I (Male) was drugged on my 21st birthday on 6th street by a group of ladies posing as a bachelorette party. They offered me a single tequila shot that sent me far over the edge which was very weird considering it was my first drink of the night and I weighed close to 200 lbs. One of the girls insisted she already called an uber for me but luckily for me my bike was locked up outside. I made it 15 minutes and 2 miles before I lost all motor skills and passed out outside of an elementary school somewhere to the east of the bar. After that I have no recollection of a taxi driver picking me up and somehow making it home with no further issues. I'm still friends with the poor guy that dragged me into his cab because I'm almost positive he saved me.
Did you ever report this incident to the police? They could have then n now, search for clues/video footage. This is a serious crime, and thankfully you woke up safely and survived.
I, like many other men that have been in this situation, was actually too embarrassed and felt like I would not be taken seriously by the police. I was just happy to be alive and didn't want to add insult to injury as it became a very real and scary moment for me. I actually suffer from PTSD because of this and do not trust anyone being overly friendly, male or female.@@nm3547
Ruffles leave the blood stream pretty quick. Any chance you remember if anyone else was offered a drink bc maybe the bartender gave it to you specifically
I worked as a bouncer for 6 1/2 years, and one of the things I was immediately taught, and then saw for myself, was people getting their drinks spiked. I caught people doing it, always males. Our policy was if someone set their drink down and walked away from it, and it wasn't on a table that someone was watching, it got dumped. We would replace it if their was a complaint. At a bar in our city, a bartender was arrested for spiking women's drinks. The truth is that this happens way more than folks realize.
The workers are in on it too at a strip club the female workers spiked my drink thinking it was for me it was for my wife she says she couldn’t remember a thing after drinking it
I live in a small rural area in Germany. Even here drinks get spiked all the time… just never leave your drink out of sight. Nowadays many use a protective cover for their beverage…
Living in Austin and seeing these for the past 10 years or so. This HAS TO BE AN INSIDE thing. No way a guy going to Rainey Street and taking people and nobody not seeing them. They must have some kind of operation that starts at the bar. There is NEVER any traces going on over a decade
I think you’re right. I seen/read a few bar owners dippn out (which were from different countries - not US based) does that matter maybe 🪢 but i still believe some owners could be N on it 🤷♀️

That’s because the judicial system doesn’t care. They get paid to do nothing. As long as they pick the right political party. We’re like cattle to the higher ups.
I've been an Investigator for nearly 24 years and there are so many things wrong with these cases. Sounds like APD needs new Investigator 's, a new police dept as a whole.

Nah it happens more than you think from jumpers. They bound their hands and feet so when they hit the water the bound hands and feet stop the bodies automatic response to save itself. Sad but true. Sucks right.
I lived off i35 in an apartment complex from The 2018-2019 that faced Ladybird. Five of these men were four in the year I lived there. It was always so eerie how they were mysteriously determined as suicides or never publicly investigated. It makes me wonder if someone in law enforcement was involved.
this right here is why i drink at home, strong as i want, better entertainment, better bathrooms, more comfortable, no undesirables, no drugs, no driving home drunk/cabs, cheaper drinks, and no CREAPS
In November of 2023 I was drugged on 6th street in Austin! My friend and I had a shot poured from the same bottle of whiskey at Vulcan Gas Company. We both were completely incapacitated on the side of the road. An hour later. His wife was there and luckily made sure we got home safely. I woke up with a broken ankle but otherwise unharmed. It was a very scary experience. Yall please test every drink you buy, even if you watch them pour it. The bartenders spike bottles too
This happened to me in Detroit in 2005. I was used to driving moderately for years. Went to a bar in Detroit got some drink 🍻 and went to another bar short after and I passed out and was outside of the bar because it had closed. Luckly my friends never left me. They do be spiking drinks.

Julio was my classmate in high school. He was very sweet. He had just graduated from college and was about to start his life. It’s sad that it ended so tragically and there was no real closure. I hope this video raises awareness and makes APD look into this closer.
That police department and these two particular bars need to be investigated... it's like the P.D. there is an accomplice to whoever is working in the two specific bars where these young men were drugged... No one has mentioned if any of these men were sexually violated. I'd willing to bet they were
I had a friend who was temporarily homeless in Austin about 10 years ago and he was already talking about mysterious deaths like these, especially in the homeless community.
Does anyone else feel like the cops and the whole system is working together? It’s the facts that after so many deaths they have yet to set up cameras or even have the area more secure. It’s so upsetting that they continue to let this happen.
Did anyone else find it extremely disturbing that the person interviewing the man who woke up a month after being found was laughing hysterically? What a sicko.
I lived in Austin and went to UT. Even back in 2015, there were whispers of a serial killer targeting young men near campus and downtown. It wasn’t yet being reported in the media like it is now, but people were definitely talking about it. Scary how long this has been going on.
The lack of concern from not only the police, but the bar owners is unbelievable. No one is that inebriated after 4 drinks over 7 odd hours. That is a nothing amount of alcohol. He was 100% drugged and that bar was told that and wasn’t worried? Why these bars aren’t showing more concern for their patrons is beyond me.
Family has to civilly sue. Bars have to carry insurance for this and putting the bar in the limelight with a civil suit causes the other local establishments to do better. I did a stint bartending and our wait and bar staff all had to carry professional insurance too.
I’m Australian, so our laws are clearly different. When I was younger I worked in pubs, and security cameras are a legal requirement here and so is the amount of time they have to hold onto footage incase it is required by law enforcement. That is more the angle I was talking about. I don’t think you should be able to sue a pub/bar because you were spiked there, but if a complaint is made to police, that footage helps identify the person responsible. I wouldn’t think a bar would want to be know as the place you go to get spiked and it’s owners be so unconcerned about it. Just seems so odd to me.
It’s not law enforcement it’s the politicians. They defunded the police. Back in my era we had police officers at every block keeping us safe. So sad how the city got ruined. The state tried to hire dps and the city blocked them as well. I think it’s a drug slipped into drinks at the bar.
I was drugged in Dallas but at someone’s home. And the worst absolutely happened. My story went viral on Twitter but the emotional scars and trauma from that night are incomprehensible. I will never know what he did to me. But he paraded around a trophy photo of me, on Twitter. My eyes were glazed over and I looked dead. When I woke up I had no memory of the night before, only consuming a drink and passing out. I am lucky that man did not kill me. It could’ve been far worse. My heart goes out to these men and the families affected. The person(s) doing this are evil. Disorienting this person, stalking them, and then killing them and they had pure intentions of just enjoying the night out. I hope they are found.
I’d heard this from people in Austin, other people denied it. Makes me wonder, I was working as a Lyft driver when I picked up a guy in north Austin wanting to go downtown. Then to a second destination. I swear the guy was going to kill me, so I came up with an excuse within 5 minutes of picking him up that I had to take a friend to the emergency room I can’t take you. He ran off into the dark away from the gas station. First time I’d ever felt that way in my life and first and only time I’d ever kicked someone out of my car.
My son moved to Austin, Texas about 4yrs ago. He moved with his high school friends. Since he moved I have been so worried about him because he doesn't have any family in Texas. He was a bouncer at a club for a little minute but quit because they didn't pay him for working. Now that i know about these crimes in Austin Texas i will stay contact with my son. Wow, i can't believe this. So sad.😢
I was drugged with GHB many years ago at a very popular bar in Portland, OR. Everything that guy described was what I went through. It was so horrific. Had my male friend not found me slumped on the women's bathroom floor, Lord only knows what would have happened to me. I pray for the loved ones of all the victims to find healing, strength, peace, and answers..🙏✝️

Happened to me in 2013… I was in the bar to use their WiFi and I wasn’t even drinking alcohol. Luckily, I lived across the street and my son saw the man trying to drag me into his car. We should have called the police, but it took a couple days before I really sorted out what had happened.
An old coworker of mine at a bar told me a story where the entire bar was drugged. Some creep drugged the garnish tray, so anyone with a lime/lemon/cherry/olive in their drink got drugged. He also got drugged from handling the contaminated fruit. The creep was just trying to wipe out everyone to pick off their preferred prey. So scary!

A friend of mine was dragged downtown in atx around May 2023 this year. Sounds just like some of these stories. He was out drinking, got drugged, his phone was taken and they used his fingers to unlock it, stole his money, and his car and somehow dropped him off at home where he woke up the next day with no phone, no car and all his money in the bank gone. Someone in atx or a group of ppl are doing this here for sure.
I feel like the guy talking about being drugged was mocked for it or wasn't believed by those he needed support from - either the police, friends, family, gf, or all of them. The way he talked about it gave me that impression. If you've ever been drugged, you know it. He was very accurate in the symptoms and how it feels. Native Austinite here. I've been upset about the under reporting on this. It's always been an issue and as someone who used to frequent the bars around Rainey, there's just no way someone would wonder down to that water without being lured or forced in some way.
100% agree. Everyone that has asked me if I’ve heard about these cases is surprised when I explain how it is possible but extremely unlikely that anyone would “accidentally” fall in the lake. You would have to go out of your way to intentionally get in the water and nobody that lives here (no matter how drunk) would want to go for a dip, alone, late at night, intoxicated in Lady Bird Lake. Maybe one person as a freak accident but not in the numbers we’ve seen. Also, how about all the dogs that have died after swimming in Lady Bird Lake because of some toxic algae?
Rest in Peace, Riad. You were a loved teacher and you are missed and not forgotten. He certainly did not take his own life, and it is frustrating that there is not more concern from the APD detectives on these cases. I’m not sure that Riad Hamad’s story fits with the spiked drinks, robbery ring MO. I am so sorry for all who have fallen victim and their families. I think your theory is a good one. Thanks for making this documentary. 💚♾️💚🙏
This happened to me on Rainey St. in Austin Tx back in sep 2020. I felt like I never felt before and I was a crazy drinking college student who was in a Frat at Texas State right up the road from Austin so I was not a light weight AT ALL. I had two drinks and completely disassociated mentally and physically. Container bar has been accused of this on reddit also and thats where I was. Luckily my public stumbling and resentment of illness caused a scene big enough to have the local cop arrest me for “DUI” and book me. Strange enough I was not charged or anything but simply released the next morning with no consequences. I could remember nothing the next morning AT ALL. That “arrest” possibly saved my life and ive been more that uneasy about that day for the past 4 years. Especially as of lately with hearing all these mirroring stories. Austin there is a problem.
The amount of men in the comments saying they've experienced the same thing in the same place is wild. The amount of people who have studied crime investigations and know that something's off and being covered up is sad. This clearly needs to be investigated thoroughly!
Yes …. Wow… I am so so sorry this happened…. It happened to a friend of mine too while down on Rainey st. I am still so thankful that a couple who were walking down Rainey saw my friend (who was very clearly a young college student) talking nonsense to himself as he started walking in a direction that made no sense…. The couple walked over to him (don’t know all the ins and outs) but talked him into letting the girl “borrow” his phone …. She looked at who he had called the most in the last couple days and that person happened to be me…. She basically described what he was doing and acting like …. Which was highly out of character for him….. they stayed on the phone with me till I got there …. He was so irrational and belligerent that I didn’t even get the couples name ….. they saved his life that night he and I both believe this….. he knows at some point earlier he was at Container bar but he doesn’t remember the order of the bars he went to…. So yeah something is happening on Rainey that is for sure!!
I've lived in ATX for 23 years, and this city, as a whole, is notorious for downplaying and, or covering up crimes. Especially murder. Austin has always seemed to me to deny that hard or violent crime happens here. The city council, police, and even journalists here go to great lengths to pretend it's all just an accident or an isolated incident. Frankly, I am really disgusted by Austin's journalists in particular. I feel that it's their job to report and hold accountable officials who are clearly not doing their jobs. They are just lazy.
I was also drugged with ghb in downtown Austin (kung foo saloon) but my friend and i watched our drinks the ENTIRE TIME and felt horrible after 3 drinks. It was nothing like I’ve ever experienced before and hit close to home when that one guy explained his experience with ghb. I firmly believe it might have been a bartender
One of the other comments from a bouncer at a bar in Austin said that there was a bartender that got caught spiking drinks. I don't think it was the bar he worked at
One rather important point not mentioned in this piece is that if the cause of death is drowning, there WILL be water in the lungs. And if a corpse is recovered from a body of water WITHOUT water in the lungs, that person was dead BEFORE being placed in the water. It was not mentioned whether any of the victims were recovered with or without water in their lungs. It is really not too difficult for a "journalist" to get a copy of the coroner's finding on the cause of death.
As a Texas resident this documentary is both wonderfully informative and deeply disturbing. I live in Dallas and about 6 years ago there were a number of bodies found in lakes around the area. For a short while I was wondering if we had a serial killer as well, but what you have found seems to be a far more plausible explanation for it. Thank you for shining a light on these deplorable acts.
Late 90s they actually reported about the Trinity River killer and claimed there wad a serial killer in Dallas. Couple years later, never existed nothing to see here.
@@anonymoose116I live in Portland Oregon for the past year or so there have been around 5 or 6 women that have went missing and been found dead. The police and everyone swore up and down they weren't related. Well guess what they were and they are accusing one man for four of them
Austin police ruling a duct taped body as self-inflicted tells you all you need to know about how much they care about the safety of their citizens. You're all on your own over there.
Listen to me. You almost always are on your own, no matter where or when! Don't forget that. We pass by these monsters and never know more than we passed a monster if we are observant enough.
I’m from Austin and this happened to me also last year while drinking at Bungalow on Rainey st. I was out with a friend when he said I just disappeared and wouldn’t answer my phone. The next day I woke up on Lambie st across from the culdesac. I woke up and I still had my gold necklace, my wallet and a new pair of Nikes I had just bought. It was really odd waking up downtown next to the road. I’ve been drinking since my late teen years and don’t ever recall experiencing anything like that night. I too feel like someone must have slipped me something. Bungalow is no longer there but I’m sure whoever is doing this is still in Austin.
I think, if there is a serial killer, he is definitely someone who works with the police department because it doesn’t make sense that they wouldn’t take an allegation of a possible serial killer in their town seriously enough.
“A fall in the water “?! No way could someone sustain those types of injuries all at once from falling into water! Has it been the same doctor determining the cause of death with all of these people? Why hasn’t a major investigation been done, and why isn’t anyone getting second autopsies done on these victims?
@@RabbyRabbitholetotally agree. I thought that from a few moments in. No way this many absurdly related deaths occur without massive investigation unless there's some level of law enforcement cover up/involvement.
The guy who recounted his story: I had that exact same thing happen to me. Went to the bar with some friends and had just a few drinks. I normally drink whiskey but that night I wasn't feeling like partying too hard, so I started off with a beer. I think I had 2 beers and a glass of whiskey and somehow got the most absolutely hammered that I have ever been in my entire life. Went home with some random woman and could barely get out of her car but when I did, I couldn't do anything but lay on the ground in her garage and that is where I stayed. Couldn't even talk. I tried to. And my thoughts were clear but I could not make a single word come out coherently. And the wildest part is that I woke up just a few hours later and felt 100% sober. Groggy but sober. I don't know if it was the girl that did it to me or not but what I do know is that I'll never go out in Redding CA again.
I spent 2 decades in Austin. APD is one of the laziest police departments in the US. They are inexperienced to serious crime. Austin used to be a hippy town where college kids were known to party on 6th (red river district). Unfortunately APD doesn’t take anyone seriously that go down there drinking. The bars overserve with no consequences and the only “crimes” that are addressed are open brawls. What used to be a safe, hippy, college town blew up in the early 00s and crime went through the roof, but APD never adapted. It’s disgusting how APD blows off these victims found in ladybird lake, but not surprising.
I use to go to Austin for the hippieness....I havent stepped foot in Austin for over six years now, nor will I. I hate Austin and everything it has become.
So many of these men looked very similar- the murderer has a type. The inept, passive, corrupt or compromised law enforcement story is told way too often. Their dereliction of duty is blatant! So ready to see this reality change. Sorry for the tremendous loss to all their families and friends. Good reporting!
Regardless of their actual backgrounds, almost all of them _looked_ passingly Latino. That can't be a coincidence. Political rhetoric about the southern border is pretty toxic in general, but particularly poisonous in Texas.
@@damonroberts7372poisonous or true? My mom grew up in Arizona and it's clear you didn't grow up on the border or you wouldn't label facts as poisonous
Omg! This was roughly 2.5 years ago. My coworkers used to joke about it calling me a light weight which is not the case!
By your reaction, I’m guessing that you didn’t report it to the police? I wonder how many other unreported cases there are. I’m so glad you made it back to your hotel room safely. It might be worth putting in a report, just for records sake. Clearly the police need more pressure.
My friend went to Vegas and became friendly to someone gambling next to him. He remembers going to a table with her, and nothing else. He woke up in his bed, with no money, and no idea what happened. This absolutely does happen.
Honestly, I believe men are more of a target because they're less likely to report anything because they're embarrassed, or they're not as on guard as women are. I know I'm a 44yr old 5ft woman and I've thankfully, never been robbed, etc. My sons, except for one have all been robbed, or carjacked.. Sounds crazy, but I think some robbers have a code that they don't go after women if they're men. I'm starting to wonder if all these men were either drugged and fell into the water because they were so disoriented or robbed and thrown in, the robbers not realizing how disoriented and immobile they were.. hopefully APD does start to take this seriously, because this is so sad and infuriating..
Sounds like those who weren't overdosed and survived WERE robbed. The narrator of this video posits that those who die from the drugging are thrown in the lake. @@sfletch3042
It’s very frustrating and upsetting that APD isn’t doing more to bring justice to these victims and their families. And The Side Bar needs to be investigated, because it sounds like some of the bartenders are responsible for drugging customers.

There has to be something weird going on. I live in Perth, Western Australia where our population is about double the size of Austin, Texas. People die in boating accidents, bull shark attacks etc in our Swan River but if this excessive amount of bodies turned up in the water then there would be massive work done by our police to find out why. We have had a few serial killers with one who killed 3 women in the 90’s who only in the last few years was caught and prosecuted. The police never gave up on the case. The Austin Police Commissioner (Sheriff/chief) needs to go as surely the public cannot be accepting of this standard of policing?
APD is responsible for a population twice as large as Perth. So funny for a 75 IQ Australian to talk about crime clearance rates when hundreds of Abos turn up dead every year and the cops don’t care one bit.
I'm from South Australia "Adelaide" She's definitely right where only couple hours flight from the state i live in,but I've noticed on our News about what was going on & thought the same thing has to be a serial killer can't be bull shark attacks constantly.
This really needs to be shared widely, considering that in two nights, we have New Year's Eve, where there will be hundreds of thousands, if not millions of victims out on the street, celebrating the New Year coming in.
I was roofied at the end of an evening at a "friends" house. This was over 30 years ago and the low life got away with it. It's very good that this is openly talked about thus raising awareness of this method of incapacitating victims🤬.
One of the best reporting I have ever heard. I was glued the entire time. This is sad and nothing is being taken seriously, almost seems to be a cover up.. My condolences go out to these families who lost their loved ones. As a former resident, it is sad to see Austin turn into what it has become.
I’m an Austin native and current resident. This is a highly sensationalized ‘documentary’, NOT fair and accurate reporting. While these deaths are regarded as suspicious by locals, they are not considered an overwhelmingly threat.
The more and more I'm listening to this... to me and almost sounds like a police officer or someone that works with the police office is potentially involved in all of these "accidental drownings" and mysterious deaths
Thats what i was thinking especially cause the first case had a muslim guy being ending up dead after recently being searched by the fbi and had a case with them.
It’s suspicious that the first victim was under investigation by the FBI and I think it’s obvious that the circumstances he was found in, he didn’t do it himself… so who did it? Thanks for sharing this story, this is the first time I’ve heard anything about these suspicious deaths in the lake in Austin, Texas! There’s obviously something suspish about all of this! 💯
I lived in ATX 2013-2020 and the bar scene definitely is sketchy. I lost my husband during SXSW cause there were so many people and when my husband approached APD for assistance they completely blew him off and made some obnoxious comments about me probably leaving with another guy and told him to be on his way. I had a panic attack and some people stopped to help me cause I was freaking out that bad. We still talk about how they offered no help. APD needs to step up and help the community, I pray they take action sooner than later.
All law enforcement in Texas is governed from the state house. The mmass murders in el paso and Uvalde were covered up. SO, any murders in austin will be swept under the rug!!!😢
I live in Seattle. There are several lakes (including the huge Lake Washington). Then (of course) there's the Peget Sound. The city is literally surrounded by water. And yet, there are nowhere near the number of deaths from drowning in Seattle as there are in Austin. Then there's the fact that most of these victims are men of a certain age. These deaths are very bizarre.
For a few years, I used to work in a park by a large lake, the place absolutely surrounded by bars, hotels, private clubs, nightclubs and off licences. It was an area well known for very heavy tourism, so it was thriving day and night, much more so than Austin I suspect. And not once, in all those years I worked there, was a body found in that lake. I left 30 years ago, and never since has a body turned up in that lake - and yet a murder would be an easy thing to achieve there. This video is simply extraordinary. Indeed, I can't make up my mind what is more bizarre: the number of dead bodies in the lake or the fact the local police seem so indifferent to the situation. Even with the evidence of survivors of spiked drinks 'in the same area as where bodies have been found,' they still shrug it off as a line not to be pursued. Also, note the similarities between most of the victims? Not all, but the vast majority tick a few specific boxes.
It sounds like someone is slipping a roofie into their drinks. If that’s the case the drug is metabolized quickly and traces are hard to find. People were getting roofied in our area, which happens to be a very popular tourist destination. Our sheriff’s department took this so seriously. They had deputies at bars and nightclubs. Bartenders and staff had meetings on how to be diligently alert. Patrons were warned not to take a drink from anyone, never sit them down unattended and walk around with your hand covering the top of your glass. Since this was handled so quickly the people that were trying to roofie someone really couldn’t. The incidents stopped.
I used roofies when i was a junky. You don't bathe in your own sweat as a result of using it. Not even when mingled with alcohol. If it were roofies, more people would die bc it's very deadly in combination with strong liqor. I am thinking something far stronger and the sweating is result of poison.. I had quite a few alcohol poisonings in my day and it makes you sweat buckets. These people didn't have enought to experience alcohol poisoning but in combintation with that drug... it seemingly results in constant sweating.
I’m subbed to both Law & Crime Network as well as The Disturbing Truth. Brilliant collaboration. This story was eye opening, not only for the lack of police action, but also the direction and speed to which these new types of crimes are taking. Thank God people such as yourselves are out there asking the right questions and keeping the public informed.
How does law enforcement get away with declaring a self-induced death when a person's hands and legs are bound? and if there was duct tape around his head...wouldn't that be noted by the coroner?
Nah I'd say it's way safer in terms of public security than it was in the 70's 80's. There is just a lot more scare material floating around. Once again for the trillionth time, don't believe everything you see on the internet.
I disagree. In my 30's, 30 years ago, I managed a bar near a college campus, for 3 years. It's one of 5 bars on a corner. Nothing even remotely like this EVER happened back then. Things have changed ALOT in this country, and in the world.@@mistiblu9133
I grew up partying on bourbon street and some of the most popular party scenes all along the gulf coast. There are without a doubt bartenders that will drug unsuspecting patrons then tip off another partner to assist them in draining there bank account via the ATM as the victim is intoxicated via GHB or other designer intoxicants. This was back in the early 2000s so I’m sure this still goes on especially in such a vibrant party scene as Austin. People do your diligence and always be aware of your surroundings.
Intresting not much fun watching your back all night you can't even dance cos that's when they spike your drink when your dancing, happened to me and I had a feeling the bartender was involved, I woke up in jail with a broken leg when my drink got spiked in the backpackers down under in Brisbane. You were irresponsible and left a drink at a table or the bar while you went dancing. How ignorant are you? Grow up and take some responsibility for your actions. The first thing you learn when you start going to bars is not to leave your drink unattended. Who's the victim, you or the bar owner that you blame it all on? Jeesh @RAPINCITE
For this to keep happening and the amount of men that have been found deceased, there’s something very wrong here! The bars should be investigated at this point everyone is a suspect. This whole situation is a Horror movie in real time!! I feel heartbroken 💔 for all the families that have lost their loved ones. May they all get justice for the victims!!
Thank you for sharing this. We've been thinking of moving to the Austin area. We're in our 50's and don't go out to drink, but still, this is not something I would expect from any police department. What else are they ignoring?
Since the police department was defunded quite a lot unfortunately. There is a lot more crime than there used to be.. with slower or selective response times from them.
I live in a popular tourist destination on the Pacific Ocean. We have have literally millions of visitors here every year. We only have a few deaths in the ocean a year...usually people who ignored safety regulations and climbed on the rocks during rough seas. We also have a couple of diving deaths a year. The point is our coastal area is about 90 miles long and we do not have anywhere near the casualties they have in Austin. I really feel for the people of Austin. You deserve better from your authorities.
I sent this to my children. The two girls had personal experience with close friends getting drugged at The W and both my Nephew and his sister got very sick after drinking just one drink also at the W. One of the daughters worked in the 6th street area and confirms that getting drugged at a bar was something all the locals who went often talked about. Edit: we lived in Austin from 03 till ‘18, with them moving away on ‘21 and the niece still lives there. My nephew passed 5 years ago and his getting blasted with only one drink was an obvious spiked drink since he could drink anyone under the table.
I have been drugged, twice. The guy that tells his story about the drugging.........and after the second "crime", I was put on disability. It has ruined my life. What is wrong with the police???!!!!! In New Jersey along the shore in the 90's, there were so many women being drugged that the police alerted all the cops along the shore to take the women into the ER's even if they thought they were drunk, take them in to be tested. They should be locked up for attempted murder. I hate them with a passion, those that do this, I'd have no remorse........none.
I used to live in Atlantic county. I remember in my early 20's there were a bunch of women found unalived as well. They chalked it up to I don't know what, but the women were said to be prostitutes. I don't think they ever found the killer.
I was drugged by a female that I met at a bar who invited me and a cousin of mine back to her house for drinks. Woke up to 2 people robbing my cousin and beating him up while he was semi-unconscious. I went into full fight mode, almost got stabbed. I’m thankful I walked away with just a blackeye. That was the last day I touched alcohol, I’ve been 7-8 years sober.
@@NotaGabeItch It's great that you're sober and best to stick to it, but you could have just stopped going to bars and drank at home in peace. Unless you felt like you had a serious problem with nonstop drinking, that is.
This is terrifying as a mom with a son who plans to go to UT. I’ve been trying to encourage him to go anywhere else but Austin. It’s not what it used to be. Or maybe I never was aware of this lurking danger. Heartbreaking for these families. Especially the most recent one not mentioned in this video. 💔
Tell him to go to A&M. It’s much saner there. The cadets in the Corps even run a service where if you call their number one of them will come out and escort you to wherever you need to go on campus at night. My female friends always used it when I was going there.
As a kid my mom warned me to never swim in town lake. It's the under tow. It's deadly, always has been. Do not swin in it. My mom was born here in the 40's. I've lived here since 71. Some are drunken people. Some are not. There absolutely people that prey on others. It's unfortunate all the way around.
It seems that the Owner(s) of the bars and their bar staff should be questioned severly, It is not natural for a bar that wants it's customers to come back and be safe to allow it's footage to be "overwritten' by the next day, usually a 30 day loop. They are complicit in their negligence so it seems that whatever means are used to get answers is ok.
I think it’s wild they don’t help with the investigation. I’d want the person(s) hurting my patrons to be arrested. I would not feel safe drinking at a place like that.
I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We are consistently ranked one of the top DRUNKEST states and the top DRUNKEST cities are on rivers and lakes. People DO NOT drink and just drown around here. There is definitely something wrong with APD being so dismissive of so many drownings🤯
@@thomasshafer315 Green Bay is surrounded by water and our main bar districts are right on the water. So whether it's cold or not, people around here are still going to drink and still be feet from the water.
That story sounds freakily like mine. It was 18 years ago and I still have no idea what happened that night, huge missing patches with flashbacks. I wasn’t even drinking alcohol because it was a works Christmas bowling party. Turns out I was spiked with GHB and never found out who did it. It’s annoying that I can’t remember, but maybe it’s for the best? 🤷🏻♀️ Stay safe out there everyone and happy new year ❤️ (I’m referring to the guy who survived to share his story, because apparently that wasn’t clear)
That’s TERRIFYING. I’ve heard of criminals that happen to be bartenders doing this. The only way to be super safe is to stick together with pals, I’m afraid. Just in case something like this happens, you have your crew around to look out for you. So glad nothing horrible happened to you. My ex-roomie and his cousin were drugged by the strippers at The Yellow Rose. That movie ‘Hustlers’ ain’t no joke, strippers do that to get bigger tips and have been doing it for a while. Be safe out there my friends.
happened to me as well in 2017. i believe it happened at container bar. never reported it, knew nothing would change. very scary to realize all the missing patches of memories and flashbacks later on.
My son was drugged some where near S. Congress and called me crying to pick him up. He didn't know where he was but we found him in Zilker Park... This happened a few weeks ago. He says he doesn't remember who he was partying with... I'm glad I was able to find him before dark... That was so scary. Even now when they announce another body found... I hold my breath. This is a terrible thing happening this city and I'm starting to think it's an inside job.
Nice victim blaming, yeah you need to watch your drink but if it's that big of an issue the police should be investigating, the bars need to hire more staff, or the police need to have a more noticeable presence in that area. There's no reason an issue that well known should be continuing unchecked. As far as the lake, personally I've never been but any other place that has had that many instances of death there would be cameras, better lighting, and a regular police patrol passing through periodically. You'd think Austin being a college town, a college that brings a lot of money to the city and state, they'd want to do all they could to ensure safety. Parents will stop sending students or students won't want to come. If there's one thing I've learned in my 8 years living here in texas it's money over everything. "God", safety, loyalty, friendship, and family included. The only other thing I've noticed that's as important as $$$ to these people is optics, how something appears or makes people/places look. so it's weird they're not more motivated but maybe it's the how it looks side of things outweighing the money.
@@Ali_D_Katt I don't expect you to understand if you don't live in downtown atx or youre not familiar with the neighborhood and the lake. It's complicated. Of course police are investigating.
As someone who lives by the lady bird and runs and walks there frequently I no longer go near dusk, or at all when it’s dark. There are little to no lights on the trail, no cameras, and the trail is usually in areas where there’s no other pedestrian or street traffic (plenty of areas for someone to hide). Stay safe out there Austin
That being said- this video also paints a really stark reality of the trail and lake, which is otherwise a really beautiful, fun and safe area to enjoy Austin from.
I'm local 20+ years and knew nothing of this mess. Thank you for the info, as I have children getting older. If you ever need foot errands for research in the Austin area, reach out, as I'm happy to be of help.
I live near Austin. I've heard about these deaths and I don't understand why police aren't doing anything. The access point into the lake near Rainey street isn't easy. There's a fence and brush. I don't think it's out of the ordinary to believe these deaths are connected. Why hasn't any surveillance been put up? It doesn't make sense. LP's story of being drugged in downtown Austin sounded very similar to something that happened to me. It was years ago but I'll never forget it.
How does a deceased person whose hands and feet were bound and head wrapped in duct tape get ruled as self inflicted?
Corruption. That's how.
That’s what I said.
Imagination.
we are being gaslit
Yet people take the police or authorities words like gospel too often, until it’s a loved one.

Unless it had been intended for one of them.
There's a nailpolish now that if it turns colors your drink has a drug women know n still don't care it's only $10
Henceforth why 'drinking' has never appealed to me, or bars. They aren't the greatest spots for meeting good people.

Legal reasons. Sadly.

Container bar is long gone now. Rainey st is becoming a bunch of apt complexes
I’ve seen too many Austin subreddit stories of someone getting their drink drugged on Rainey St. and then getting robbed
Could the serial killer be a bartender who hates men ? Most of victims are men from lady bird lake
That describes pretty much all US journalists now- either going along with corruption or lazy.
Austin is a Democratic city. They try to hide everything because they do not want to admit Conservatives are right.
They wanted the new move ins and rising home values for property taxes
They do that in SA

I was also drugged with ghb in downtown Austin (kung foo saloon) but my friend and i watched our drinks the ENTIRE TIME and felt horrible after 3 drinks. It was nothing like I’ve ever experienced before and hit close to home when that one guy explained his experience with ghb. I firmly believe it might have been a bartender
yeah they be doin that
I just read a comment, from a guy who worked at a bar in Austin. He said he watched the bartenders spike drinks. So I believe u💜
Not that I wouldn't believe u. IDK why I said it that way😅
One of the other comments from a bouncer at a bar in Austin said that there was a bartender that got caught spiking drinks. I don't think it was the bar he worked at
It was definitely the bartender same happened to us
One rather important point not mentioned in this piece is that if the cause of death is drowning, there WILL be water in the lungs.
Wasn't 1 Victim mentioned had Water in his Lungs?
Given all the questionable explanations given, I expect that the medical examiner could be in cahoots with those who are behind all the deaths.
I'm in Dallas too. It's like they're pulling bodies out of Trinity and Lake Lewisville ALL THE TIME.
@jacks6632 it's really not, but bodies get dumped there.

That’s Tx for ya.
NICE FRIENDS U HAD THAT LET YOU WONDER OFF DRUGGED
imagine killing hundreds of people and only the last 5 killings sparked ideas that the deaths might be related..
I think, if there is a serial killer, he is definitely someone who works with the police department because it doesn’t make sense that they wouldn’t take an allegation of a possible serial killer in their town seriously enough.
Or they're terrified of the serial killer (s) ..
At least one has been caught…
Could be part of the investigation Maybe they are scared he will disappear to another state
Exactly, makes sense
“A fall in the water “?! No way could someone sustain those types of injuries all at once from falling into water! Has it been the same doctor determining the cause of death with all of these people? Why hasn’t a major investigation been done, and why isn’t anyone getting second autopsies done on these victims?
Wasn't that utterly ridiculous? I mean, please. 🙄

The guy who recounted his story:
I had that exact same thing happen to me.

@@mycatsnameiskaren8253 I know it! Scary times.
awful , wth. this is terrifying .

Man, it's shocking to me that there is all this stuff going on and outside of the towns nobody ever hears about it.

I live in Seattle.
There are several lakes (including the huge Lake Washington).
Then (of course) there's the Peget Sound.
The city is literally surrounded by water.
And yet,
there are nowhere near the number of deaths from drowning in Seattle as there are in Austin.
Or harvesters
Could you give more detail please? Im also suspecting something far darker.@ladylove360
Depends on the drug used. Some last multiple days and have a high binding affinity.
sounds like a fun evening out

I used roofies when i was a junky. You don't bathe in your own sweat as a result of using it. Not even when mingled with alcohol. If it were roofies, more people would die bc it's very deadly in combination with strong liqor. I am thinking something far stronger and the sweating is result of poison.. I had quite a few alcohol poisonings in my day and it makes you sweat buckets. These people didn't have enought to experience alcohol poisoning but in combintation with that drug... it seemingly results in constant sweating.

There are way better schools than UT.
Tell him to go to A&M. It’s much saner there. The cadets in the Corps even run a service where if you call their number one of them will come out and escort you to wherever you need to go on campus at night. My female friends always used it when I was going there.
UT is still a great school don't stop him from losing out on a great career, just stay away from Rainey and he'll be fine
Thank you for making this, I hope it continues to bring attention to these tragedies!! These families deserve answers!!
It is normal. For liability and quality
I think it’s wild they don’t help with the investigation. I’d want the person(s) hurting my patrons to be arrested. I would not feel safe drinking at a place like that.
Go into the bar with a test kit.
Archiving possible evidence is not the establishment's legal responsibility - it's a licensed bar... Selling alcohol... To adults...
@@MotoCouple-wtf 😂
Why hasn’t the APD been investigated by the state police and FBI? Have the families consider hiring a private investigstor?
I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We are consistently ranked one of the top DRUNKEST states and the top DRUNKEST cities are on rivers and lakes. People DO NOT drink and just drown around here. There is definitely something wrong with APD being so dismissive of so many drownings🤯
Also freezing in Green Bay nobody would go near the water it's beautiful weather in Austin Texas they probably are more inclined to go swimming
@@thomasshafer315 Green Bay is surrounded by water and our main bar districts are right on the water. So whether it's cold or not, people around here are still going to drink and still be feet from the water.
Woah this was so eye opening and shocking! Too many occurrences to be left as “accidental” in my opinion. Heartbreaking for the families
🤷🏻♀️ Stay safe out there everyone and happy new year ❤️
(I’m referring to the guy who survived to share his story, because apparently that wasn’t clear)
Especially to married men , most will not report
happened to me as well in 2017. i believe it happened at container bar. never reported it, knew nothing would change. very scary to realize all the missing patches of memories and flashbacks later on.
Happened to me too in Chicago 2013 or 12? Scary af I couldn’t stop puking and couldn’t see but luckily I made it home 🫶
@@TOOMUCHSAUCE91I bet you're the type that doses people.
KeK people just love to assume everybody is kind and loving.
I'm a local. Drinks are getting spiked. It's a known risk here. People need to pay attention. I don't even go downtown anymore because of this stuff.
disturbing beyond belief. a few undercover stints would find out who is behind it easily. why are police doing nothing??!!
@@RGATX so it's still safe to go to the bars and Rainey st ?🍸😂
Go out there at night with a flashlight and you'll see a bunch of men with their pants down.
I wouldn't go anywhere near there if I were you, you might find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time
Go with friends and use the buddy system. There's a reason women go to the bathroom in packs. Never go off alone, never let your friends go off alone.
I'm local 20+ years and knew nothing of this mess. Thank you for the info, as I have children getting older. If you ever need foot errands for research in the Austin area, reach out, as I'm happy to be of help.
Another body was pulled from the lake just yesterday! I hope and pray the FBI gets involved.
The police are too busy hassling young people & dark people to worry about serious crime.
Good morning my name is suhayla is this the first time I ever heard about this my opinion someone has to know something
Many have been drugged especially when there's lots of folks near Lady in the groups and crowds of 20-30s
When was your experience?¡!
Maybe they letting public believe they don’t think they are connected, since they don’t have enough evidence. And truly know they are connected
Lived here my entire life and this has been on my mind lately. Thanks for shedding light on this! 👏🏼
sounds like a fantasy that you have been thinking about lately.
@@validpoint9854Anyone who lives in Austin, Texas, especially men, SHOULD be aware, concerned and very careful! 💔🙏😢
