Haven’t seen The Color Purple. I know the recent remake didn’t perform very well. I should probably check it out.

I literally only discovered the remake as I was doing research for the original. Had no idea it existed! No wonder it didn't do well.
I recommend it. It's a really well made film with great performances. Not the kind of film you can rewatch over and over but definitely worth watching at least once.
