependent on addons, especially Elvui. I have an R5 3600 and a GTX 1070, in some dungeons the fps doesn't help me, in raid it's even more complicated, I intend to buy a 5800x3d soon. If possible could you make more videos, I would like to see more performance from this amazing processor. Great video!
Yeah unfortunately wow's entire ui runs on one thread so all it takes is 1 bad weakaura or addon to make the rest have to wait. If you've ever felt laggy during bloodlust this would be why. Not sure I will make any more but thanks!
I'd just get rid of DBM tbh at least after you've learned all of the dungeon and raid boss mechanics. Details and Grid is all you really need. You can always toggle DBM back on if you really need it.
@@laxx2542 I assume I meant the shorter gcd during lust makes lag even more noticeable. You can mitigate some of it by playing around with the lag tolerance cvar but you could also make it worse.
Hello! Great video for a benchmark example. I've recently bought the same cpu, however, I can't reach the fps you get in the video. Mine is between 75-80 with a 3070 gpu. Do you have any idea why I can't get the performance you reach? I'd be so happy if you can help me. Have a good one!
Hey. There are plenty of guides out there already. Not sure why nothing happened for you, it's pretty straight forward. There is a dedicated thread for the tool on overclock.net you can ask for help there.
Can I ask what were you using before the 5800x3d? I am currently using the non 3d one and thinking if I should go 7800x3d or 5800x3d and I play 1400p as well, but can't really upgrade my GPU at the same time, currently using my old 5700xt.
@@talimarlol Value will always be subjective of course, but I upgraded from a 5800X to the X3D mainly for WoW and I've been pleased with the decision. Even paired with some highly tuned 3733 RAM, the 5800X really struggled in larger battles and Valdrakken, with drops well below 60fps (not even at max settings - I kept view distance/detail at 8 for example). The 5800X3D has really smoothed things out at the lower end and I'm yet to see a dip below 60, despite turning some settings up as well. Obviously both were fine for just flying around the old world and such, and you could just turn settings down, but a good deal on Black Friday made it worth the upgrade for me.
@@rz9wb Yeah the fps difference is irrelevant at those frames. But I have no idea if ffxiv leverages more cores or not. It was the only mmo example listed.
@@talimarlol Not if you are going for the theater look. Which you can do at 60fps with your 1% lows do not drop below 60fps. Actually the problem is even with the 5800x3D the 1% lows will be 145 with good memory and 151fps if you have tuned memory. You need 144fps for 1% lows to get the smooth fps you see in theaters and other fps games. 5700x3d might not be able to pump 144fps for 1% lows.

Yeah 60 is fine. There is no competitive advantage to having more than that, not so much because of the age of the game but more because of the type of game it is. That said, having more frames is nicer to look at.

Hey nice Video! What Software did you use to get the FPS etc.?
It's an overlay from Rivatuner. Comes bundled with MSI Afterburner
Hello, what is your resolution please ?
Hey it's in the description, 1440p. I just upscale the video to 4k to get extra bitrate from YT.
what is the software name that shws fps and spu usage and so on?
Rivatuner
Is there any settings in the BIOS that you configured to achieve this high FPS?
Not really. I don't have bios options to change the offset so I use the PBO2 tuner program to change it in Windows instead, that's about it really.

It was my bios driver. If anyone experience such a thing make sure you download the latest version of your mainboard's driver and install it!
@@alihanctak1008 Glad you solved it!
Great vid wish there was more like that
Which addons were you using in the first test
Too many to name. They are pretty much the same as shown in the beginning of my Jailer test.

Wow's entire UI runs on a single thread. So you quickly become CPU bottlenecked with many computational addons.

no/ only amd.

how does it compare to 5700x3d?
A quick google search shows it's about 11% less in FFXIV. Probably similar in WoW.
