Can this be useful in a cage fight or a street fight ????
Surely not, so better practice kick boxing, brazillian jiu jitsu and wrestling rather losing time with this nonsense Martial art

To the untrained eye, one might believe kata is a useless dance.
For someone who has really studied kata and put in years into the old ways, these few will understand the benefit and purpose of kata.
I train bjj, boxing, and muay thai as well, and everyone I face says I am different.
When they say different, they say I have good timing, rhythm, calmness, mobility, etc..
I attribute all of these to my kata training.
To answer your question, will kata alone help prepare you for a cage fight? The answer is no. If you want to fight in a cage, practice fighting in a cage.
Will kata teach you the hidden aspects and principles that underly a vast portion of martial arts and combat sports? Yes.
      Hidden aspects, subtle principles:
      1. Focus
      2. Breathing
      3. Timing
      4. Rhythm
      5. Grounding
      6. Rooting
      7. Centering
      8. Power generation
      9. Visualization
      10. Awareness
      11. Mobility
      12. Flexibility
The list can go on and on..
Nowadays it's understandable that many want fast results and instant gratification, to live a viral life.
Not many want to train in the old ways, and it's because it is a long and slow process.
My karate background helps complete the circle on my path to becoming a complete martial artist.

The Form or Kata is like a race car track. It’s there to allow you to test the form and speed of your techniques in a structured way. You can never judge the extent of a person’s knowledge by looking at their Kata or forms alone. Can you use some of these techniques in the street? Hell yeah

I studied TaeKwonDo for several years and have f8nally found a Shotokan school. I am so excited because i have wanted to study Japanese Karate forever, but only thing I've ever been around was TaeKwonDo.
I have seen some of the best forms from people, but you sir on whole level of your own. So crisp. So precise. Feet placement perfect. I don't know the Shotokan forms yet, but I know the moves and stances you are doing. So good. I wish I was training under YOU lol. But I'm just thankful I found a traditional Shotokan school at all

ITF Tae Kwon Do is very similar to Shotokan. I started Shotokan at 14 switched to TKD, due to similarity and still train TKD. I am now 65. I owe a great deal to Martial arts and this video is amazing. It helps me rekindle old memories.
Well done sensei. You are truly a master.

I did this style when I was a kid for about 4 years or around that time. Then I left for high school. I think I got my blue belt and remembered bits and pieces of a few katas but some are similar and I remember getting confused between a few katas. 30 years later Im thinking of taking it up again and wished there was a video of all the katas so I could start practicing again and give me a head start when I start from white belt again at a new dojo. You just answered my prayers, thank you so much!

I did shotokan karate from the age of 14 until I was 23, when I finished my medical course. I reached the red belt and then I no longer had time to continue training and progress as I wanted. I continued to practice alone or with friends linked to shotokan, but already outside the dojos. This video is extraordinary and shows the perfection that this style demands, in short, true karate, and which I remember with immense pleasure, 40 years after leaving the dojo

Judo was added to the Olympics at Tokyo in '64 and TWD was added at Seoul in '88. Thanks for video, its excellent like everytime. Also, shotokan kata list consists of kata - hyakuchachiho (suparinpei wkf)

The classical kata of shotokan doesn’t include hyakyuchachiho , also I never learned it as well. It’s not in this video, but if I ever get the chance to learn and become good at that kata, I will do a tutorial! 🙏🔥

The first 9-10 generally are taught in that order, but I put time stamps for you guys to select the kata you are looking for
