This vid prouve that you can not win mega when you start far from top riders in terms of line. I raced it in the early 2000's. Was on the last line in qualies. Manage to qualify into finals but my starting line sucked again. This vid remind's me my own mega (apart the start from the glacier).

Why did Sam Hill have to start at the back of the pack? He would have probably set a course record if not for all the traffic to contend with.
He had a puncture whilst leading in qualifying so started a little further back. you struggle if your not qualifying on the front row
