I instructed kids for years in my art. I have to say you are so good at what you do . You make it so relatable and teachable.
You are too kind! I still have a lot to learn, but I really do love teaching kids and seeing them grow. Teens are fun too, and they mostly get my jokes, even if I don't always get their references. They help me stay in touch with what's happening and what's cool at the moment 😅
Thank you for this lovely comment, Paul!
OSU
You are my lovely younger sister
Thank You
🙏🏼
I'm 68 and learning from you is AWESOME
Ah, this makes me so happy to read! Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey 🙏🏻
Thanks! My grandma didn’t stand a chance
😆😆😆😆 One of my favourite comments ever 😂
😂😂😂I’m 59 and was thinking of starting 🤦🏾♀️
Straightening my leg for the kick was the hardest part. This toturial was easy, and fun! I've never done Karate before, so i will continue to watch your toturials!
Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Your flexibility will come with time, so keep on training! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment - we truly appreciate it :)
I literally had just one lesson and joined when the classes have already started few weeks ago. I watched few videos but her videos are best so far for me. Very explanatory and slow pace helps to take in basic moves. Thank you so much.
Ah, thank you so much for your kind words for my little video! I'm so glad you found it helpful, and we are grateful to have you here in our virtual dojo, @Ub_ers!
In the hard moments when you don't know how to defend yourself, you just need to decide what is better for you, the best choice is to learn a martial style, i joined muay thai and im going good, but im thinking to join karate, with such a good teacher you can trust and learn your self defense, Don't be shy, be strong and keep getting stronger
Muay Thai is a wonderful style, and brutally effective. I would never want to fight a Muay Thai specialist!
But you're right - we take the styles, ideas and techniques that work for us, and we keep training those concepts until they work under pressure. It's like that ancient Greek saying: "we don't rise to the level of our expectations - we fall to the level of our training."
Thank you for watching and commenting, and please forgive my late response to your comment :)
Best wishes,
Zoë
Great class, even for us, we don´t practice Goju Ryu style. I´m in the shotokan style, but your class is so complete that it works for everyone. Greettings from Chile. Oss =) .
I'm blushing! These are such kind words, and I am always so delighted to hear from friends in other styles. I loved Chile when I visited South America briefly in 2004, as part of a trip to Machu Picchu. Felt so welcomed by the friendly people of Chile, and went on wonderful tours of the cathedrals (and crypts!) of Santiago. Wonderful to hear from you, and thank you for taking the time to watch and comment 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
Oss!
Just started Goju Ryu at the good young age of 61....... Very helpful video..... From a Fellow Greek in Dagenham East London UK.
Yasou!
So glad my little video is helpful - that's all I ever hope for it :) And its lovely to hear from someone starting, at any age. It's like that saying - the best time to plant a cherry tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now :)
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, Paul - much appreciated :)
Thanks for the lesson. I really want to learn karate but there's no dojo near where I live so I think I'm gonna start here first.
Only a pleasure! And we would be honoured to be a part of your karate journey 🙇🏻♀️
Absolutely love this training! Looking forward to more trainings from you in the future!
Ah, thank you so much! So lovely to receive such kind words 🙇🏻♀️
I will think of more basics to film, and hopefully be back on the channel soon 💪
Thank you sensei🥋
That was an awesome lesson.
I have struggled with Mawashi Uke forever. Your nursery rhyme really helps! Great teaching!
I love your explanations! Good job! 👍🏼

We work hard at trying to improve how we approach teaching, martial concepts, and karate in general, every generation is a little different.
Amazing video! Thank you

As much as we think we'll one day advance beyond basics, we will need them forever! Thank you so much for watching and commenting :)
Nice lesson! Glad to see so many taking that first step. Keep punching!
Getting comments from so many beginners, and being a small part of their journey, makes it all worth it 💛

Arigato gozaimashita sensei! I have alot of time for anyone who takes the time to break down kihon and finding interesting ways to describe how to perform each technique. Very nice! 🙏🏾🥋

Excellent way of teaching
Ah, thank you so much! That means a great deal to me, as becoming a better teacher is always fundamentally important to me 😊
Thanks for the video
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment :D
Thank you Sensei for putting this video together! This is very informative and easy to follow. I will have my kids watch this to reinforce what they've already learned.
Ah this is the greatest of compliments: to know it will be of use to karate children 😍
Thank you so much for your kind words - it means the world to this most awkward of instructors 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
@@GojuRyuKarateCentre, there is yet another opportunity to teach by showing them how you were able to deliver a great lesson despite feelings of awkwardness. I am an introvert by nature, so I understand this awkwardness all too well. Thanks again for doing what you do!
Truly you have the spirit of a teacher! Always good to find the teachable moment. The funny thing is that normally I consider myself an extrovert, but there's something especially daunting about putting stuff out there. There's a lot of imposter syndrome, especially because I am just a nidan, and I happen to be married to an exceptionally talented karate man who is also a qualified teacher - it feels silly to put out my videos when he has more to offer!
These words of kindness and support make all the difference. Thank you 🙇🏻♀️
Very nice my country Bharat
Clear and informative, great video. 👍
Ah, thank you so much! Nerve-wracking to put out, not used to being in front of the camera still, but grateful it is well-received 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
@@GojuRyuKarateCentre you did really well .
Nice moves ,slow and easy to follow
What a great teacher! I wish I lived near you.

That is awesome! This comment has truly made my whole day! I hope to do more kid-friendly follow along lessons soon - you've inspired me to move them to the top of my filming list 📃
My gym went bust so I am working through your videos, first real Karate since 1978 thanks a lot!
Ah, that is so kind of you to say, Charles! Hopefully another dojo will come your way and you can continue the journey. If we can help even a little bit, then we're super happy :)
Your so good. Thank You so Much. Greetings from Tanzania
Ah, you are so kind! Thank you for taking the time to write, and to watch my very humble video 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️

Excellent vid for beginning Goju. Thank you for your time and energy producing this great vid. Looking forward to many more. Domo arigato. Peace
Ah, thank you so much! I am still humbled by how many views it has - it was just something I made originally for my students that seems to have done well outside the dojo.
Thank you for your kind words, much appreciated :)
I hope you continue these basic lessons. Really enjoy your teaching method.
Thank you, I will! Was hesitant to put this up, so I am glad it is well received 😊
@@GojuRyuKarateCentre you are fine instructor. many will not admit it but reviews like this are needed. I also like your wry humor. Please continue with the basics!
We all crave positive feedback, whether white belt or hachi-dan! Thank you - I will start planning another basics video soon. You have inspired me to keep trying 🙇🏻♀️

Much love from Kenya

You are so welcome! Thank you for supporting our channel, we really appreciate it 🙇🏻♀️
Thanks
I would watch this wonderful video just to listen to Zoe's British accent! It would almost be worth traveling to another continent to take in-person lessons- excellent presentation, rhythm, knowledge, skill... ! I immediately noticed the resemblence to Uma Thurman in the "Kill Bill" movies (in the U.S.). I studied Taekwondo for several years; attention turned now to Karate. Thank you for the video, very well done! [Please open a dojo in the U.S.!]
Excellent teaching voice!
Thank you, Sensei Terry! My plan growing up my whole life was to be a writer, but being a teacher is much more rewarding :)
Thank you I love to watch you and I'm starting to have Training a karate. Together with Some of my Colleagues
Took my third lesson in goju ryu today and thanks to you i can practice at home, awesome :)
So happy to hear that, Rickard! A combination of dojo and home training will take you all the way to black belt and beyond :) Thank you so much for watching my little video :)

Very helpful lesson to start Goju-ryu course.
Please add more elementary lessons.
You are most welcome! As you go though our archives, you'll see there are basic videos on stepping, kicking and blocking, and we hope you will find them useful :)

Wow, your method of teaching is phenomenal 👏🏼 the nursery rhymes are just as helpful for adults! You are by far the best teacher I've come across on RUclips. Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻💖🌞👐🏻🦋
Ah, this message has made my day! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment, and I wish you a long, rewarding and happy karate journey ❤🌺🌹
Thank you
You are so welcome!
I have only done a small amount of teaching with children. It is not something I really like to do, but always try to do well. You and Che are extraordinary. This is a great video, such good explanations. The kids in your program are VERY fortunate. You will, I think, have an incredible impact in their lives while carrying on a great TMA tradition. All the Best!
Ah, what a special and heartwarming comment! Teaching kids is as hard as it is rewarding - yesterday I wanted to tear out all of my hair because it was a particularly rough day of hearing "Sensei sensei sensei sensei" in surround sound, but it is also important for me to remember that they just want to share in what I know and to share what they love with me. It is a privilege to be able to teach karate full time, and one we will always be grateful for :)
Thank you Zoe for this wonderful exercise, 💪karate practice video❗ Been watching / practicing with your instructions multiple times this last couple of months. From my youth have always been a fan👍 of Bruce Lee💥 but only got the chance to take up karate in a college course that covered what you show here. White belt to white belt sigh🙄 but hopefully one day I can afford 💪real lessons🙏
You're so welcome! Our online training will always be free, and one day we hope you find the right dojo so that you can continue your training ❤️
Thank you!
Good lesson I enjoyed it.
😊 I forgot most of my movements.
Bam back in the game!
😂
You got this! So happy to hear my little video is helpful 🤗
Thank you!
You are so welcome! Thank you so much for watching and commenting 🙇🏻♀️
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You're a fantastic instructor. My daughter is 4.5 and we just started her in lessons. Her first night was overwhelming; the other students already know many of the beginner level moves and terms/language. This will help us so much! I wish you were here in Florida (well the U.S. version anyhow) . Yep, had to look up your Dojo - then your personal blog. You have a new fan. 🙂
Ah, Nicole, this brought such great joy to me! Please tell your daughter that I am so glad she is enjoying my video, and that I hope to produce an updated one soon soon for her and her age group! I am honoured to be a small part of her amazing journey ❤ I am also so glad that you enjoy my blog - one day, I'll get to writing more on it. Working hard on building the dojo and the youtube channel, and the blog has fallen away a little bit, to my shame. You know how busy mom life is!
Thanks again, and all the best to your little one. I always love to hear of the young girls coming up the mountain of karate.
Thank you so much this helped me now i love karate thank you so much
