semicell Did you know that your comment violates the third law of Logic, "Law of Non-contradiction". For every Proposition either that Proposition is true or it's negation is true. It's just a complicated way of saying your second sentence contradicts your first sentence.
I love the summary about comparison helping to understand the flavors. Very nice to hear instead of just the usual "If you don't like cranberry, don't use it." It's good as a craftsman to at least understand the appeals and how to balance it so that you CAN like it
Mad Cool, Dude. You just did the first day of bar tending school. I just started learning and found out people basically order the same 60-80 drinks for the last 120 years. The way you broke them down by liquor make memorizing the basic cocktails a snap. I hope you do the same with whiskey, gin, tequila, and brandy
Again, I really like the simple explanation series--they lend well to sharing. I'm not a vodka drinker these days, but I know a lot of people who stick to one main 2-ingredient drink because they don't really know what else to do with the spirit that they have clung to for so many years.
Hahaha!! We always seem to accumulate vodka...because people bring it over or we get a sample bottle or something and we don't drink it. It just makes everything taste like...well, vodka. I used some to remove my son's sharpie art from a wall the other day...does that count? ;)
Best choice of vodka you have there if you ask me. RS platinum is in the league of its own imo. The gold and standard versions blow most others out of the water too
Love it! Great to see my question answered not just through the comment section but also in a video! My new go to video for when I'm looking for some vodka recipes!
well, the way I see it, if it's not for the fans telling me what the _need_ to know, I am shooting in the dark. If you need the information I'm sure there are a ton of silent folks out there asking themselves the same question. This is how I created a few of the past viral videos--people asking similar questions and me saying to myself "hmm, this seems to be a demanded request"
Nice video Derrick. I'm not usually a big vodka drinker but this along with your interview with Archie at Black Cow Vodka provided some interesting information.
If ya can you should try this mix my bartender teacher taught me. Non-Vodka Jolly Rancher Shots (sweet as all hell) 1 Oz. Green Apple Pucker 1 Oz. Watermelon Pucker 1 Oz. Cranberry Juice with ice. Otherwise love the vids really informative keep up the great work.
My husband and I are going on a cruise in July (Carnival). The cruise line allows one 750ml bottle of wine or champagne when boarding, per adult. We have the unlimited soda and juice package (not the alcohol package, too expensive). What kinds of drinks can we make with our soda, juice package if we bring wine and/or champagne on board?
I would have loved to have seen you throw in something like a vodka press or even a vodka collins. Both are very simple cocktails that have really only 3 ingredients and are probably more accessible to the average consumer trying to make cocktails at home. They also have more of a "wow"factor since they're not as commonly encountered in modern bars but are more classic cocktails in my opinion. Also, a vodka press is a very interesting drink because its very easy to build off of to create more interesting flavors and more interesting profiles by just adding one more simple ingredient. Overall though, I'm enjoying the direction you're taking the channel. Going back to basics and sticking with the "common man"part of the channel.
I left out the vodka collins for a few reasons: video length (less is more in this case), boring factor (vodka collins is one of the least exciting and least tasteful drinks) and a shared ratio pattern in the drinks I selected. The idea of simplicity in this case, you can basically always take your 1.5 oz. vodka and add a ratio of fruit (4.5 oz. typically) and get the drink result. Once you start working with sodas, tonics, waters things get a bit different. I left out the collins and mule on purpose, but they were the next two on the list.
chocolate martini (chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, chocolate vodka). Well, that's what I'd suggest. But, I'd not buy them at all...but I know they're popular products. We've had companies send them to us. Or, used 360 glazed donut vodka instead of vanilla (kinda the same flavors to me)
So what I learned is that juices are better than soft drinks because I tend to have things like lemonade and creaming soda with my vodka for some reason, might try these juice ones now
If so many of these drinks utilize citrus, why don't they require shaking (except for the Bay Breeze)? I thought cocktails require shaking if they use citrus, like daiquiri or margaritas. And if they're straight booze, they're stirred, like Manhattans. I have no experience with mixing drinks, but I suddenly gained interest in learning, so any advice would be super helpful. Thanks!
mainly because mixers (two component drinks) usually don't have a ton of ingredients to integrate. The alcohol integrates fine, you could give it a stir or two if you want but integrating citrus and the flavor of the spirit when it's primarily citrus and a tasteless spirit is mainly a waste of energy. Shaking also aerates the drink as well, giving it a different texture. You can shake them if you want, but you won't gain too much benefit flavor wise.
my favorite mix is just a shot or two of vodka and pineapple juice ! i rly dont enjoy the taste of alcohol, so most of the time i just shot pure vodka, but i feel like pineapple rly takes away a good deal of the taste
just made bay breeze... changed my life 😂😂 seriously I usually have vodka water with a lime wedge... or vodka pineapple juice and tonic with lime wedge... not a college student but hey lol
Fantastic! You'll see that in a few weeks on our new channel The Craft Cocktail where the first fifteen episodes are all focused on simple vodka drinks. ruclips.net/user/thecraftcocktail
I didn't have any of these juices, but I had mango juice :D Hmmm what should I call it? "Son of a gun," there you go LOL I like the idea of using fresh squeezed juices; I know that would taste better! I also saved lots of money from getting crappy drinks at a crappy club.Thank you for this video!
It's funny to me that it's an "idea" to use fresh juices, because that's really the basis to all of these cocktails dating over 50+ years :) But, I understand, I said the same thing to myself a few years ago before doing it as well. We moved from craft to "speed" and "fast" and forgot about how they should be created then, years later, go 'woah, here is an idea...what if we used real juice?' -- it's pretty funny if you think about it.
I'm still a beginner at all this :D I've always wanted to learn more about mixing drinks, and I've recently had some time to practice. I always thought that bottled juices were some kind of given requirement for bartending. I was kind of scared of messing with the recipe LOL However, I'm not a fan of bottled orange juice-too sweet for me. I love the idea of using fresh squeezed orange juice and other juices!!!
I shouldve had this video a few years ago lol. Before I had to get vermouth, etc. I got on my way still, btu with a rockier start because of having to buy all the ingredients.
Thought you'd have more than just vodka + juices here (like Cosmos and Sex on the Beach, or maybe even a white Russian). But I'll definitely try picking up fresh oranges to squeeze next time I'm planing on making some screwdrivers.
nope, not for easy vodka cocktails. For people that just have a bottle of vodka and a small selection of liqueurs, this set will get them something to start working on. You probably want 7 of the best vodka cocktails vid: ruclips.net/video/RPqLQKQLDNw/видео.html
it is, I actually skipped that one on purpose (I have a series of vodka video's that expand on this topic I've been editing for a few months). I wanted to keep the list down to 6 that kinda all fit the same design/concept. I left out a few, namely the vodka collins and mule.
If you want to see the "action" of making cocktails, you can watch the other 2500 videos we've got, this video is a guide to some of the cocktails you should learn.
So where I come from we make a drink but don't know the name and I was hoping you do 25mm vodka 25mm white rum ( bucardy) 25 MM. gin 25 MM galliano 250mm orange juice 330 MM Coca Cola Anyone have any idears ideas Ps sorry if know one knows MM that's British standards
you could also just open a recipe book and go to the vodka section. There are dozens of ways to access information and everyone has the way they prefer, which is reflected in the view count. If people just wanted to read it off google, they wouldn't be on youtube searching for it, right?
people that watch video content on making a screwdriver (or other drink) usually want more information than "orange juice and vodka." So, I pose the question: why would someone ever search for how to make a screwdriver when they can glance the first google result that says "orange juice and vodka"? If you're so hard up to understand how to mix the two and need a video, you probably should stick around to learn more because you need a deeper understanding.
FYI, the length of all videos are on the thumbnail near the bottom right corner, you can tell how long the video is to avoid “wasting time” learning stuff from our content and channel
If people are too impatient to listen to the knowledge that isn’t my fucking problem lol, it’s their problem. People that want to learn stick around, everyone else? I don’t have time for them nor do I really care.
sorry, not the right show for you. It's a video show, lots of movement and talking to describe things, it's what happens. I don't do well in silent films :)
as a college student, obviously I'm gonna click if it says vodka in the title
lol, perfect! That's what I need! watch time + views = win.
As a college student , I approve
"Everyone has their brand loyalty. I have no real brand loyalty." lol

Jason Spades ?? Ok bro lol
@@max.aura10k yeah, because my RUclips name is clearly relevant.
Jason Spades what? Lol I didn’t say anything about your name
screwdrivers we're my least favorite drink until I tried it with fresh squeezed orange juice just now. World of difference.
I know right!
I love the summary about comparison helping to understand the flavors. Very nice to hear instead of just the usual "If you don't like cranberry, don't use it." It's good as a craftsman to at least understand the appeals and how to balance it so that you CAN like it

eventually I will, yeah, just working on the popular stuff first.
This channel is very underrated
totally agree :)
The bottle with the hammer and sickle in the background looks beautiful :)
LOVE THIS VIDEO! GREAT TEACHING VIDEO FOR NEWBIES AND GREAT REFRESHER FOR THE REST OF US. LOVE THE PROGRESSION! NEW SUBSCRIBER! THANK YOU!💜
Thanks

yeah, to get views up you gotta mention vodka. No matter how much we talk about not really wanting to use it :)
Hahaha!! We always seem to accumulate vodka...because people bring it over or we get a sample bottle or something and we don't drink it. It just makes everything taste like...well, vodka. I used some to remove my son's sharpie art from a wall the other day...does that count? ;)
interesting usage :) Whatever works!

Thanks bro.. Loved your vid.. Opened my mind in starting to creating my own cocktails.. This helped a lot...
great!!
I thought there would be a demonstration
nope, but if you look at every other video on our channel you'll find thousands!
Nice video Derrick. I'm not usually a big vodka drinker but this along with your interview with Archie at Black Cow Vodka provided some interesting information.
Great, I'm a fan of simple, easy to make drinks. Now I need some vodka!
This is a great series idea! I love it. Would also like a series that lists your favorites from the different spirits
Very creative, helpful and insighful video. Love this new kind of 'educational' videos you've been putting out! :D
nice vid, I love vodka my second favorite spirit I never have tried all these recipes with natural fruit, I will give it a try thanks awesome vid bro
thanks

no idea, I don't do wine/champagne juice combinations, we're pretty much all hardcore spirits.
I pretty much like to add a few drops of Angostura bitters to each of these.
it won't hurt, only make better!
Linked to this video from the most recent video and for some reason I never commented on this one. So thanks for the work. Looks like the link worked.
Love Greyhounds and Bay Breeze.
Excellent work! Tx!
Great Video. Looking forward to the next 101 series.
thanks!

Will this work with a flavored vodka, like Pinnicle Cotton Candy? Just wondering.
doubtful, those flavors are useful for very little.
What would you mix Carmel or chocolate vodka with??
chocolate martini (chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, chocolate vodka). Well, that's what I'd suggest. But, I'd not buy them at all...but I know they're popular products. We've had companies send them to us. Or, used 360 glazed donut vodka instead of vanilla (kinda the same flavors to me)

yeah, no doubt. Should try fresh squeezed juices.
Wish I had found this channel before I went to Bartender school:)
me too! hah!

Can you recommend an apple cider vodka cocktail?
I don't know of any, but I'd guess apple cider plus vodka :) Maybe fireball cinnamon whiskey :)

Grapefruit juice and gin is even better.
I need a fountain drink with vodka and a champagne cocktail with vodka help.

Common Man Cocktails love the videos man keep them coming
I saw somebody on you tube add ice cubes to there screw driver with pineapple juice as well. I thought there wasn't a standard screw driver recipe.
there is not a standard screwdriver recipe, correct, but there are good ones and bad ones. I call the bad ones non-standard :)
too much talking, no action
If you want to see the "action" of making cocktails, you can watch the other 2500 videos we've got, this video is a guide to some of the cocktails you should learn.

I will, just experimenting with different spirits to see what drives more views. :)
Turns out Iv been doing it wrong a power aid bottle 2/3 of vodka and 1/3 orange juice 😐
Credits rolling he still talking 😆😆
turns out, miming your explanation makes for a very quiet and boring video.
So where I come from we make a drink but don't know the name and I was hoping you do

Cool thanks

If you have heart problems you shouldn't be drinking alcohol at all in the first place, lol.
I think that's too open ended to say without knowing the problems.
how do you make a simple and delicious cocktail out of a Vodka ak47?
its vodka? Then follow the recipe instructions from this video or our recipe database, recipe.awesomedrinks.com/search/ingredients/?filter_on=Vodka
I like Caesars but that’s a Canadian thing
Why use oz as a measurement. ml or cl would make more sense
Same reason we use Miles per Hour in the US, it’s the base standard
Everyone has a brand loyalty, I have no brand loyalty. Hold the fuck on

did this guy seriously just make a 5 min video explaining how to make a screwdriver?
people that watch video content on making a screwdriver (or other drink) usually want more information than "orange juice and vodka." So, I pose the question: why would someone ever search for how to make a screwdriver when they can glance the first google result that says "orange juice and vodka"?
