I can imagine this would be the scenario. Link: (Fires his slingshot at the window) Guard: (Looks out the window) Hey, you! Don't cause any trouble! (Tosses a bomb at Link, then walks away) Wait, wasn't there something I was supposed to do to that kid? Meh, I'm sure it's not important. Back to my duties.
When it comes to inaccessible spaces, I always wanted to go inside Peach’s castle in Mario Kart 64. Driving around on the castle courtyard was cool, but I wanted to drive thru the door and enter the castle so bad
Years of my life were spent trying to clip into the castle somehow. I knew in my heart that the game was broken enough to do it (all games were at the time) but I never succeeded.
You can! wen I was younger my brother found da weh in the cassle. First 1st) you need to win all the trophies (duh) Then 2nd) you need a blue sheel 3ree) go on the ramp where the cassle is and be 1st place 5th) go off ramp but aim at the mountin and and then fire the sheel and it'll hit you higher than normal but since youre in the air and moveing off the ramp you will go over the mountin but into the cassle door. 6th you also have to be mario Peach will then meet u at the cassle and door and give u a hidden trophy. It looks like Super Mario 64 room too.
Back in the days of my childhood, I always used to wonder and dream about reaching these inaccessible areas, imagining what they looked like or what was there. Of course once I got older and started being able to 'hack' into such areas, while also understanding game design, that sense of wonder was admittedly lost. Nowadays if an area is inaccessible, I already know that there's a good chance that there will be literally nothing there, or if there is, it will be broken and 'unfinished'.
6:30 the map you are seeing is Fossil Canyon, which is the first thing I thought of, as Horseshoe Gulch reminded me of the very last turn of that track. The intro cinematic has wizpig running through that turn in the very last scene. A weird coincidence or a hint that Horseshoe Gulch was never meant to be playable which is why it isn't even a circuit.
I’m here for the Goose Cut Content arc. These things are always so fascinating but most of us lack the energy to actually load these up and look around. It’s one thing to read about them, it’s another to see them on the screen as we would’ve all those years ago.
The horseshoe map on Diddy Kong Racing may had been a test map for corner turning when I think about it. It is possible they changed Hot Top Volcano design so players start using other vehicles. If I recall, it would had made all the maps on Dino Domain all car based if they didn't. I would presume they scrapped the water battle map with Dark Water Beach so there are more structures to play on. The scrapped map looked very basic and most likely easy to third party snipe other players with rockets. If I recall reading somewhere. The hub select island isn't the same island loaded in the intro cutscene. They are actually 2 separate maps.
I could listen to you talk about anything man. Cool video! These were the sorts of places that I loved to dream about when I had played a game to death each summer.
12:00 that seems like a proof of concept, it's small and devoid of finer details to make it easier to model, they probably made similar maps for the other stages initially to follow while designing the fully developed levels.
Its really interessting and funny, that a lot of developer struggled to fit their game on the limited space of a n64 cartridge. And Rare is like, oh yeah almost forgot, that there is half a game scrapped on the cartridge 😂
If you haven't covered it yet: the discovered beta maps from Ocarina of time are fascinating. Its been covered quite a bit already on other channels but so many hidden gems in there. Another thing is the footage of Luigi in beta super mario 64 actually being a thing. There is camera live footage from some japanese event before the launch of SM64 showing luigi clearly on a monitor in the background. Same model as Mario but green. Great video as always!
Hearing the music from Zelda really takes me back. I played Ocarina of Time for hours as a kid. Hearing it and the music of Pokemon Snap is giving me flashbacks to when I was nine years old.
Like the idea of this! Reminded me of something from when I was younger. There's a demo disc of Metroid Prime 2 that has a section of elevated walkway where some enemies come from and two doors on either side of it... I always wondered what was outside of those doors. Probably nothing, but I was never able to find a way to noclip up there or anything.
Great video as always Goose. I know you said you hadn't played mario tennis but I think you could make a great video on that game in a similar style to your mario golf video
That inaccessible first floor in the Courier mission bugged me ever since I was 4/5 years old playing TWINE on the N64 - you’re technically the first person to ever discover that broken computer! Please make more videos like this, and more content on TWINE in general as that game is so unappreciated compared to GoldenEye. Some of the maps such as Night Watch and Midnight Departure must have some great secrets
Glad to finally show you what was up there! I played around with Moon Jump on numerous other levels, and funnily enough Night Watch and Midnight Departure were some of the weirdest and most broken. Hopefully I'll do this again soon!
Not N64, but it always drove me nuts that there were so many inaccessable areas in _Kingdom Hearts_ (the first one). There's little shops, doors in castles you could never enter, and so on. I know nothing is in there but I wanted there to be!
Would love to see more videos like this; the N64 was practically my whole life as a kid, so you’re doing what I could’ve only dreamed of doing then. Also, my guess is for the monitor in TWINE, it might’ve been one of those placeholder items that, when trying to remove it, caused a huge break elsewhere, so they just kept it there to not mess with the code. Many such cases; would be fun to hear confirmation or otherwise from a dev on the game, assuming they’re still around and remember. Xb
For a more specific explanation for why the floor in the room behind Zelda is solid, it's because Ganondorf is an actor in that scene, like Link and Zelda are, and the floor needed to be solid for the kneeling scene or he would have just fallen through the floor like anything else that would hypothetically be introduced into that room. The other rooms are never meant to be more than essentially just background flavor, so putting a floor there was pointless and it was better to not make the floor solid to save memory space for other parts of the game, but the throne room needed a solid floor for Ganondorf because he's moving. The half-rendered guards are fine though because they don't do anything. They wouldn't fall through the floor.
I sincerely appologise for my treatment of you in my previous comment. This video is quite well done, amd the game choices are perfectly fine. You seem very earnest, and its clear you made the video with care. The information is from a new point of view, and not the same things you hear regurgitated in this sort of video. And, finally, you have a very interesting voice, and you seem like you're in it for the love of the game. I am once again apologetic for my previous unkind remarks. I was in a bad place, and didn't give you a chance. Your video is very enjoyable. Like and sub.
Ty so much for the james bond balcony. I dreamed once i was up there. But never saw in real and what there was to look at. :D now my mystery is solved!
SheSez did an out of bounds episode with Zelda 64. If I remember right, that guard in the window is only a top half floating there, and his models just tilts to the side to when he is needed.
Maybe Oak’s research was to see if Magikarp hanging out with Dratini would trigger its evolution to Gyarados (I know it’s a water type, but its design is very dragon-esque)
Kinda epic to walk where Ganondorf kneels in that cutscene.. love these kinds of exploration vids of classics, it’s like comfort food and fascinating… never saw the horse shoe track either
A video on the liminal spaces of Perfect Dark would be great, as there is a way to explore all of Area 51 in Perfect Dark in the Rescue level, for example
I'm all for more forbidden Zelda locations, on condition you ease up fidgeting with the Z button: I was starting to get motion sickness watching that segment 😅. Thanks for the video Goose.
16:30 As far as I can tell, noclip-website just shows the level geometry data from the games, without actually running the game-code like an emulator would. So the Pokemon shown are just some extras, that have been re-implemented. Meaning it's not certain the actual game would behave the same way.
I find that the L to levitate function is more interesting than exploring those out-of-bounds areas. Was the camera angle modified through Everdrive as well, or is the camera always meant to keep track of Link, no matter his position within the game?
I don’t think I knew about either of those Zelda windows having secrets when I was a kid. I feel like I have seen the guard who bombs you before, but I’m not 100% sure
I've always wanted to know what's on the third floor to the left in Imperial Freighter Suprosa, Shadows of the Empire. I'm referring to the last part of the level when you get to the cargo room which has these slide doors.
I always wondered if you could pick up the bomb and throw it back at the guard. For other places in games, I'm curious about the Carrington Institute doors on the balcony in Perfect Dark. I figure there's nothing there though.
It would be interesting to see for Super Mario Sunshine and The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker the limit of our map towards the open ocean on the GameCube console.
There are no need for floor for the guard throwing bombs because he's too a fake model. And if you pay attention you might notice that he is not animated, he just gets rotated. I think I saw that in a Karl Jobst video, not sure.
I feel the reason Pokemon spawn there is they intended for the player to continue on farther then thought about the Oak in counter after an forgot to remove the spawn just my best guess
That guard is strange. He's supposed to make sure no one can enter. instead he chucks bombs at children.
I mean... that seems like a pretty good deterrent 🤷🏽♀️
Egg on that guy's face if he ever accidentally hits the princess
Never knew about the bomb guard. I've played this game a couple dozen times. That's awesome I'm still discovering new stuff.
I can imagine this would be the scenario.
Link: (Fires his slingshot at the window)
Guard: (Looks out the window) Hey, you! Don't cause any trouble! (Tosses a bomb at Link, then walks away) Wait, wasn't there something I was supposed to do to that kid? Meh, I'm sure it's not important. Back to my duties.
He's the real MVP
When it comes to inaccessible spaces, I always wanted to go inside Peach’s castle in Mario Kart 64. Driving around on the castle courtyard was cool, but I wanted to drive thru the door and enter the castle so bad
I tried it so hard too 😂
Years of my life were spent trying to clip into the castle somehow. I knew in my heart that the game was broken enough to do it (all games were at the time) but I never succeeded.
@@wareforcoin5780 i was absolutely sure that mario 64 was fully playable if i can make it
I wanted it to be a shortcut through the castle. That would've been SO COOL! But alas, no.
You can! wen I was younger my brother found da weh in the cassle.
First 1st) you need to win all the trophies (duh)
Then 2nd) you need a blue sheel

It's so true. And there's perhaps no better metaphor for growing up than that.
I love seeing all these weird extra rooms
Man I would love to have an animated screensaver of that cozy Pokemon Snap lake!
It would look great on a 90's Dell PC with CRT monitor.
We're so old my friends
As my Grandmother always says. It beats the alternative.
I'm 23 shut up 😢
I was born in 1991.

thanks for the reminder numbnuts

Couldn't have said it better
I like this series and yes id like a part 2 Castlevania LOD,Star Fox and Turok 3 would take my votes.
You should make a full video exploring other forbidden places from TWINE… I would watch that a million times
12:00 that seems like a proof of concept, it's small and devoid of finer details to make it easier to model, they probably made similar maps for the other stages initially to follow while designing the fully developed levels.
6:14 Did you know the triceratops boss is the same Tricky the Triceratops as in Star Fox Adventures?

It just keeps happening!
I always wanted to see behind that gate in pokemon snap…that was honestly so cool
Not N64, but it always drove me nuts that there were so many inaccessable areas in _Kingdom Hearts_ (the first one). There's little shops, doors in castles you could never enter, and so on. I know nothing is in there but I wanted there to be!

Some of those unfinished Diddy Kong racing levels look amazing

"Volcano crater" was the term you were looking for. great vid

Subdrag is a name I haven't heard in forever. I used to be active on the shooters-forever forum 12-15 years ago. Good times.
SheSez did an out of bounds episode with Zelda 64. If I remember right, that guard in the window is only a top half floating there, and his models just tilts to the side to when he is needed.
Childhood dreams right here, exploring the unexplorable
Maybe Oak’s research was to see if Magikarp hanging out with Dratini would trigger its evolution to Gyarados (I know it’s a water type, but its design is very dragon-esque)
Well. This is new, i don't recall ever seeing stuff like this before.
I think we've all seen "out of bounds secrets" before. But nothing THIS cool.
Thank you 🙂
These are some of my favorites types of videos that you make. I'd like to see one on DK 64, Perfect Dark and mario kart!
Kinda epic to walk where Ganondorf kneels in that cutscene.. love these kinds of exploration vids of classics, it’s like comfort food and fascinating… never saw the horse shoe track either
A video on the liminal spaces of Perfect Dark would be great, as there is a way to explore all of Area 51 in Perfect Dark in the Rescue level, for example
the unfinished temple course in DKR, I believe ended up finished and released in DKRDS. I think I remember playing that a long time ago.
Props to you, Goose
Fun! I love Game Exploration! I'm somewhat of a searcher myself.
This was such an awesome video!!! You should do more cut content and out of bounds content.
the cosmic background is a great touch.
The horseshoe map is used in the opening cinematic, isn’t it?
I'm all for more forbidden Zelda locations, on condition you ease up fidgeting with the Z button: I was starting to get motion sickness watching that segment 😅. Thanks for the video Goose.

Walls could likely be solid if you turn nonclip off immediately off once you get into those unseen places. At least it works on Dinosaur Planet.
I find that the L to levitate function is more interesting than exploring those out-of-bounds areas. Was the camera angle modified through Everdrive as well, or is the camera always meant to keep track of Link, no matter his position within the game?
Aww a dinosaur friend
I don’t think I knew about either of those Zelda windows having secrets when I was a kid. I feel like I have seen the guard who bombs you before, but I’m not 100% sure
These were really cool. Wish you would've tried to see what was in Oak's cabin, even if it was nothing lol.
I've always wanted to know what's on the third floor to the left in Imperial Freighter Suprosa, Shadows of the Empire. I'm referring to the last part of the level when you get to the cargo room which has these slide doors.
These worlds were such a mystery to me as a kid. It’s cathartic to see them😂.
I always wondered if you could pick up the bomb and throw it back at the guard.
For other places in games, I'm curious about the Carrington Institute doors on the balcony in Perfect Dark. I figure there's nothing there though.
is it known if the room where the cut scene for the first boss in OoT is the boss room or are you teleported to a new room once the cutscene plays?
23:14 the destroyed computer monitor in TWINE is so funny
Looks like OoT's cutscenes are pumped through the gameplay engine (make NPC X do Y at Z timing) which would mean that it still has to follow at least some of the game's rules. As for the Castle Guard of Mischief's Retribution™®©, my money's on him being an _object_ rather than an NPC, just from the unique movement and behavior.
It would be interesting to see for Super Mario Sunshine and The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker the limit of our map towards the open ocean on the GameCube console.
Where is the iceberg pt 2?!?
I had forgot about that.
I've gotta re-record it, but it's still coming.
Wow, it's like a crossover with Boundary Break!
There are no need for floor for the guard throwing bombs because he's too a fake model. And if you pay attention you might notice that he is not animated, he just gets rotated. I think I saw that in a Karl Jobst video, not sure.
Do one with Ms. Pac Man Maze Madness, Banjo Tooie, Donkey kong 64, and Kirby 64 the crystal shards!
Never thought about just standing on the other side of the window just staring at zelda….
I loved this video! Would love to see more of this!
I feel the reason Pokemon spawn there is they intended for the player to continue on farther then thought about the Oak in counter after an forgot to remove the spawn just my best guess
Encounter*
Pondering the meaning of life as I watch this video
The top cone shape of a volcano where the lava and ash comes out is called the “throat” of the volcano.
I’m sure I saw a code for game shark to get to the other side of the gate in pokemon snap, but I might be mistaken. Anyway great video
Diddy kong racing was one hell of a game. Used the mouse all the way trough. Better than mario kart.
Do more of world is not enough!!
6:18
I assume the map in those pics is from whatever track they loaded Horseshoe Gulch over.
I didn't know there was another bond 64 haha! I thought goldeneye was the only one
These are cool i hope we can see more in the future😊
1:53 noclipped into the Linkrooms
Goose, Thank you for answering mine and many others (I'm sure) question about the TWINE balcony. the 10 year old me can relax on the matter now
wait a minute the horseshoe gulch is. playable ?😮 i would love to get a rom hack of that and play it on the everdrive cartridge for the n64
It seems like there might be a ROM out there but I'm not sure.
Hot Top Volcano Dinosaur confirmed for Smash.
Sick HTVD strats.
For the GameCube I own cheat discs you can use for the Zelda games including ocarina of Time.
I had a game genie and the 007 games for ps1 had some cool places you couldn’t normally get to
perfect dark and the golden cheese places next ?
I've always been fascinated with out of bounds stuff. But it kinda fells like finding out wrestling is fake.

Zeldas ‘Dais’
That's actually a great term for it.
stuff the average gamer saw 30 years ago with gameshark
next do beta quest
Shesez has a series like this called boundary break, and it’s much better on his channel
OOB stuff always makes me feel uneasy
There's meaning behind that.
SHINY GOLDEEN?!
