- I explain the differences between an Infiniti G37 and G37S sport coupe, including differences on both the interior and exterior of the cars. Other features are also mentioned.
I forgot the mention the vlsd (viscous limited slip differential) which is also included in the sport model. It transfers power from the slipping wheel to the one with more traction for better power distribution.
The S doesn't just have bigger rotors, it also has 4 piston calipers up front.
Also, if you want a manual, you have to have the S. It's not available on the other models.
Additionally, the bigger sport brakes package is standard on the S. (Optional on the Journey, I believe). They have much bigger calipers with two pistons per side on the rear and four per side on the front.

I also have the 6 speed manual...paddles are for pussies. Also the brakes are significantly bigger on the S...4 piston calipers with 14" rotors compared to dual piston with 12.5". Bigger on the rear as well
Both vehicles are mechanically interchangeable if you want to spend some money you can add paddle shifters or a different front bumper to the regular model. The only thing you cant get is a manual transmission.
I must have gotten ripped off. My sport model doesn't have the paddle shifters. I just have a clutch pedal and the 6MT... Nuts

brandon jacobo face paml. It was obviously a joke hinting at the fact that a Sport model G37 should only have came in the 6MT. Not that I have anything against automatics, but there is a lot of performance lost in a standard automatic. Even with paddle shifters.
Jayson Wheeler Actually if you get a car in automatic from 2010 or newer its faster. New automatics are faster now because of the technology. still not as fun as a manual though
Yeah I agree I've been driving manual for 6 years and all newer semi shifts even a Lexus SUV has great performance compared to the older model manuals I've driven
I disagree, a standard automatic still has much power loss relative to its manual counterpart. The only exception would be a dual clutch automatic with paddle shifters. But not every car with paddle shifters is dual clutch, including the G37S or even the new Q60S 400. So for G37's the manual can always make more power and have generally fast shift times.
I bought my 2013 G37 sedan as an automatic and have manual swapped in and boosted it. It’s fun to modify, may go for TT next year or the year after
the admin uprev tune definitely made it funner to drive. Also the 460 WHP definitely helps

Yes, it has the 4 piston calipers, larger rotors and 19" wheels
to clear the brakes. Suspension is also notably stiffer and
offers up much flatter cornering. The S is basically an IPL
without the extra IPL hp gain in the engine.
The S should have came with a muffler delete

It's not even a real LSD it's a piece of s***. It's a viscous LSD which offers maybe 10 to 15% of what a real mechanical LSD will do.

Some major differences this video missed are... Limited slip differential, rear tire width (s comes with 245 instead of 225), close ratio transmission, and faster shift times using manual shifts on auto, stiffer suspension (slightly rougher ride)

G37S is actually a lot faster having the gigantic brakes, sport suspension/steering and a must have VLSD. Straight line they would be pretty identical if using the same tires but on a track an S would take a non S any day

Not everyone know that if you get paddle shifters from crushed infiniti you can install it on the regular and make it s model because every regular infiniti has those wires under the steering whell that allows you to install paddleshifters that will wokr perfect 👌

I've owned 2 of them both 6mt and I have no complaints... I've actually raced that new q60s and it was pretty impressive he was all wheel drive paddle shift and of course I'm rear wheel but he would get me on the launch and then I would pass him every time but just like the 6mt model shifts at 7500rpm the 7spd automatic does also it's pretty quick but the awd model is a couple hundred pounds heavier and and limited compared 2 a 6mt...

Are the 2008 S’ different? My car even says G3S on the ownership, but has no paddles, no sport seats, feels like it has the VLSD. Kinda strange, especially because it says G3S and it has an S badge

In your opinion...which is better? The g37s or the g37x? On curvy roads i see the potential for an awd coupe over the rwd, but I personally think life is a little more interesting when the back end decides to step out a bit....right of passage so to speak for "Good" drivers. But especially performance wise vs other all wheel drive cars like the subaru and evo, would the g37x be up there with them or more like the fat kid trying to fit in?
Does the std car have the dvd player? What about the Limited Slip Diff, the much bigger brakes, paddle shifters and Sport seats?

YES... clutch, throw out bearings, clutch forks, slave cylinders, check out any G37 forum to see a list of problems. Never once seen a problem on a 7 speed A/T
Its bc ppl dont know how to drive manual transmission cars properly. They change gears too soon and make the clutch grind and wear out quicker. Usually manual transmissions do need the clutch to be replaced before a torque converter but are less expensive than torque converter though. I have seen ppl take their manual transmissions sports cars to 250k miles before needing to replace it. However they were 2 older mechanics who had decades of experience driving manual cars.
You can test drive both and see which one you like better, if you're in Las Vegas I can set you up with someone at the dealership.
Good question, now that I think about it I, the g37x is probably safer to drive and more practical, especially in the winter. However they also make a G37xs with the features of both. Rwd cars my be more fun to drive because you can drift a little, but all wheel drive can be fun too due to the slightly better grip and therefore acceleration. I haven't had a chance to compare the car to other awd cars, however, I think they would be in the same class performance wise, but there are trade-offs.
Yes the g37xs is the way to go. Everything in one package. The best choice of them all.
Ok, the real, intelligent, answer is that the AWD ( X ) Model operates in RWD drive mode ALL the time, and only sends power to the front wheels when it senses front wheel slip. That's one of the reasons these cars have been called a "370Z in a Tuxedo" by many Media sources when this Model ( G35, G37 ) debuted. It's because they drive and handle like a true Sports Car, but are safe in the winter when you need them to be. I used to own BMW and AUDI. Never again !! lol ;)

Nope, no exhaust mods between models. There's plenty on the aftermarket however, definitely worth it.
Also when you slide it to the left it goes into DS mode which has a more agressive shifts holds the gear longer overall screw Manuel and get the 7 speed auto with the DS. G37s best buy over stock also the G37S gets the Helical limited slip diff that is found on the 370 Nismo you get a lot for the S! Way better than the Germans too!!!
Better than Germans my ass this thing chugs gas my friend has one and has to fill it up every 2 days while my 530i no matter how hard I drive I get amazing milage on it and almost as fast as this g37s ask yourself this why is bmw number one selling luxury car in North America.

With the way to find out if it has navigation, some cars like the scion tc have that map button but don't have the navigation feature so be careful

My g37s doesn’t have that lip at the front bumper. Has everything else though? Extended seats, paddle shifters and is automatic.
Is yours an 08? Mine is and doesn't have that front fascia either. Mine looks at lot more like the Journey, but with all the performance upgrades of the S

When comparing all G37 models to the G37x, or any other "AWD" car for that matter, they are only comparable under certain driving conditions. Unlike an EVO or Subaru which are full time AWD, the G37x model is a full time RWD vehicle, same as any other G37 model and only becomes AWD when rear wheel slippage occurs, and even then it only sends 50% of the power to the front wheels. So when it comes to acceleration or windy roads, the G37 and G37x perform and feel the same until rear wheel slippage
Doesn't the "Snow" switch on the center console lock it in 50-50 mode?
@@SteevK69 The Snow switch changes the automatic shift points to shift at a lower RPM. That's all I've ever noticed.
I have a 2007 Nissan skyline which is exactly the same other than that seems to be appointed far better than a premium it looks like they took the poverty pack version stuck a few more bells and whistles on it and called it an infinity and now they're flogging it off to you guys as a premium model but if you go to Japan and buy the premium model skyline you'll find it's far more premium and it's still where's Nissan nameplate

ok we all know the suspension on the S model is nice sporty and stiff... but no one never really reviewed the base suspension it had. like without the sports tune suspension should it drive alot more like a ''luxury car''

The regular G37 suspension isn't very luxury and is quite sporty as it is. I certainly don't want/need to be bounced around any more than that driving to work or running errands which is actually what most of us do after all. The S model has more aggressive (expensive) tires/wheels and being different sizes front and back they can't be rotated. These are just a few things to think about when you actually have to live with this decision.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information that the RWD accelerates faster, but it doesn't. AWD, even on regular roads without snow has better grip, and will accelerate faster. Also, AWD will be safer in the winter because all 4 wheels are getting power, resulting in less slipping. In a RWD, only the back two wheels get the power, causing a difference in power of front and back wheels, causing more slip, even if there is a limited slip differential.
namastesahib94 RWD version does accelerate faster on dry pavement. It has less power loss and weight.

I’m looking into a base model right now and it has paddle shifters I was told base don’t have paddle shifters but it’s a 2011 base with paddle shifters and navigation and sun roof so can anyone help ?

those brakes on the S are way better than the non S. One thing he didnt mention is that you get limited slip diff in the S model which launches better and has better handling caracteristics. You also get stiffer suspension. Only drawback is the 19 inch S wheels have a harsher ride.

How come it's basically just Mazda and BMW who have the correct orientation of the + / - on the shifter? :P On newer cars it might be a non issue, since they have paddles, but still. Pulling the stick TOWARDS YOU when braking is just wrong :P

I agree! Pulling the shifter toward you to for the 1-2 up-shift is more natural when you're thrown back into the seat... Someone on myg37.com was researching if this could be changed. Someone thought there was a ring that could be rotated or the wires could be switched to make it like a BMW or Mazda (like it SHOULD be)

Christian Padilla get 2012 or 13 they have all the bugs work done. Rubber seal was a problem they made it metal firmware is update trust me .
The '08 has a 5-speed auto. They switched to 7-speed in '09

base g37 sedan is faster than any other model g stock vs stock becuase it is lighter. It may not handle as well but in a straight line no other stock g is faster. Do your research first

Why people are saying G37x is safer to drive??? A AWD car don't stop faster in winter... It's just accelerate faster in winter. RWD G37 with all the electronic can't fishtailed so it's safe just like the G37x and RWD G37 are a lot faster in acceleration by almost 2 sec 0-60mph except on snow.
I have had both plus a 30 year history of drag racing... trust me when I tell you that an AWD G37 is faster in any circumstance than a RWD G37.

G35 S comes with LSD. RAYS wheels. BIG brakes stiffer suspension and if you're smart a 6 speed

It depends on what you intend to do with the car if it's a daily driver you don't need the dif if you plan on tracking the car then I guess you could go with the g37s I don't think there too much difference

The biggest difference is the gearing ratio. It makes the car a lot faster
Hard to explain so you should look it up on nissans website but basically the gearing is a good amount shorter than the normal g37. Seats and cosmetics like that shouldn't even be noted. Dumb video.

I'd say gears are a very big deal in looking at different trims. The lower trim g37's don't accelerate the same as a g37S

+Fernando Fernandez yeee I guess having red stitching and a little cooler wheels (which I'd replace) are some things to look at but all that can be changed aftermarket where you can't tweak gearing ratios nearly as easy. I'm just saying for someone looking into g37's- get the S because BIGGEST REASON: manual/better gearing- translation: g37 is cool, g37s is better driving dynamics which can't be changed after purchase
