Rough Japanese translation: "I'm kind of thinking about adjusting the height, because the other muk is in a bad spot, it's like guaranteed that I won't get the bonus points of him being in the shot" "Yeah, how to adjust it is also a problem..." "Well if I decide the timing of when to shoot (the photo) in advance, I think I can kind of get it by counting down to that moment" "Oh, it's not there! It's not there!" (Whispering) "C'mon, come out quickly" "He's visible!" Then they just talk about which photo is better (while saying it looks promising) and he decides to go with the one on the left because muk is taking up more of the frame. At the very end the other guy says, 'dont run away' as he promised to stream longer and I guess after getting the record there's a good chance he'd just want to end the stream there. 翻訳・通訳できるように勉強してるからもし間違ってるとこあったら誰か教えてください

I was unaware of the new record, the notification truly shocked me, I never imagined this could happen. I believe a similar thing happened with Meowth, but finding another Pokémon that allowed for a bonus Pokémon in the picture, *and* believing that it could break the record, *AND* actually spending time and energy going for it is truly the mark of a top tier gamer. Seems like at this point, only Pokémon that appear once are safe, but maybe not even those (double Moltres egg spawn? Perhaps one day =P). Congratulations to feketerigo, and well done on the research, Goose!
5 minutes in you say "thrice" which happens to be my favorite word of all. It is severely underused and for your patronage I have like your video. keep up the good work.
that was so fun to hear the two friends talking through it in real time, even if i couldnt understand what they were saying. seemed to be having a good little time together while making history
sometimes the most fascinating stories are the most 'mundane' records being broken because the optimization is already so high. This is kinda like a new Dam Agent record
It's amazing that your childhood file still persists. My Snap cartridge got wiped several times along the way. At least it was an excuse to replay it. And the cave music really sold that speech. Cheers!

Yo I didn't wake up this morning and think I'd spend sixteen minutes watching a video about the greatest photo ever taken of a pile of toxic waste, but I'm glad I did.
the duality of using well know techniques, yet innovative application makes this remarkable. In theory, all the pieces where there. Even a casual player used all the techniques shown in his/her first play trough. Yet, no body has linked the pieces to gether. With golden eye or Perfect dark, the records are build up on each other. Techniques where discovered. Paths optimized. Known but difficult techniques/exploits where implemented to shave of fraction of a second to just up to the next round down. It's an iterative process building on it self. Even breaktrough techniques do not break records "unexpectedly", because setups need to be developed, pathing reoptimzed etc. - its a whole process. Sure, this record also has setup development, path optimization and grind - but it feels "pure" as only intended base mechanics are used in the intended way.
Nobody is saying "that's it?" because if you're sad enough to click on a video about a Pokemon Snap record being beaten in the first place you're gonna know what's up (myself very much included)
Amazing, I love hearing about this kind of crap. I still have my cart from when I was a kid. I dug it out, tossed it in my console. Turns out my best score was 3960...
Well that's cool. I still consinder this game to be underrated so it's nice to see a dedicated community of it still finding new innovations for it even if it's as simple as this.
I thought the part where you said that even the devs might not have gotten this score was like... a joke at first but after seeing what it is, yeah it makes sense now. this is actually incredible.
THIS IS WHY YOU NEVER SAY NEVER! There is nothing i hate more in speedrunning/highscoring than "this will never be beaten". Great video as always goose :)
feketerigo is a legend in both the original snap and new pokemon snap. His record are some of the toughest to beat and some of his strategy discoveries (and optimization of records) are crazy, especially at the speed he achieves these scores.
@@GamerFolklore Thanks! I had a few good shots back in the 2000s, though the untieds I had on CS have long since fallen. I always love seeing new tech in this game. So cool, after all these years. Thanks for the Snap content!
Thank you very much for your Pokémon Snap high scoring documentaries, as a high scorer myself I find them excellent! Keep up the good work, and maybe you'll talk about me in a future video, who knows... A little precision for 3:36 : the orientation doesn't matter for the pose points, it will always be 1000 as long as you take the photo during the animation that plays after you hit Muk with the pester ball.
Thanks and good luck on your Pokemon scores! I kinda figured that was the case with Muk. Very interesting how some Pokemon don't care at all if they're photographed from behind (sometimes).
goose if it wasn't for you, i would have no idea that pokemon snap high score hunting was a thing. thank you for delivering another incredible bit of lore. love ya king x
With this new knowledge, what is the theoretical best score for Muk now? Is it the 4030 he got, or, with insane luck, is it feasible to maybe get a perfect 1000 size as well, or even higher on the bonus, and achieve maybe 4070 or 4100 or something? I'm thinking the best way of figuring out the theoretical best, without luck actually getting it, might require looking at the possible paths and seeing if it's even possible for them to be set up better, but still, proving the theory with a hacked version or something could give a new achievement for people to work towards. Pretty cool that proving this was possible came from him tying the previous max thanks to the bonus instead of just something close to the previous record.
I think something like 4100 might be possible, and could end up happening. People have gotten 160 "friend" points with size in the 800s. So it could plausibly all add up.
I swear to god I actually tried to do this as a kid. I was never able to get 2 muks in frame and still get the x2 technique bonus, so it never came close to beating the 4000 score. But I tried to evolve all the grimers every single time I played that stage just for fun.
i wonder what other pokemon photos will be tried like this where you get a pixel of a pokemon in a photo to end the level with a second 'mon in the photo!
