Anyone who asks about heated grips has either never ridden very long below 50F, or simply has never tried them. Heated grips and gear is amazing. For the dirt-bike thing, the big adv bikes are amazing for lousy roads, paved and unpaved. They are of course not a dirt bike. Great job as usual.

I always enjoy these videos because Zack can talk intelligently about the bike while riding it, but I have one small quibble with something he said.
He suggested that the $21,000-$24,000 price is a lot to ask for the Enduro, but that puts it squarely in the middle of the price range of it's primary competitors.
I agree that nearly $25,000 is a lot of money; more than I ever thought I would be willing to pay for any motorcycle. But I found that once you've ridden one of these top end ADV bikes for awhile, and realize that it can often replace your car for most journeys, the price becomes much more palatable.
You don’t need to pay that much to buy one if you can buy one that’s three years or four years old
Great info as always Zach. I would love to hear more on MC Commute about the other half of commuting... the gear! Tell me about that suit you are wearing, how does that bag feel while riding? How much can you fit in it? Are your boots comfortable enough to wear in the office all day? What if it rains? The thoughts on the bikes are wonderful, but as you well know, that's only one big part of commuting on a motorcycle.

Only one item was left out, I noticed that the wire wheels have the wires connecting to outside of the tires on the rims, thus allowing for the use of tubeless tires with wire wheels, without and wire spoke sealing systems having to be in place. Great review as always!

I know this is a 6 year old comment, but did you keep the bike for any length, and how has reliability been?

I have a 2016 MTS 1200S and I love it! It's a fantastic bike, and I agree that it's a tall sport bike. I'm thinking of taking mine to the track as well.
Agree on the heated grips. You learn how much comfort you can get from then until you have them.
I have a 13 Multistrada Gran Torismo and rides on gravel roads (which we have plenty of here in Canada) scare the crap out of me on the 190 rear tire. The Enduro will be my next bike for sure.
Trust me if you live in the UK 🇬🇧 you need heated grips. Awsome bike I love mine.
Agree with what you say about the bike being top heavy and even for a tall person like myself (6'4") she's quite a hand full to get on. However, the bike is great fun, easy to ride, sounds fantastic and is a real head-turner. Only criticism are the heated grips of which are not very good.
I wish these commutes came out more often!

The best system comes from the Honda Crosstourer.
Heated grips are essential in Europe, and for Spring and Autumn evenings.
I used to want to cut off my hands with pain due to cold hands until I bought heated grips for my old bike and current squeeze.
Even on a balmy summer evening, I'll set the grips on 10% heat just for that toasty sensation.

The USA measurement system was never standard. Your gallon and ton was never the full thing, both lighter than the rest of the world's gallons and tons.
as always Zack, great work. What is that col on the aerostich? IS that their new red/oxblood? MIght have to rethink that col choice for myself unless it's not that odd red in real life?

New multistrada a bit to salty for my budget. After 198.000 miles on my Ducati st2 went looking for a touring bike, found a 2011 1200s touring with all service records and lots of add ons seat, lights, luggage rack, crash bars . I think the 40.000 miles scared folks away from it. Got it for 6 grand 😎🏍🏍

I love my Enduro! Sadly, I live in a snowy place that doesn't make for good all-year riding. Nevertheless, I've put 13,000 miles on it so far, about 1,000 of which were in the dirt. I agree with everything Zack said, except for his assertion that he'd prefer the regular Multi. Then again, in my case, the Enduro wasn't competing against the regular Multi. It was competing against the BMW and the KTM. For me, it was love at first sight.

Stuck a Rapid Bike Racing ECU on mine with a Rapid Bike quick shifter/Blipper, thing handles and goes like a Dream! averaging 270 miles 430kms per tank even when giving it some...

This thing has a fuel tank almost the same size as my car!
Has Ducati addressed the ethanol induced fuel tank swelling? I bought a 2014 Multistrada 1200 S Touring and within a year of exposure to CA's 10% ethanol fuel the tank was expanding and pushing the fuel cap upward out of the plastic tank shrouds. My first expanded tank was replaced under warranty. Within the second year of ownership the replacement tank also swelled and Ducati's response was that it's only a cosmetic issue and since the factory warranty had lapsed they would not replace the second tank. I love my Multistrada but the plastic tank issue is really frustrating, especially considering there is no known permanent fix and Ducati has known about the issue for many years. I know several people with the same bike who have the exact same expanding tank problem. As fun as it has been to own a Multistrada, the tank issue has left a bitter taste and I will likely purchase a different brand next time if they can't resolve this problem for its high-paying customers.

Zach I am also 6’2 and found all adventure bikes put me too high up and I get a lot of buffeting around my helmet , did you get the same from this bike ?
i sat on this bike and liked it alot,( more money) it was nice to have a tall seat but wound up with my 796 which i bought as an around town street bike and quickly found out it really hates the dirt...its amazing on pavement but twitchy and nervous on even flat dirt and becomes pronounced in gravel. and judging by the scratches on the bike and what you say, the multistrada is no better
If litres confuse you, compare them to quarts. 85litres are almost 90qt. In Europe a normal soda is 33cl (1/3 litre).
Is the Ducati Enduro center stand bolted into the engine case like their side stands?

You are missing the point of large Adventure. These bikes are for people who get up in the morning, and want to drive 4 hours to another place, eat lunch, get back on the road, cruise a good road and some trails for two hours, then turn around and ride 4 hours home.
The mid-weight are for an hour or so in comfort on the road, an hour off-road, then two hours back home.
It’s a direct trade off.
Weight=comfort and bigger engine, worse off-road

I mostly ride alone. If you're riding with buddies then they can help you after your 650lb pig gets stuck in a wallow. That doesn't work for me. Everyone has different needs. I was expressing mine. Since I wrote this 5 years ago we now have the Yammie T7 the Aprillia 660 Tuareg and KTM upgraded their Adventure to an 890. These are not light bikes but I think I could pick them up if I didn't break a leg in a fall. This happened to a buddy of mine in Baja. He was riding a 990 Adventure and he toughed it out and made if back to civilization. He's one tough SOB.
All I ask is 1 question: KTM 1290 SAS or Multi 1260 S? Which one would you buy?

CPUspeed I've never felt my 1290sdr was hot. Granted my 950 sm I thought was brutally hot.

hujimix. Coke and Pepsi released 1.5 liter bottles here in the US because they are easier to drink out of than 2 liters. ☺
hujimix litter is used all over the world... just the us and uk use something different but think this a litter is = 3 normal sized coca cola cans
Tonatiuh Lopez you can use a soda liter for reference or a US quart is just under a liter. That's typically an easier reference for those who don't use the metric system often.

Heated Grips. Because when you ride year round, your hands get cold sitting in the wind. It's the little things in life.
Just send riders up here in the north and push them to ride until Thanksgiving. They'll understand about heated grips.

34 ¼" seat height.... damn, I'd say that's way too tall for any rider used to 31" sport bike seat height. lol
I'm 5'8" and I'd say I'm brave enough for riding 33.1" Versys 650 which is also 478lbs (which I can't flatfoot on both sides), but would I even dare trying this Multistrada? Hell no! You'd have to be a pretty strapping fella to ride this super tall 600lbs beast.

Shed some information on gearing of motorcycle and how achieve more top speed or better torque by gearing. It'll helpful. They are a lot of complicated videos on this topic of gearing. I request you to make it simple to understand.
Faizan Mohammed by gearing I assume you mean drive chain rather than the gearbox itself. Basically to reduce the ratio, therefore increase acceleration by shortening the gearing, you remove teeth on the drive (front sprocket or add teeth on at the wheel. The opposite is true to gain top end; like a mountain bike. When changing one you should ideally change the whole set including chain as they wear with each other (not too much of an issue on a new chain,
Nathan Bowd Yes, I was looking of information on sprockets. My bike is a Yamaha YZF-R 15 (150cc). I am looking forward to tune the sprockets on my bike for low rpm high speed cruising for example 100kmph @ 4000rpm. My bike runs on standard sprockets that is 14 T front and 42 T back.

$430 for the first service, then replaced shift sensor, fuel level sensor, rear brake master cylinder, all in the first year. But it is still my best all around bike, my GS Adventure gets no love, KTM 690 gets no love, Superduke gets no love.

Why do ADV bikes have hand guards?
To protect from tree brushes, and bigger branches/tree trunks etc.
