Helping my mom downsize and get rid of a lot of clutter. Your videos have helped me figure out things that may be of more value. Enjoy watching them. You have a lot of varied knowledge
Happy to help Crystal. It cost me a lot of tuition money to get that knowledge. 😊 I help many people downsize by visiting their homes and sorting the trash from the treasure. Many items in 1 hour I get to it all.
Lol I wish you could help me!!! I’m pretty good about sorting through stuff. Plus when I’m question I have a mother in law who has antiqued for many years so I can get her opinion too. Mostly though it’s just packing everything up to haul it out. Then decide keep, donate, yard sale, sell on line. It’s just a long process. But we are getting there!
Ok I’m hooked. If only I’d known there were university classes and degrees associated with evaluating paintings! Thirty years too late, but how exciting!

Love her shows. However from my knowledge the salvation Army and maybe the Goodwill do not negotiate, once that sticker (which is sometimes too high) is put on, it stays that way. At least in Scranton, Pa it does.
I believe it’s different depending on where you live. I live in a very populated area. SA and GW’s here do not sell for less. If you want it for half off you have to wait for that sticker color of the week. SA won’t sell you anything that has no price on it. They claim it’s sent back to corporate for pricing. Wish they were nice enough to negotiate with you. Oh well....
@@DrLoriV Yep! All of them are districted seems like it. I travel for a living and some have actually got a sign saying attempts they count as theft and if anyone DOES negotiate with you successfully they will count that as theft. It's crazy. I don't shop at those. They are way to anal.
I purchased a small painting back in the mid-nineties. Not what I would call a pretty piece of art, but I had a friend who no longer wanted it and swore it was valuable. I've shown it to three different appraisers who seemed quite shocked. I can't have it evaluated by the artist's estate since I cannot travel. My piece was described as a gouache'. And the last appraiser who saw it, claimed that there was a "museum note," on the back, in pencil. I had been unable to determine what was written. He claimed it said, "Chagall out of frame." The piece is apparently very famous. Painted on heavy, aged paper, appearing to be torn from a tablet at the top with a center pin hole. Just like the one shown on the Met's site. However no one will speak with me about it since it's not been authenticated by the artist's estate, but again, I can' t travel. I did send transparencies to the artist's estate three years ago, and I did have an appointment with them, but my life changed very quickly and I was unable to go. All three appraisers who have seen the painting, in person, gave it a very, very high valuation, but I'm not sure I believe them.
I would love to have help. I see that you'll be in Atlanta (home for me), in April. If things work out, perhaps we can get together. I'd really much rather you see it in person instead of an image. Thank you so much for answering.

Either way, I left it not feeling confident in my decision and Dr. Lori videos running through my brain! Lmao!
