We agree, sometimes the walks where you don't actually know where you are going turn out to be the best ones! We had a great day, and we were pleased we decided on these 3 small peaks in the end, as we got some gorgeous views. It was amazing watching the cloud flow across the big fells all day, then it seemed to disappear as shown on the time lapse, mesmerising😊 ☁️ ⛰️. This was a fantastic trip, wasdale never disappoints! Spend one night in one of these many years ago with my grandson, when he was about 3 years old and we had the biggest thunderstorm I have ever experienced in my life, yet he slept through the lot of it. Never done any of those 3 Fells so a real interesting insight and that sounded one dam windy walk. Nice view from Middle fell and Shell sure did set a pace to the second summit of the day. You were taking a chance with that baseball cap on but the wind did seem to drop a bit on the way to the final summit of the day. Looked a nice walk and a nice route too, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, Wow the rain was so loud hitting the tipi, so can only imagine what it would have been like in a thunderstorm, your grandson did well to sleep through it! 😳😄. These three little peaks really are a great alternative when in the wasdale area and the cloud has rolled in over the high fells. Still a rewarding climb, and offer fantastic views over to the scafell range and down to wastwater😊👌. It sure was a windy one though!!😂🙈 But it turned into a lovely afternoon by the time we were coming down buckbarrow. We had a brilliant weekend. Loved the time-lapse to watch the clouds rolling...and the peek inside your tee-pee! Very cool. We have some similar type glamping tents available near me in WV, but I've never stayed in one. Hey Dave and Sue, Happy Friday guys 🥳 Hopefully you are soaking up the sun today instead of being stuck in the rain (we watched your tenerife video last night) 😊 🌞. The tipi was great fun, such a novel and luxurious place to stay, we loved it 🥰. Joss naylor, agreed, absolute legend! We have had the privilege of meeting him a couple of times at the wasdale show, held at the top of the valley 😊🙌. Yewbarrow is a tougher climb from what we remember, but worth it for the views. We can highly recommend these three smaller peaks if you are ever in wasdale, they are a great option to get some views when the cloud rolls in over the big boys, and are always quiet👍. Yup, forecast got it wrong again 🙈. Although we were happy we chose the walk we did, we really enjoyed it, and we were pretty sure our views from the bigger fells would have been limited as the cloud did linger over those. Middle Fell is my go-to fell on days when the cloud is low on the high tops. Many times I've stood on the top of Middle Fell and looked at the cloud-covered Sca Fell range and been glad I wasn't there, while looking the other way and seeing the Isle of Man! Couldn't help smiling at about 7:40 when you said it wasn't too far to the top now! It's always worth the effort though.
Totally agree! 😊👍 Middle fell is a fantastic alternative to the higher fells on a cloudy day. Still a rewarding climb, and those views over to the scafell range are magnificent, we loved watching the clouds roll over the high peaks throughout the afternoon 🥰. I'm always on the lookout for YT videos showing the places I love, and watching this one was almost like being there. Less than a month ago I was on Middle Fell and also Seatallan (on different days) and I agree wholeheartedly that that ascent of Seatallan is a tough one! By the way, a visit Joss Naylor's cairn would make a nice variation of the route from Seatallan to Buckbarrow.

Wasdale looks stunning guys even though it was not the heatwave ! Love the accommodation, so big with the chilling area, very impressive 😃We love charades too, well me and our kids do , haha Alf thinks it's hard work ! The Tipi looks fab...was it expensive ?....i rate that view of the Scafells from Middle fell.....looks like maybe you should have headed to the bigger fells..fabulous video
Hi Steve, Hope you are keeping well. The tipis are quite expensive, around £75 per night, but then the facilities on the national trust campsite are second to none. We felt it was worth it for a special and unique stay😊👍. We agree, the views of the big fells from middle fell are stunning. It was funny watching how the cloud moved over the big fellas through the day, it came and went, but in the end we were glad we decided to go up 3 smaller peaks, we got gorgeous views and even some sunshine by the end of the walk, happy days! 🌞 Have a great weekend Shell and Pete😊👊👍
