Are you guys excited about Ultraman Rising?
Im hyped
no, americans only produce trash
No sorry😂
I ammmmm
Honestly no I'll watch the true tokusatsu series like ultraman arc
According to what we know of the plot
The protagonist did not combine with the Ultraman
His father was the original Ultraman and when he got too old he gave the powers to his son.
Yes that is Abaren-Oh/Thundersaurus Megazord. No Netflix doesn't own the Power Rangers copyright. Hasbro just licensed their shows to air on Netflix. It's more likely just an easter egg for us toku fans. Why Abaren-Oh was picked I don't know. You'd have to ask the director. Maybe Dino Thunder/Abaranger is one of their favorite Power Rangers/Super Sentai shows. I'm at least glad they didn't go with the obvious Power Rangers reference with Dino Megazord/Daizyu-Jin.
Maybe the animation was done during Abaranger’s anniversary year?
I think it meant to referece to the upcoming new Ultraman where they have Abarenger Red as their captein
@@syabilaazri7834 Highly unlikely given how long in production this movie has been vs Arc’s production.
Abared, Ryouga Hakua, is the VA for the main villain
As Ultraman otaku i really liking this Ultraman The Father a lot. Ultraman have many untapped potential of storytelling so i very excited to see the creator who taking upon the challenge and bring us Ultraman we never seen before. I honestly hope Tsuburaya do more experiments in Ultra Series to be honest.
Probably helps that the story wasn't originally intended to be an Ultraman film. Inspired by it yes but at the time it was it's own thing. Only until they moved the project to Netflix that Netflix staff got them in contact with Tsuburaya to make it into an official Ultraman film. Glad Tsupro liked the idea and approved it.
@@FireFury190 I imagine Tsubaraya was very open to it, seeing as they've been trying very hard to expand Ultraman as a brand in North America since 2019. Physical media, toys, collectibles, comic books . . . a pinball machine. They're giving it all they can without letting American interests take over the brand.
I actually really like the skinny look for Ultraman here. Kind of like how Shin Ultraman looked. Helps sell the alien nature of the character and sets him apart from all the muscular western superheroes we have over here. The trailer seems to imply that Ken got his Ultraman powers from his father. Like how Shinjiro got his powers from Shin Hayata from the manga/anime. I do like that the Defense Force is the main antagonists of the film. It's very rare that we have the Defense Force in the primary villain role of an Ultraman story. And seemingly just like Ultraman shows since Z they've got their own mecha.
Not that rare, it happened with Ultraman Necus when the Defense Force was against Ultraman
正直実写ドラマでやってほしかった
気持ちもある
I can't wait to watch Ultraman rising
Abarenoh's appearance in the trailer is an indication that the cast of the next Ultraman arc is related to him
There's something funny about you watching South Park, Taka
That sounded a bit odd to me. For one, South Park seems like a show that would be hard to understand if you weren’t immersed in American culture. For another, if it’s the only American animation he’s seen, is it because American animation is very niche in Japan? Hard to believe when Japan has its own Disneyland.
I'm excited. It looks like a lot of fun. The skinny design reinforces the idea of Ultraman being alien. And since this is animation, they can do it because they don't have to put someone in a suit. The whole thing about raising a baby kaiju feels like it could have been an episode plot out of a series like Taro or maybe Cosmos. And it's actually kind of a clever twist on the idea of "The power of bonds".
And Gokai-Blue
Somehow i want to see it as 3D capture camera, but the resolution it's to low to make detail model
I think AbarenOh is there because Bandai own the rights to both, though I think it might also be because it's a recognisable megazord for us outside Japan as Dino Thunder was a well liked season! I wasn't sure how I feel about the skinny Ultra design either, or the fact he talks so much as I'm very used to Showa Ultra, but I think it helps differentiate himself from his Japanese counterparts and it is similar to what they did with Shin Ultraman. I think him looking not very cool is also intentional as Ken himself is said to be not very good or confident at being an Ultra!
I'm personally excited and interested to see what they're gonna do with this movie since it's going for some different things from Japanese Ultra (kaiju parent, antagonistic/evil defense team), though I'm nervous with how many jokes and quips Ultraman in it seems to do since it feels a bit too much like a Marvel movie for me. I hope it makes for a good introduction point like Kamen Rider ZO so I can show my friends it!
Why do people always make quips seem like a "Marvel thing"? Action movie stars have made quips long before Marvel was a successful movie brand. People used to call quippy dialogue "buddy cop movie dialogue".
@@AdamYJ Probably because said people grew up with MCU movies and weren't born in the 70s/80s/90s 🤷
@@AdamYJ I mean, it's a superhero franchise so it feels analogous to say the quips feel like its American equivalent, especially since I'd count comic style quips within this. Of course they existed before but the MCU has a specific writing style about it that combined with being the biggest cultural movie franchise that's left me, personally, to be a bit fatigued with them feeling like it's necessary to do the same with Ultraman.
I could've also said it' like how modern western animated movies write their dialogue I suppose but either way it's a writing style I'm not too into and hope it's not too bad in the movie itself.
@@neroaction I always found Ultraman more comparable to Doctor Who or Star Trek than most superhero stuff, but I get your point.
I think it works here because Ken Sato strikes me as a character similar to Spider-Man who would put up a confident, jocular front as a coping mechanism to mask his insecurities (just his vibe. Won’t know until I see the movie). That might be a mark against it in international markets, though. Especially Japan, where I don’t think that character trope really exists much.
@@AdamYJ I would generally call Ultraman more like Doctor Who too, but DW has a very British sense of humour about it which isn't what I was trying to reference/invoke.
Yeah, that makes sense. It's not like we haven't had talkative Ultras before too and a lot of the rest of the movie is stuff not done in mainline Ultra so I get it, I think it was just a gut reaction more than anything else.
I do hope the gamble pays off for the audience it's intending on (which is international fans not familiar with Ultra moreso than JP fans I think) and that it ends up being a better introduction point than the anime and manga which I really dislike for essentially feeling more like Kamen Rider with Iron Man's aesthetic than anything resembling what I like about Ultra, especially with it getting a heavy promotional push and it being on something like Netflix.
I also wanna say I appreciate your cordial replies, discussions like this often turn into big arguments when they shouldn't.
You should check more western animation, there definitely some show to check out
Literally
Joe Papa
I'm not gonna have high hopes because Hollywood has an abusive penchant to subvert our expectations in a bad way.
They exceeded our expectations this time 😌👌🏻
Ultraman feels like a generic American superhero and they are definitely going to ignore the lore of ultraman in favor of mass appeal
Not really, talks wayyyyyyy too much, looks goofy to me. Very “Disney” looking
You can't really fault this Ultraman for talking too much when actual Ultramans like Zero, Rosso, Blu & Grigio talked a *lot* more. They are Ultra-yappers.
The notion that it “looks too goofy” is funny to me. Because that’s how most Americans see ALL Ultraman.
Bruh to me it doesn’t look like disney looking disney is literally only a gay cringe goofy ahh pixar movies🤡💀
I hate it since the first trailer was shown
