  • Rangers sign oscar cortes on loan with a obligation to buy!
In todays video we are here to react to the news that rangers have resigned oscar corest on loan from lens with a obligation to buy at the end of next season with oscar cortes signing a 4 year contract that will expire in the 2029 season making him a rangers player! we react to the deal and why the comparisons with malik tillman doenst make sense whilst discussing the player himself and why i feel we were truly robbed of his ability during the title run in as he along with a few others were badly missed, a season to impress and show hes worth the 4 million euros that its rumoured to cost, this is our reaction to oscar cortest signing for rangers..whats yours?

Agree 100% CJ. Those who think he's too injury prone seem to forget that this is the first injury the young lad (6 months younger than Ross McAusland) has had in his career. He has a really bright future in football imo, and hopefully can make a big contribution to Rangers over the next few seasons.

For me he absolutely showed enough quality to be signed. A really good player, who was unlucky. This loan protects us, to make sure he is robust enough. It seems those who now run this department, are smarter than the last lot and the penny has dropped. The penny dropping being, you get less injury plagued players if you stay away from or protect the club against possible injury prone types. Very pleasing business.

On the signing I think it’s a great deal, we played some of our best football when he came into the team. I think the loan for another season is a best way to do it as we obv don’t have a lot of funds this season and hopefully next season we’ll be champions so have more spare cash. Cortes has mostly played on the right in his career, but I’ve looked at old footage of him and he plays both which I think is great for the manager! I’ve got a feeling we’ll keep Sima too but further in the window, I wonder if we are going left to right in terms of sorting things. I’d really like that Gadalmes boy as well- talk about playing for the badge anyone seen that clip of Gadalmes tackling someone that’s just about to kick the ball with his heed, honestly it’s brilliant. 😂 Most players would be worried about their teeth! And I’d play him at left CB as it’s his favourite position. Seen ppl say he’s no big enough. Why do we need big slow bulky guys at CB? This boy takes the ball out of defence and goes for a run big boogie style. Plus he’s really athletic, jumps really highly, passes really well plus he’s a nutter. Give us a danger on the counter all the way back from defence, different dimensions. No the same old $hite.

He had no prior record of injury either, but still smart and hopefully a sign of things to come by the club in being cautious and extending the loan, so we can find out how robust he is. Between Cortes and Jefte, on the left our attacks will really strong next season from the left. If we can do that at RB, RW, add a couple of new Cbs, a new 10 like Niko Jankovic and striker to increase our firepower, we will be ready to hopefully make a real challenge. I think it's the right thing to do as he sustained an unfortunate injury playing on the plastic pitch at Kilmarnock. a one year loan deal will enable Rangers to assess him over a full season then hopefully sign him on a four year deal . He was impressive over the seven appearances he made last season and I am looking forward to seeing him on a regular basis next season .

  • @slemsman2002

Is this an obligation to buy or an option to buy? If it's an obligation as you have in the intro and when comparing to Malik Tillman CJ, then we have signed a player that played 7 games for us last season for €4m. In fact, if it's an obligation, he can play 0 games in the coming season, and we'll have to sign him for €4m. The only difference is that it won't hit the accounts until next season so it should leave money free to sign other players this year. But just as much upside as downside to the mechanics of the transfer - the smart thing to do in these circumstances, where possible, would be an option to buy at a set fee as then we can sign the player if the loan works out or send him back if it doesn't.

I’d argue our transfers in the past year to year and a half have been decent, it’s the guys that were here before them that were/are the issue.
Sterling, Butland, Sima, Dessers, Cantwell, Raskin, Diomande etc have all done well since they came in. It’s the likes of Goldson, Tav, Lundstram, Borna, Roofe etc (and a lack of wingers/fit players) that have been holding us back.

I am baffled as to why any Bear would be unhappy at this signing/resigning?
I said after his second game "this lad has a winning mentality" and dear God, we so need not like him.
The fact he is working at RANGERS and not his "parent" club, to get fit for next season speaks volumes about the lad.
The very least we should be willing to do is give him a chance.
As for the contract of season long loan with obligation to buy, well for me that makes great business sense. It means it frees up money for other players that we DESPERATELY need to bring in.

Dont mind him coming back for another year loan but the obligation to buy is slightly concerning.

Sima and Shankland signed up next would be good then I don't care who the other unknowns will be , as they along with Cortes are obvious positive additions , try before you buy is sensible considering our past aslong as the fee has been established with no change , which after the Tillman saga I assume a first day lawyer would have within the contract

This isn’t a try before you buy. We must buy whether Cortes is the same player after the injury or completely different. As for Sima, really? He has missed 60 games over three seasons with three different clubs. If you want rid of roofe because of being a walking sicknote why walk into the sima transfer (another walking sicknote)Let’s wake up and not make the same mistakes as yesteryear.

A quite brilliant move by us to try again before we buy wee Cortes. For me I'd put him on strengthening excercises tbh, isometrics perhaps or similar. He has the skills he has the pace just needs more strenght to be able to stand-up to the shit thug-tackling types whom we have Many of in this league. Cracking wee vid cjnovo.

Good news 👏 sima next please 🙏 pace power athletic nxt season…will be explosive if we get that out and out number 9
hope I’m right in saying this big Phil hopefully building his team a team that will pull and pin teams in all over the park. the quicker we win the ball back lighting quick on the offensive side
could see signs of this we fell short and didn’t have the depth to carry it out. CJ too many times we needed our biggest players to stand up in the big games and they were either injured or some played out of position due to shortage of depth. some not good enough. early signs good the board backing the manager 👏
