I know the following is counter intuitive but don't knock it you try it. It transformed the stock suspension for me to the extent I no longer feels it needs upgrading. Had the pegs down yesterday and was rock solid.
The stock Honda suspension isn't bad (once dialed in - see below) but could be improved. I was struggling to set it up then found the following advice and it worked a treat -
Front suspension - over sprung and under damped -
Solution, back pre-load off to the stop (minimum 14mm black nut) and wind rebound damping up to max then back off 2 clicks (increasing rebound damping does not make the suspension harder - it merely slows the recoil of the spring).
Rear Suspension - under sprung and under damped.
Solution Wind Pre-load adjuster to max and back of 5 clicks (solo) or 3 clicks (pillion + luggage).
Rebound damping 3/4 of a turn anticlockwise from fully clockwise.
Still not as good as a decent aftermarket replacement but has made the bike feel much better planted and more comfortable.

Fantastic! 👍I’ve arrived at nearly those settings by making incremental changes over the last nearly 3 years. I don’t load mine up as heavy as yours so don’t need quite so much pre-load on the back. As you say, they handle when set up well. Thanks for the info and keep your videos coming. 👍

Great review. Your dedication and ability to keeping it look that good is amazing. I recently left mine for 3 days after a ride on salted roads 😢 and not sure I'll ever get it back to looking like yours.

I would love to know what Honda did to smooth out the shaft clunk. I only really get it in second and third gear at low speed. Ive owned a 2015 for around 5 years, otherwise outstanding bike. Very happy.

I put a pr6 on the rear of mine and it feels stiffer and less agile, very grippy though

I have the 2012 model and accessories are ,scorpion can.Mra screen,Oxford heated grips,USB port,Zieger bash plate,Honda panniers with Givi 58l top box ,radiator guard, rear hugger, fender extender and job done ✅ Also the Yamaha 1200 super tenere is a contender to the 1200x crosstourer but it’s not got the engine lol

Sounds like a very complete machine, Paul. I think mine may be fairly unique in being totally and completely standard, absolutely zero mods at all. Although, I must admit if a nice Akrapovic popped up I’d be tempted but £650 (that’s direct from Akrapovic themselves, way cheaper than any dealer) it’s a big investment. Hope you’re enjoying yours as much is I enjoy mine. Thanks for watching.

Hi mate hope you’re well. Yes i like my bike standard but put the accessories due to making it more complete. The exhaust I had to think about it but got a great deal on it on Black Friday and it’s good and not loud etc just right.

While I look favorably on having my rear hugged or even just a hug from the rear, by the right female of course, I have a feeling the rear hugger you mentioned is something else. What exactly is a rear hugger?

A rear hugger is the mudguard attached to the rear wheel to stop crap on the rear shock. It must be uk terminology for rear fender

You need to look at Nitron, their TVT forks allow compliant controlled handling for normal road riding with the ability to absorb large hits when off-road.
Combine their forks with their R3 adventure shock.
To get the best out of the engine I run an acrapovic end can with the db killer removed, really let’s the engine zing to the top end of the rev range.

Great advice, much appreciated. I’m saving for the Akra can at the moment, be interesting to see what a difference it makes. 👍

@@headrace4863 👍🏻 the Akrapovic can saves you 2.5kg of weight adds 3.7NM of Torque and 5.9HP
the Nitron suspension is expensive, especially with me buying here in New Zealand but it’s so worth it.
Makes the bike compliant but controlled and that seesaw you get now when changing gear is gone really let’s you use the bike to its full potential.

Part of the same family, the 1200x being the first I think, the NC, the 800 and the 500 as you say. 👍
