I think Karate style blocks can work against punches. But it can depend on how well you can pick up on your attacker's punches. If you're dealing with wild aggressive punches then defenses like the Crazy Monkey or the clinch will be more effective. So add the Crazy Monkey and the clinch to your defensive approach.
I think the knife and outward blocks are just the same for they serve the same purpose of deflecting an attack in specific direction. If he opened his hand with the other four then you'll have more than 5 in this list.
The only 2 other blocks I don't see is double ( morote uke ) block and the double that comes round from the side with fist against inside of elbow. I remember years ago in late 70s I broke a guys arm ( not proud of it ) with knife hand block against his chudan tsuki ,but I did use a makiwara board every day at that time ,so I did have hard hands .Nice video .

Hi Mike, May I ask you what is your style in karate or other martial arts? In non contact karate styles usually using pulling hand for proper black, it’s part of basic karate blocks, calls Hikite. But if you train full contact karate styles, you might don’t need to pull hand in fight. Oss
