what this did so well is make us feel the fear of the kids right before we get slapped in the face with Prushka's reaction. We know what kind a monster he is, Reg and Riko kinda know, nanachi knows way too much, but then we see Prushka running to him like a child runs to their parents when they're back from work. Two totally different opinions of this man in this hallway and we're left fearing what the hell is gonna happen during his drawn out walk that feels like forever. What a scene.
Nanachi knowing way too much is one of my favorite things about this part of the story. She knows all the twists way before the viewers or readers, yet she can't bring herself to inform the other characters. Partially because she was still hoping to get past idofront without conflict, partially because she didn't want to burden them with the truth.

This man is a f*cking menace. All he did was walk in and everybody froze in fear (except Prushka),even the viewer is left speechless with his mere presence. What a scene!
There are rivals. There are antagonists. There are enemies. There are villains. There are monsters. And then. There is Bondrewd. Someone who doesn't even do cruelties because of a grudge, a master plan, or some kind of revenge. Because in his actions there is no cruelty, at least for him. He acts in name of love. A twisted, horrific, inhuman love. He loves his children. He remembers all of them, and loves them even in their cursed and dehumanized bodies. He didn't make them suffer out of hatred or anger, but out of need. He justified his wrongdoings with love. He experimented on himself, his family, his daughter, and her friends, out of pure curiosity. Not even once he insulted or got angry with Riko, Reg, Nanachi, or anyone else. He praised them. He recognised that they had some qualities, even when he almost died. He never felt anything. Just curiosity. Like a three years old child tearing one by one the limbs of an ant to see how it moves. This is truly horrifying. And this isn't even the beginning.
I love this... hope other reactors/viewers in this MASTERPIECE atleast try to understand that because "Riko" can not/couldn't pass through to 6th layer w/out "PRUSHLE".

Bondrewd is such a great character. He is unlike any other villain I have ever seen, he just completely lacks the sense of good and evil, not quite one those villains who act evil for greater good, nor like one of those villains who commit evil acts cause they feel like it.

Worst thing is even though they beat Bondrewd within an inch of life, he’ll still continue hurting children for his research. Nothing about this is positive.

Your heart stops for a split second and it sends a shiver down your spine that can't be replicated any other way. Scares me, I'll admit. I didn't even realize I stopped breathing when he came on.
He is the best antagonist ever, not evil, happiness or any emotion, just the joy to discover the unknown the truth behind it, with the only difference that he does not limit himself with "etic", he will do whatever necessary to know the mystery of the abyss, just a scientist without any sense of "moral" that a common person would have. He is a pretty interesting character. I don't know if he is doing it for himself or to help others, however,he has make a lot of progress.

The only reason I would say not to start with this one is the sexualisation of children. You need some other anime that have enough epic stuff going on and sneak a bit of questionable content in that you don’t mind to reach the point where it won’t phase you. As far as the actual story and events, they’re great and something I’d definitely recommend to someone as a first taste of anime.
Do it, toughen up. Aftet this you can get through anything, plus the whole show isn't a fucked up scene every episode. It's adventure, world building where it times it gets real and dark but it's not what the whole show is
I didn’t realize the 3rd movie was the bridge from s1 to s2 so for half of s2 I’m trying to remember Prushka and Meinya and coming up with nothing. Then I looked it up, watched the movie and came out understanding more, but having even more psychological trauma
I didn't do the same because I follow this series religiously, but this makes me wish they had a "previously on" segment at the start of season two, outdated as that device is. It would at least clue viewers in that "Hey, there's a bunch of things you missed, maybe check that out too!"
Bondrewd is a monster. But a necessary one, the abyss is a thousand times more cruel than him, and to chip away at the secrets it holds one needs to sacrifice everything. Bondrewd knows that and more, he probably sacrificed himself and his humanity to have a his whistle, he sacrificed his children to create a safe way up, he sacrifice his followers to study the abyss even after his death and he will continue to sacrifice more just to get more information of the abyss. He is a monster, but a human one. There's also hints in the manga that the abyss probably will kill humanity, and if that's true bondrewd's work is even more important. Every sacrifice is done to save humanity and every death is remember by bondrewd, as all of those memories are etched into his mind as martyrs of a better future
