Veil is one of those titles that blew me away, I've never read a manga just like it. And I loved how their relationship just unfolds and we get to basically be a fly on the wall. And don't worry, it makes me kick my feet too! It made me love the series so much I bought the volumes even though my Japanese is horrendous, I just wanted to own it for the art alone.
Other than how beautiful the art is. The reason you feel it’s very realistic is because it’s a josei manga! Josei is after shoujo in target demographic, the marketing being for adult women. The characters are often more realistic, communicative, and mature than shoujo and the stories can at times include darker themes. Highly recommended giving more josei manga a try!
@@Vallahrian chihayafuru, paradise kiss and nana are classics. And even though it's not considered josei, Bride stories and Emma (same author) are amazing as well. Isabella Bird has wonderful chemistry between the two leads. And if you like fantasy, Witch Hat Atelier has wonderful character development and worldbuilding.
Really, it's written like shoujo and shoujo ai/yuri is written quite frequently, at least when those genres aren't being pandered to...less than pure minds. Slow burn, implicative glances and accidental touches, and ACHINGLY sweet small stepping stones that gradually build up undeniable chemistry and romance.
Please give out recommendations for those shoujo ai/yuri titles! I've been dying to read something like that. The only one I remember really liking was Bloom Into You, then I move onto Citrus and I.. basically gave up on the whole genre lol. Which is a shame for a queer gal myself.
@@pikapikap5002 I usually like reading more tragic ones, but some generally sweet ones I've enjoyed in the past are: Still Sick!, Trying Out Marriage With My Female Friend, and 2DK, G-pen, Alarm Clock
I like how their relationship is vague yet clear at the same time. You obviously can tell they’re romantically involved with each other but some still question on whether they’re official or not. It doesn’t matter. We don’t and can’t ever truly know, as it seems like we are watching them from or through a veil. I’m sure most of us know the limits of our perception when you look directly at the thin fabric. Btw, great video! I was surprised to see this manga pop up on my recommendations. Subscribed.
@@Zombina638 yeah they are obvious. I won’t say I disagree with you tho since the story mostly shows their interaction with each other. Kinda curious what u think abt the writing if u care to elaborate?
"She's so bright in the world of black and white" The way my jaw dropped, its feels like you were writing a love story, and in fact that Veil is a love story, everything matched perfectly
I look at this manga as more of an art piece than just a piece of storytelling. I love the serene style that makes you take a big breath in what feels like a very busy world. You just look at the pretty pictures and the underlying tale of two lovers makes you smile for just a second and you know what? That is plenty.
I haven't read the manga yet, but just from seeing this video I feel that there are some inspiration from films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, The opposite sex etc. It's giving that vibe of where the two love interests are just kinda like companions, but we don't know if the romance is one that will be true and present at the ending owo; If it's out in English I would very much like to read. The art is beautiful.
Oh gosh I LOVE THIS MANGA. The storyline is soooo and the colors is sooooo and the scenery is sooo and the settings is soooo and the dialogues are sooooo and the characters are soooo and the art style is soooooooooo AMAZING, GORGEOUS, ELEGANT, SUBLIME, GOOD!!! 💓💓💓💓
Omg I didn’t expect someone made a video about this manga! I love the author since 2018! At first, she posted illustrations and short stories of those two characters on twitter then I fell in love with them instantly ❤

I’m not gonna lie… I thought I was going to have to go to the comment section and box you for that openly line… like bro… you play too much… them were literally fighting words. I’ve never had an ops in my life… but you dead ass was about to be my first.
I stumbled upon this manga a week ago on another website without searching for it and now it appears in my yt recs. It's so strange. The manga looks beautiful though
As always thanks in advance for the support, sorry for some of the low quality jpegs, couldn't find a good source for a higher resolution.
Nah, man your Edit is Fire! I love it!
i audibly gasped when u started with the line ''i hate this manga''
Same 💀💀😭

@@navyblue1538paradise kiss is still one of my favorite anime. It's so unapologetically girly and forward with its themes. Absolutely lovely.
@@navyblue1538 Sadly, nana is shoujo ^^', but yeah it's themes are more fitting for josei!

I thought it was about that andrew garfield clip where he describes emma stone 😅

Manga name?
Veil
This manga is made by a French artist, isn't it? It has that je ne sais quoi
The manga artist is Ikumi Fukuda and she is very much Japanese. You can look her up online, she also has other works aside from Veil.
Nope, but it's most definitely inspired by French comics, it has that vibe
I hate it too.
