+stevers62 She was a delight. I got to work on her last cabaret act. You can find a live recording of her show on iTunes. It was released by AEI (no relation)!
+Alan Eichler Thanks and YES I bought that a few months ago when I saw an interview with her for the first time. I bet you have some great stories getting to work with such a class act.....the first "official" beloved Mrs. Madrigal. :-)
+stevers62 She was wonderful, and never stopped looking forward. She had resumed doing her act and was busy filming a documentary. She would have accomplished a lot more if cancer hadn't struck her down.
I'm old enough to remember that back in the sixties and seventies Christine did a fair amount of television interviews, and she was always fascinating. I wish more of these were available.
I finally got to see The Christine Jorgensen Story tonight and then found this interview. I feel like I missed one of the most amazing people ever. What an absolutely charming and engaging woman she was. Thank you so much Ms. Jorgensen for your courage to share your life with us!
Thank you SO much for uploading this historic piece of video. It's a fascinating look at the first well known transsexual who had surgery in 1952 !~! Amazing to watch !
Roberta Cowell, in the UK, was before Christine Jorgensen. Lili Elbe (whose real name was Lili Ilse Elvenes) was never on female hormones. She was surgically castrated
The interviewer, Ron Niles, seems quite ignorant; at the time of this interview, it is 34 years AFTER Queen Elizabeth took the throne, and he does not know who the Queen of England is when she was crowned when he was 26 years old, in 1952. Christine, is delightful, she carries this interview entirely.
I thought I had read before that she tipped off the press herself about her surgery. I notice here she says a family member sold her story to the press.
I knew Christine fairly well and I think she was truly embarrassed when the story broke. But being the shrewd businesswoman she was, she decided to use the publicity, instead of hiding from it, and developed a show business act that was quite popular at the time. Here's a sample: ruclips.net/video/HWOsIBJVFes/видео.html
I would have liked to have seen "Paradise, Not for Sale." I saw Lee Grant's "What Sex Am I?" It was great but I wasn't aware at the time that part of it was staged. The two transsexuals in the beginning of the film were actually female impersonators from Memphis, but living in Houston, and they didn't use their real names nor identify them as such. They both later died of AIDS. At least one of the them, supposedly, said she regretted appearing in the film and having the gender surgery.
Miss Jorgensen is a delight. I could listen to her for hours.
Fascinating woman. She would have been a treat to chat with. Truly brave person with good humor.

Great Lady. Her book motivated me so much!
She was truly a woman---no doubt about it. Direct and matter of fact but graceful and elegant. Very, very feminine.

I am so sorry we did not meet in person. What a wonderful woman!
Thanks for this upload, Alan.
What a great broad! And how perfect to hear that her and June Lockhart were buds.
Christine was wonderful in every way. Faultless and engaging.
The interviewer was the epitome of ignorance.
She's so charming.
very classy, sophisticated and stylish love her attitude❤️
Lovely lady

The first to transition with surgery AND hormone replacement therapy.
The first known woman to transition with both HRT and surgery was Lili Elbe in 1930 (under the care of true pioneer Magnus Hirschfeld)

A lot of good coke was available in the 80's and the interviewer is proof of this.
LMAO!

omg he is ignorant....
love her....ICON
I wish that I could have met her....so naturally feminine.... she so reminds me of my dad's sisters when I was growing up....

That was all one sentence.
I'm working on a project about Christine Jorgensen. Could someone tell me more about this program? I'd like to use this material in my project.
It was a half-hour public access cable show that aired in the Los Angeles area. Email me at aeichler@earthlink.net for any more info on Christine.
@@aeichler Will do!
@@aeichler Just checking to see if you got my email from acarston4488@gmail.com over the last week. Thanks!
.She was one of the well known transgendered person ( male to female) at age 26.. in her former life she was a military man.
reminds me of an older lana turner, sounds just like her.
But lightyears more interesting than Lana Turner, in my opinion.

Here's Pt. 1 of Christine's segment in "Paradise Is Not For Sale" and it will lead you to Pt. 2: ruclips.net/video/8Kf-dP8iSqQ/видео.html
Alan Eichler Thank you.
How come she was so rich?
She was in the military
and to think some people still don't think of trans women as women
