    That intro beat is tight! I want to hear more. He's just saying don't abandon the gi. I think it keeps things tighter and precise.

    I agree that training in the gi is important. Most Bresilian MMA fighters are BJJ black belts(gi black belts). MMA fighters from America and Europe don't want to end up on the ground with Bresilian black belt.
    The proof is in the pudding.

    Also I think that training jiu-jitsu with Gi is good to develop your "grappling intelligence"; because with Gi there are very much more variables. However it is not true that jiu-jitsu is the most important aspect of MMA. In my opinion the combination of wrestling and boxing is clearly more important. Cabral will not be able to take down a world class wrestler, so against this kind of opponent his jiu-jitsu would be almost useless. At some moment it is ok to train with Gi to exercice more your grappling mind, but once you move to MMA, the best is to train without gi. Beside a very age-worn Sakuraba, Cabral didn't face any world class MMA opposition.
    In the world of sports there is a sacred rule, that said that you must train as you are going to compete, period. MMA is not the exception of that rule.

    Everyone should train in the GI because otherwise this limits their game in MMA where you fight without the GI...where is the logic in that? I have a wrestling background and I have studied BJJ only for a few months...when we all train in the GI it takes black belts about 45-60 seconds to submit me with all the lapel chokes but as soon as the GI is off I get most of the black belts onto the floor and control them until the end of the round. GI is only good for training to compete wearing a GI.

      Bro if the black belts cant do anything to you without the gi and you have only been training for a few months there is only 3 explanations: 1-they are shit and your gym is bad (in this case you should consider switching gyms); 2-you are a genius and a freak of nature who can learn anything by just seeing it and aply it without effort (in this case I recomend you train hard and compete as you will probably be a world champ in no time); 3-(most likely) you are lying (in wich case you should consider stopping its not cool)

    I disagree, train the way you will fihgt, hes maybe that good but not everyone can train in a gi and bring it to no gi. I follow Eddie Bravos school of thought.

    Hey who was in charge of subtitles color?

    • @BJJHacks
      @BJJHacks  10 лет назад +1

      All our subs are yellow. It's the best colour to work on all backgrounds, although there will always be times when it doesn't appear clearly. One tip is to turn up the quality to 720p, the subs are much clearer at that resolution.

    "Fighters don't want to train in the Kimono, because there is no Kimono to grip in MMA, but that's kind of ignorant no? The fighter who trains in a kimono has more attacks, more positions." - This is a ridiculous statement, none of those additional positions you would learn would be applicable to MMA. Point and fact, learning a lapel choke would be utterly useless, there would be literally no way to apply that to an mma fight. Training no gi is harder, you don't get such easy wrist and ankle control, or control of your opponents body, you have to grab the arm itself behind the tricep, requiring you to be far more focused and accurate. One guy with a 12-0 record saying because he does it you should is hardly convincing, especially when he makes no argument other than you need to spend time on the floor, and you can spend a lot of time on the mat doing no gi jiujitsu, and quite frankly if you spent equal amount of time they guy with No-Gi reflexes is going to win a No-Gi fight, it's simple.

      The champiñones from adcc and the best submission experts train with the gi. You have to do both. To be better grappler the gi vive more empashis on the tecnique side of the grappling. to fight mma You need more no gi grappling but train with the gi will improve a lot the and make you more complete.

      Omar your statement doesn't make any sense. "It will make you more complete" how would techniques related to non mma fights make me more complete for mma fights? I understand there is a ritualistic nature to fighting with a GI, but your response is the same as the video "all the champions do it!!! Lets all do it too!!!!". You do not need to train with a GI if your plans are competing without one. Yes fighting with GI would make you a more complete fighter, but that practice has absolutely nothing to do with MMA.

      @thanatos0x0 without the gi you can be less téchnical. You can survive easier when someone has a full locked téchnique on you. With the gi thats not posible and make you.learn better téchnique. The Best grapplers in adcc train a lot with the gi. I Dont say you need to train 50% Of your grappling time with the gi. That can be diferent For each fighter but For sure. A fighter need Some time to train with the gi to be more técnical and precise. I train both, more with the gi Now and i See a Big improVement. I fought in Box ÁMateur and in mma semi-pro in my country and i tell this For my personal experience and What i See in mma grappling adcc etc. Have a Nice Day mate.
