My Dad and I both work for the railroad here in Boston and always enjoy your videos of Train Simulator. Please keep the videos coming, and see you in American Truck Simulator.
You have never pay enough attention to what you really should look at, Squirrel, speed limits, incoming events, where you should stop... you always stick your eyes to your train, to the scenario, to whatever that is not so important about your mission.
Hi Squirrel, nice videos. I am a bit of a novice at this game as well, but I play periodically. When you are in the map mode, use the large white buttons, especially while doing a freight job. There is one that will zoom to your current task, and another that will zoom to your train, I believe they are lifesavers. Keep up the good work!!
Sometimes I find myself screaming at this screen, telling you to stop looking around and pay attention!!!! Lol drives me crazy with your attention span, but very entertaining
Not sure if anyone has pointed it out. Don't wanna go through ALL the posts. Anyway, the cars with the "funny hats" you saw towards the beginning were caboose cars. They were used at the end of trains a while back for the engineers to get a signal from the man riding back there telling them the end of the train had passed whatever thing they needed to be concerned about. It has been replaced by electronics now.
The -44 points you lost on the last drop off was because you got the ENGINES to the red arrow. You needed to pull the carriages back to the safe distance point. If you had just pulled those 4 a tad bit further, you would have had it. :)
skendel No sir Caboose's Had To keep Men To get on Top on the Train To turn on the breaks
skendel and it was also used for a fireman look at the steam engine to make sure if it catches on fire, he can deal with it.

Also, brilliant though Squirrel is, I think most people would rather watch half an hour at a time, rather than a full hour of game play.
Don't blame the game for you not understanding that "drop off" means "uncouple the cars"... ;)
You can use the dynamic brakes and locomotive brake to slow the locomotives down when you do not have cars attached. Also to be correct in the US you start the bell and blow the horn long twice before moving the train. On a crossing approach its start the bell and blow two long one short and one long through the crossing.

Those `bunks` are called a copula. A conductor sits in a chair looking over the train, looking for any problems at or around the train. Conductors can communicate using hand signals to the drivers there and under the chairs in the cupola are the beds. Look on Google Images for inside a caboose.
trying so hard not to lafugh out so hard in the libary didnt work out too well made my day squirrel
The regular brake handle has four positions usually; emergency, off, lap and applied. To drag the brakes downhill for example, apply the brakes for a few seconds to let the pressure drop in the line a few pounds to maintain speed, then move the handle to "lap" to maintain that pressure.
The locomotive or independent brake is mechanical and built into just the locomotive. It's like a parking brake. Protip: before setting off on mild uphill grades, set the independent brakes and release the pneumatic brakes. The carriages will stretch out and you can set off without fear of damaging the couplers.
Squirrel, I doubt you're going to read this comment but i thought I'd say it anyway - When you're braking in the Locomotive, try using the other brakes instead of always using the Locomotive's Service brakes, or when its time to slow down turn the Locomotive into the reverse of the current direction you're going and power up, you'll bleed off that speed alot quicker if you do that. It's also another method of Dynamic Braking, which is better for the loco then using nothing but the service brakes
That's what I was going to recommend. Just be careful not to over do it or you'll go shooting off in the other direction.
USE YOUR BELL! i do understand that you dont live in north america and i do understand that the trains where you live dont use bells (correct me if im wrong) but in NorthAmerica, locomotives that stay in the yard shunting use their bell when they do work like you did in this video...but it was still a good video and i do hope you continue to make more.
"The Champion" has ha few tricks up the sleeve. You drive a HUGE train and there are a few sudden (sort of) speed changes to watch out for. Not quite as easy with the inertia of the very heavy train.
My god, I'm glad you can't hear me screaming at my PC :)... "Where is west 21? These names are obstructing it...".... CLUE: Big Blue Arrow marked WEST 21 :)
Love the vids, but frustrating at times :) Looking forward to the next!
well done in writing off them carriages Paul haha. Great video :)
Do the scenario "Danger from above" with the Bulleid Q1 addon, it's tons of fun!
When the brake is applied, you are lowering the pressure in the brake cylinders by bleeding air. To release the brakes you must pressurize the line. This way, the brakes will be applied in the event of a runaway carriage, or damage to the brake system.
You know when you've hit a stop-point correctly because the red timer-bar fills up quicker.
If you move, even by accident, whilst the timer-bar is filling it restarts itself when you stop again - providing you're still in the right spot . . .
Coolest route in the game.. Especially with the NS trains..
You really should use the reverse more on a train as powerful as this. The brakes are weak, but the engine going in reverse makes up for it.
I love Paul :) lol - And a note to people there will be Squirrel re branded trains coming out soon!
I have been over in the shunting yard here in Chattanooga and the drivers and engineers do have to deal with some of the switching in the yard. Feel sorry for the engineers sometimes. Especially with long trains. Having to walk down the length once the train is switched onto its next line.
when you had the train over the arrow it wasn't the freight cars it was your train, you needed it to be the freight cars were over the arrow, that's the reason your accuracy had a penalty
awesome video as always, think i have watched all your videos.
Newer brake systems have lap which works the same but they also have progressive brake settings or even motor braking. Depends on the loco.
HI SQUIRREL i hav been watching your gaming videos recently u are the best when it comes to TS2014 how do u do it Great to have your videos inspire people to buy games well done mate
Squirrel... just a tip.
When coupling to other cars, you should be going about 2 mph, not 5.
You have to reverse the throttle settings on the F7 to break since the actual tractor unit doesn't have useful breaks.
Ah another good watch. ServiusTheBear
Couldnt wait for this video!!
Even if you didn't beat it the first time around, you can go back and replay it. No fret.
i believe that GP7 is now on display as a monument on top of the curve, ive seen it in person b4 cool train
Great video, man. Keep it up.
I found a problem, but there is a workaround
Career Mode - Storming into Munich
Error - Scenario failed to load
Press F2 to save - Cancel the save
It then starts, and you can play it
Quite a number of people have reported this on the steam forums
Give that man a cookie!
Keep up that speeding and the Curve is going to wreck your train lol
You should consider playing the Surfliner DLC, I recently bought it and it is quite good
It was so funny when you crashed you should do that more often
I like your Train sim videos
this was one of the biggest pains in the butt ive had with this game...other than the switches switching on themselves or not working right. this scenario......i believe, was replayed 15 times before i actually finished it. most of the time, i ended up getting right at the last set and i end up ramming into them. glad to see someone else had the same problems i was having. and i to wondered how you can pick up so much speed but when you throw on the brakes, it takes forever.....
I like the train lets play. Keep it up. :)
Horseshoe reminds me about that song Horseshoes and Handgrenades by Green Day!
The wagons with hats are called a caboose. It's America equivalent of a guard van
Yay! New part!!
lol I woke up my roommate screaming "E BRAKE! E BRAKE!" at 2:33
great vid thanks Squirrel
Throw it in Reverse when its just a loco or cab unit, it will come to a stop so much quicker than relying on the crappy air brakes.
Oh, and your loco weight - F7A+F7B+F7A - equals @ 306 Tons (Imperial) alone . . . never mind the weight of whatever it is you're hauling.
For Halloween you should try the Trains vs Zombies 2 add on.
Those cares at roughly 20:10 was called a Caboose it was the car the Conductor and break man used to ride in before the invention of air breaks it was also yes a crew bunk car
***** No just No
***** STOP just freaking STOP Railroading history is nothing to make jokes about
Kirt Gartner The caboose was used until the mid to late 80's when the EOTD (End Of Train Device) was put into service, not air brakes. Air Brakes were invented by Westinghouse in the 1800's.
Bunk cars were and are still used on MOW (maintenance Of Way) trains mainly those on long jobs like laying new track.
ElfNet Gaming Thanks :D I am man enough to admit when im wrong but The Caboose was also a used as Sleeping quarters for the crew still thank you for correcting me on the Airbreak thing
No problem, I kinda grew up around railroading..
enjoyed squirrell well done n thanks
Can you please play more Arma mods like when you first started. A little variation instead of only trucking games will get you the desired fan base.
Keep it up bro!
i agree. i was screaming "DECOUPLE!"
Likeing this videos! Can you maybe try out some kinda of obsucure indie ish simulators? Maybe on a livestream?
:) love this series!!!
Please can you do from Leeds to York calling at crossgates , GARFORTH ,East GARFORTH ,MICKLEFIELD , CHUCHFENTHER AND YORK THANK YOU
Hello Squirrel. I am interesting in taping a few of my own Train Simulator rides, but I am flummoxed by my lack of knowledge. That being said how do I go about taping one of my rides from within the game? Your help would be appreciated and thanks again.
Does that radio in da background come with the diesel? or is it railroadradio, net?
Im sure he has a good upload speed.
Lol, near the burning building a guy is standing next to it and just checks his watch
The things with 'hats' are cabooses, for the end of trains
hi squirrel I will watch this later much too my supprise on Thursday 17th dlc was out of la (man) too San diagio its great but with my boxed copy I got Maria pass god its lovley steep incline ( very ) n cross a very steep 1st bridge over a freeway scarey n buetifull have a good weekend everyone enjoy train sim n other games
Paul why don't you upload 60 minute videos? i have noticed you put them in parts? any perticular reason for this?
The cars with "hats on them" were just cabooses.
Make sure you were using the loco/train brake, and not dynamic brake. The dynamic brake doesn't work (much) at low speeds.
You are the best
If you can't stop fast enough then if your going backwards put it in forward with throttle
That's awesome
Almost end of the shift my arss :)
9:27 really big station
I'm sure by the time you finished, the building would have burned down.
Are you gonna finish the series?
you picked up speed so quickly because the F7 was designed for fast freight and passenger service.
Two 30 minute videos makes twice the revenue of 1 60 minute. ;)
those cars where used as a sleeping area for drivers
i just got train simulator 2014 today squirrel but its going to take like 4 hours to download on my computer
donald williams
That means you got a worthless computer.
Gh vvl
+USA.FarmCop Yes, cabooses. I suppose the UK is so small they have no use for them. They can round the island in the time it takes to finish a soccer match. ;)
Shots fired
Try to use the dynamic brake.
You should make a live stream of train simulator 2013
$60 dollars for the BigBoy train pack,$30 for a SD70,$25 for this,$40 for that,ETC......... can YOU say SCAM!!
Cool
can you do more ftb
Passanger trains!
lol the brakes are off a bicycle
hay squrriel tomtomtom222 here i just wanted to ask if you can TRY farming simulator 2013
Is this on mac
Why u not uploading?
yeah, everybody down here are soooo smart! :D
i brok my pc waching this
Awww thats a shame....Not!
ha gg dude gg
i couldnt see the graphics, they were too transparent
I'm assuming you are not a train driver.
Putting the locomotive in reverse and powering up while goign forward is not a good idea. It's not another form of dynamic brake.
you sound like Jimmy Carr
"johns-town" :)
i already asked that...hope he tries it out...:D
Sorry. Time is 20:05
from where to download this game.if demo then also good.but plz tell anybody where do we get this game.i damn love this game
+Arvind Mahajan its on steam
+William Ingraham is it free?
+Arvind Mahajan no
+William Ingraham not even demo?
the cars need to be behind those safe points , not your engine
trains can't stop like a car
they stop 1 mile long so watch your speed
