    This is an extended painting demonstration that will illustrate my process in a simple progression that you can apply to your paintings. I hope you enjoy it and try these tips out for yourself.

    You are the best.The way you hold the brush, your hand not covering the painting,while you keep talking,the speed your painting is advancing,your voice,than at every step telling the mixing you are using. You are excellent.I learned a lot.Thank you!

    Thanks once again Malcolm! So lovely! I really appreciate the way you explain all along while painting. You really are an excellent teacher. There is, however, one thing that you do not say, and that is, that one also need courage to paint as loosely as you do. Personally, for example, I still struggle not to be "afraid" to "just put down the colors and leave them" with the result that I tend to overwork and thus spoiling my paintings. Thanks again. I am sure you will get through to me somehow one day.

    Malcolm, you are such a find for my journey and rediscover of painting after many decades. The breakdown of using color and shapes and the relaxed, natural presentation style is superb. One of my issues is that when I try to follow a model or reference, it all ends up too loose.

      You can do it! I do wipe the brush off with tissue or cloth every couple of strokes. Have a look at last week's video for more info on that - - the one about non-toxic medium. I do edit out these pauses in a recording to save viewers time.

    Thank you for your very helpful videos on oil painting, Malcolm.
    But I still have a big problem: What is the best way to store oil paintings while the layers are drying? Unlike acrylic paintings, after all, they stick and are not protected from dust deposits...

    • @MalcolmDewey
      @MalcolmDewey  2 года назад +2

      Thank you. Yes I have had the same struggle for years. The best solution is to place the paintings in racks in a cupboard to dry behind closed doors. A high shelf above a window for example can work too. any place out of the wind where dust etc blows around.

    • @bernhardvoigt7751

      @@MalcolmDewey Thank you very much. It's really the biggest background reason for me to paint with acrylic paint instead of oil paint. I simply lack the space for storage during drying...
