Something I'm learning is this: the Holy Spirit is living in me and the words of the Bible are spirit and life. So I "keep in step" "in the yoke" with Jesus and grow up in Him.
As someone who came to Anabaptism from a Lutheran and 12-step background, Weaver's explanation on Romans 6-8 and empowerment through surrender is wonderful. I always learn so much from his episodes, and his teaching style is so engaging. Thank you!
Often "why?" questions from those seeking to understand and make real-world sense of their faith. How does the New Testament speak to real world issues? Historical questions, questions about other faith traditions, faith application questions, identity questions, sociological and anthropological questions, and of course the integrity questions "Am I being honest with myself? with others? and with God?"
This was a great discussion, and I find the history of "Anabaptist heresy" ...the false charge of papists and "reformers" alike helpful to consider. The evidence that "lovers of the truth" persisted through the darkest years of the apostasy anticipated by Paul ...the Holy Spirit is vital to understand. And focus on ... essentially what we read from John that "Perfect love casts out fear" ...that the mature disciple is motivated by love to serve Him was uplifting and motivating. But the statement, "We couldn't even say that they are Anabaptists" was a bit sad. Were the disciples first called Anabaptists at Antioch, or Christians?

Please don't equate prejudice against Blacks with prejudice against Amish. Reveals a basic misunderstanding of historic racism.
