It’s made to look like the sporting rifle, but it has the carbine/musket style stock and butt plate… should have the crescent style butt…
Other than that and the safety, it’s a nice looking little rifle.
Good lookin' long gun!!
I love the “Winchester look”!
You should, since it's a Rossi M92, direct copy of the Winchester Model 92...
A look that lasts forever 😉
@@ninjackson1 Agree! I’m a happy owner of a 9410 Ranger, made in New Haven, USA!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Heritage is apparently making this in 454 casull. They got my attention with this one for sure.
Heritage isn't making these rifles. they are made in Brazil under the same name as Rossi. The companies repair service is horrible. But go ahead you do you. I will hope you get a good one.
I like those Skinner peep sights that replace the rossi safety lever. Nice looking rifle!
It's still a Rossi the reason it has the metal end cap is because it's a rifle not a carbine
It’s made to look like the sporting rifle, but it has the carbine/musket style stock and butt plate… should have the crescent style butt.
So Heritage is manufactured by Rossi based on your comment??
@@georgesolis603 Yes, the lever action is anyway.
@@georgesolis603 Yes, Heritage doesn't make anything by themselves. This is a rebadged Rossi M92, just like the Heritage Roscoe revolver is just a rebadged Taurus Model 85.
Forends on Winchester "rifles" (barrels longer than 20", I believe) always had the metal cap on the end. Carbines had a shorter forend, and are held on by a barrel band.
Winchester short rifles have the cap also. Carbine designation has the band.
Great to see heritage expanding. I love their revolver and I really want the revolving .22 rifle.
I wish heritage would make a 22 Scofield or a trap door springfield in 22 lr
Picturing the 45-70 trap door action open to reveal gods smollest cartridge is giving me quite the chuckle
@atrocitusofryutt8410 it would be fun and affordable, though!
@@atrocitusofryutt8410 or just an itty bitty rifle like the mini mosin lol
A Schofield-based one would actually be quite cool.
What I was thinking @@Just1American1966
I'm pretty sure you can have a gunsmith replace the safety with a ghost ring
Don’t need a gunsmith .. I did mine in about 20 minutes. Stevesgunz sells a little kit with everything you need
I think the ghost rings look worse than the safety on these.
@@WinnebagoBrewingCo For me it was about function. I can get on target much faster with a big aperture than the rear sight it came with.
The Rossi R92 rifle has the correct crescent buttplate
Rossi is producing the rifles according to Heritage spokes lady I spoke with. All model 92s she said will be branded as Heritage in the future.
I think the finished bluing on the Taurus Deputy is done in US.
Taurus is expanding all of their production facilities in Bainbridge, Georgia.
They will still be crap. Ive owned to many to mention and only have one that functions well. With that there customer service sucks
If made in Georgia, they won't need that silly import safety..!!
@tbcoachniblick1208 currently still made in Brazil, plans are for all 92s to be made in Georgia, maybe they'll get rid of that safety
Great review. I always learn something new from your videos. Thanks for posting
My Rossi M92 has the metal fore end cap too. Rifle have caps, carbines have bands. BTW these are obviously rebadged Rossi guns similar to Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable
I’m sure it is. They’re the same company now so I’m sure the lever actions are all made in the same place.
As are the Roscoe revolvers, simply rebadged Taurus Model 85s...
Great wanted poster in the background.
Thanks!
I think I've seen that guy!
Great video. I noticed it has a carbine butt plate on it. I wonder why they didn't put the saddle ring on it like the original Winchesters. 45 Colt will be a lot easier to obtain than 44WCF, 32WCF, or 25WCF like the original Winchesters. You didn't mention price which might have come in handy.
Finally!!! I found somone with the spine to say where this rife was made (seriously, I looked at numerous internet articles where the writer never said the COO). So basically it's rebadged Rossi R92.
That's a fine looking rifle. I'm a big fan of a metal endcap on the forestock. It's nice to see companies getting better about hiding the markings and things like the safety. That price tag is a bit steep. But most dealers will probably put it lower. I look forward to you taking that beautiful weapon to the range
I have a R92 rd. barrel 20" Rossi carbine in .38/.357. Sweet shooter.
Beautiful copy! 👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Sweet lever gun . Have 3 Heritage rough riders 357 an 22 lr 22 magnum love them a lot Rossi ss 357 and blued 22 I love them both like the Rossi better than my Henry 44 that I had. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
Braztech?
👍 For the Rossi R92 Steve’s Gunz sells an aperture sight that will replace the safety and a dove tail slot blank to fill the gap when removing factory rear sight. Not sure if these will fit the Heritage rifle, but they look similar.
Sent email to Steve
@@RedProg I replaced the safety on my Rossi R92 with this aperture sight. I have purchased a few other aftermarket accessories from Steve. I could not be more pleased, quality stuff at reasonable prices with quick delivery. I hope you are as pleased as I have been.
@@ROE1300I appreciate you providing the info
Dustin, Beautiful looking Lever Action. Let's see how it shoot. I never had a problem with Heritage. You and your family have a beautiful and blessed weekend. Happy Father's Day. LORD GOD Bless and stay vigilant.
Im glad he checked chamber after removing from box. I sold firearms for years, Colorado and even in Tombstone. Twice, I found a cartridge in the chamber. Don't know if it was from the factory, or some employee at the distributor, playing games. Always look...
Very nice looking rifle. Looking forward to you taking it out on the range. Many thanks.
Hey that's a nice rifle ! I'm a Heritage fan. Great affordable firearms.
I LIKE IT!!!!! How about a carbine version next???
Beautiful rifle. Thanks for taking the time to do such a detailed video, love the octagon barrel. Can't wait to see you fire it.
At $1000, I will wait for a used Henry
Same gun as the Rossi. My 24" .357 Rossi has the metal forestock cap.
What a nice looking rifle! I've got a R92 20" round bbl 44 Mag. It's such a neat little rifle/carbine. Looking forward to more on this rifle, thanks for sharing!
THAT IS ONE BEAUTIFUL RIFLE WOW!
If you get a Rossi in the 24-inch octagon barrel it has the cap on the end of the forearm too and the buttstock is rounded with a crescent butt plate not the Square top
Just looked up the prices! I'd rather have a HENRY! IN FACT! LOVE THE COUPLE I HAVE ALREADY! THANKS!
Actually a Good video of the product!
Great Review. Cool Item 😎
Fine looking lever gun. Thank you
It has a carbine butt stock and a rifle barrel and forend, that was never made by Winchester to my knowledge.
I like this rifle excellent bluing and stock! I have a few heritage arms.i have a 45 LC pistol 1875 Army Outlaw.David Back.
Another great video. Thanks
If the finish on that rifle is anything like the finish on the new Taurus six gun, it has to be beautiful
Unnecessary safety aside heritage guns don't seem bad. As long as they are priced right.
It's not even a Heritage gun, just a rebranded Rossi.
The New Red dead redemption looks lit tho
I have the Taurus Rossi 92 in .357 Magnum/.38 Special.
Are these being produced by Rossi for Heritage?
I like it.
I have a heritage rough rider 22 i got beck in 95, i didnt care for the safety either ,but i decided its handy for dry fire practice. No worries about damaging the firing pin
Can you shoot 45 Schofield in this? What is the MSRP?
That is a fairly good looking gun, not fond of the straight grain stock but it’s still good looking. And my old Marlin 30/30 gold trigger had a manual safety, but it was located down by the trigger where it should be. That one is just not in a very ergonomic position.
Maybe taurus could bring back their copy of the colt lightning pump action rifle.
Nice review of a nice gun. Curious if you could fire a heavy 45 round like a Buffalo Bore Outdoorsman?
The 1892s have one of the strongest actions of any lever gun. Max “ruger only” loads will be no problem and some people have claimed they can withstand a continuous diet of up to 50k psi which is much more than ruger only loads go up to
This begs the question WHY. They already sell the Rossi 92
Maybe a marketing trick for people who might not realize it’s the same thing.
I think you're right. It's also why Taurus brought their discontinued Model 85 revolver out of retirement to sell as the "new" Heritage Roscoe.
Every time I see a recent or current production '92 "clone" in .45 Colt's I kick myself for not buying at least one of the Rossi '92 clones I ran up on in a Copperas Cove, TX gun store back in 1986 while I was stationed at Ft. Hood. They had beautiful wood, and the bluing was superb. All of them were chambered in the historically correct .44-40 and the store was well stocked with Winchester ammo in that caliber. Price per rifle at the time? $350.00+tax at that particular store.
That's about $1000 I today's money
That seems extremely expensive for 1986. I think I remember my dad saying that’s what pythons were going for back then
I remember my S&W 686 cost around $370 back then, a Trooper was a bit more, and a python was up over $500
My friend was stationed at Fort Hood in the 9o's and he bought a Python for 450 at Brocks gun shop in Copperas Cove. I bought a Rossi 92 .45 Colt 20'' for 225 new at a gunshow at that time also. Still have it. I polished the action myself and cut down the ejector spring a tick too much, but still ejects fine. Hadn't shot it in years.
@@Almost_Made_It Pythons have always been a good bit out of my price range, even well-maintained used ones. I will, say this though, over the last fifty or so years I've seen many a firearm and their prices vary a lot from store to store in the same town or community. I once (around 1988 if memory serves) purchased a like new Colt's Detective Special at what was then my favorite gun store for under $150.00+tax out the door only to see, a couple of weeks later, an equally nice DS at a store only a few miles away for nearly double the price of the revolver I had purchased. Since the store I found those .44-40s at was the closest to where I lived, I was guilty more often than not, of not "price shopping" for better deals. At that particular moment I had cash money and could have afforded one or two of those rifles and maybe even a case of ammo, but I purchased something else that was so unremarkable that all I remember about it is that it was bolt action in .30-06 and that it made for excellent trading material several years later.
I have had no problems with my Henry. After 1000’s of rounds it still functions like new. I paid $99.00 for it brand new, that is how old it is.
I really love watching your videos. I have a Rossi I use for competition. The only draw back is you can’t get them with an octagon barrel. I’m definitely going to check one out. Do you know where they will be selling them if they have been released yet? Again great job on the videos man. Your great.
I have a Rossi 92 with a 20" octagonal barrel in 45 Colt. I've had it for 10 years or longer, so they were available at one time. I also have one in 44 mag with a 24" barrel. Their offerings have changed over the years.
ive heard it said both ways about brazilian quality some bad but honestly ive heard more good than bad so ill probably pick one one up at a later date
How does she shoot?
So sad to see it is not drilled and tapped for a rear tang sights like the Rossi 92s are. Then again i haven't seen a new Rossi 92 in person yet, so the new ones might not be at all either. Which really would be a shame.
What's the price?!?
It is a Rossi rebranded
Is it legal in Illinois?
Do these come in .30-30?
Wrong action for .30-30 - WInchester Model 92s are revolver cartridge leverguns.
Not a fan of the safety either but otherwise looks good
Free ammo! Dang it, it’s empty…
I have 16 inch barrel Rossi. I'm sure that long gun is really accurate
I know manual safeties aren't popular on lever guns, but that one looks well thought out and discreet. I like that it looks like I could see the red while aiming. Always annoying to have to look at the trigger guard to see if a firearm is safe or not.
What you describe is the exact opposite of “discrete”.
Adj: unobtrusive, unnoticeable
@@Almost_Made_It "Discrete" definition:. adjective
individually separate and distinct.
Did you mispell well ackshully?
And I'm happy you think other safeties are more discreet. I disagree.
@@WhatIfBrigade your reply is way more “well akktually” than mine. I was just saying that visibly seeing something while you are aiming is not DISCREET so it was strange that you would describe it as such. Also these safeties are pretty much regarded as the least DISCREET safeties on any lever gun and I don’t know many people who don’t hate the look or placement of them. You’re a special one though I guess.
@@Almost_Made_It Again, I'm happy you think so. Just remember to spell it correctly when you criticize someone and quote the definition.
@@WhatIfBrigade will do, chief.
The Rossi octagonal rifle has the same forearm
Did I read right, priced around one thousand bucks ?
I have the Rossi 92 in .357
It is stainless carbine
I paid $750.00
That was about two years ago
Piękna strzelba. Najlepszego! 👍👍👍😊
Not many of my Heritage guns are reliable to function.I won't buy another one.Sent it back to get repaired 3 times.Still won't operate correctly.
Ughhh, the embossed logos on each side of the stock ruins it for me. More so that the manual safety. They're way too deep to sand off and refinish as well.
Do they make one in 357. ?
They do. Here’s their whole collection: heritagemfg.com/lever-action/lever-action-series
I was wondering, have you or anyone that subscribes had experience with a 24 inch barrel 336?
It has a carbine butt stock on it. Should have the cresent on it. Oh well, nice looking rifle!
Jeeez that IS DEEP BLUE🧐🧐🤯😮😅
I like the safety for hunting. I can safely climb into my tree stand and it doesn't make a noise when I take it off.
Looks like a rebranded Rossi.
for a Heritage it is a bit steep in price. to me heritage guns are inexpensive and fun. no doubt this will be fun but not inexpensive.
There is no reason to add the safety, Rossi does because of import laws. I'm sure they are made in the same place as Rossi. I don't like the Heritage symbol on the stock.
It’s a short rifle, but it has a carbine butt stock
My mistake it is a rifle with a 24” barrel
I’ll stick with my original Model ‘92 Winchester sporting rifle…
This one is made to look like the sporting rifle, but it has the carbine/musket style stock and butt plate… should have the crescent style butt. Also, having a safety on any firearm with a half cock is ridiculous!
Help Mr. Dustin, I was cleaning the Black Powder Rifle and the Hammer slipped on the nipple without a cap. --Tony
Did the nipple get damaged? If so, the nipple can be replaced. If not, I wouldn’t worry about it.
@@GunsOfTheWest
Thank you, no it didn't, I put another cap on it and it did what it was supposed to do.
@@GunsOfTheWest
I'm going to take it out again, this weekend, but I think this is going to be my pretty one, that sits on the wall mostly.
I have a Winchester Model 92, manufactured in October 1891. My dad rechambered it from .45-70 to .44 mag back in 1960. He also rechambered a second rifle from .32-20 to .357 mag. Both guns have taken whitetails. We also swapped the big hoop levers for the standard levers.
Hogwash. Winchester NEVER made a Model 92 in .45-70. That action is too small and too weak for the big (nearly 3" long) round! .44-40 was the largest chambering Winchester released for the Model 92 until more recently, when they were offered in .44 Magnum and .45 Long Colt. The Model 92 is a revolver-cartridge action, nowhere near big or strong enough for .45-70.
@@SEO122 I am so sorry, that was a typo. It was supposed to say .44-40. Thanks for the heads up. I got to shoot it once before it was changed. The 32-20 was manufactured in February 1892. Both had octagon barrels and the large hoop levers. They were replaced with standard levers. At the time, The Rifleman was running. That weapon was a Model 92 as well. I wanted him to leave hoop on the .357 but he said too cumbersome to hunt with. I took a 4 point buck when I was 15 with the .357 mag.
So its a Rossi rebrand.
Any idea if they plan on producing a 1873 version?
If tbere as cheap as the pistols, im in.
The safety is a nice feature, as the magazine has to be emptied through the action. I replaced the rear sight on my Rossi 92 with a Marble's Target Bullseye sight.
Does Heritage even make anything of their own? That's a Rossi M92, complete with Rossi safety, just branded on the buttstock with an "H". Their Roscoe revolver is a Taurus M85 revolver with Heritage markings.
Chiappa makes a very smooth 92 without that STUPID bolt safety..!!
I can’t even believe they put that stupid safety on it just like Rossi. Don’t they realize people will literally choose to pay $1200 for a Winchester just because of that thing? I wouldn’t have if not for that one thing.
I guess it must be nice to afford a $1200 rifle just so it doesn't have a safety on it. Some of us have to work for the money we get and thus have to be a little more thrifty. BTW, while the Rossi 92 isn't the best gun in the world for fit and finish, it still runs pretty darned well.
@@kirkmooneyham don’t think for a second that I don’t work for every penny I have. You’d be mistaken. And I have no doubt the Rossis run good. I would want one myself. But I’m not going to have that outrageous, unnecessary eyesore on top of what otherwise is a beautiful rifle, not in need of any changes or “improvements”. Winchesters have flaws too but they aren’t really visual, more operational, but they can be dealt with if you’re willing to risk voiding any warranty.
Purty
morning, i would love to see you cycle a dozen rounds. thanks,k
This is cute as hell
I have Taurus revolvers and was in the process of buying a Rossi lever action rifle, but since Brazil has become a very communistic country, I will no longer be buying Taurus or Rossi guns.
What country is the device you're using to follow this video made? I bet dollars to donuts it is not a country noted for free enterprise.
@@RoyRealithat device is 100% made in a communist and or socialist country. The hypocrisy with people not buying guns made in a certain country because of their government is insane, considering the US is an absolute trainwreck and on its way down the same exact path really soon.
Carbine stock on a rifle.
Good looking gun I just do not trust them no need for that safety
Keep buying guns Americans. Go 2A .🇺🇸🦅🗽
I really do not like the flat wood on the top of the stock. Just looks rird ans uncomfortable
The safety is a big NO for me.
i feel like the intent of the manual safety might be more so to let you safely put the hammer on the safety/half cock notch and then disengage it
I’m not sure if that was the intent, but I had that same thought. It’s a good use for it.
