You’ve been such a huge source of happiness in my life, and it’s been over four years now since I started following you regularly! During that time, so much has changed for me-I’ve achieved my dream of pursuing an MBA abroad and grown in ways I never thought possible. Through it all, you’ve been this constant inspiration, helping me navigate the early years of adulthood with your positivity and warmth. You’re the only RUclipsr I follow regularly, and it means so much that you’ve stuck with us through all these years. Thank you for being part of my journey. 💚
Dear Ruby, winter is the time to write and say what we think and feel and I believe what I want to say to you is „thank you“. I have watched your videos since I was sixteen and I’m turning 22 soon. Over the past few years I have absolutely adored your videos. They emit some sort of warmth and peace that I could only rarely find within myself. I have personally struggled with addiction not such a long time ago and watching your videos has anchored and helped me in the process of overcoming it, especially in ways of coming back to my old self. Nowadays, I like to make a habit out of waking up, making myself a nice cup of tea and watching one or two videos of yours to start the day. You have inspired me to aim for what I truthfully seek in life - peace, love and joy - in ways you might probably find hard to believe. So thank you! And have a wonderful Christmas time ❄️🤍
Huge credits to your parents for raising such a beautiful person. And your own character just adds to it. I wish I had your positivity about the day and your peace. Wishing you and your family a merry Christmas and a peaceful 2025.
Happy holidays ruby. Your videos are so cozy. As a full time worker for many years, supporting myself, relish and enjoy being home. Its a true luxury. All too soon its time to adult, pay bills, rent, mortgage car payments, food, try to save , etc. Grown up life is so expensive. Enjoy the slow, cozy pace while you can
I'm so grateful for the existence of your channel in this medium that is called RUclips. Thank you so much for taking the time to making this happen for all who come here to learn from it and to enjoy it.
Love your videos because they are a source of motivation and inspiration. I admire how you are serious about your life goals. I try to only periodically scan the newspaper headlines to stay aware but protect my mental health for the endless negativity.
do you create a bucket list for the year or is it just goals? i've noticed that for myself personally with adhd, measurable goals are easier, but they all center around certain themes for the year!
I've kept several quote books but I never thought to organize them by theme. I'm going to look into Commonplacing. Also your content this time of year always makes me feel thoughtful and festive.
I was one of those people who kept asking if you would do another yearly planner (school terms are different in Australia)! So happy to see it’s back I’ve ordered one already 🥰❤️ thank you Ruby for another year of amazing content. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas X
i'm a quiet follower but absolutely love, love, love the content as always. the vibes are so cosy and welcoming. also does anyone know the timer that is used at 11:31? i feel like i need that to help me concentrate and study!
OMG NOOOO😢 I brought the academic planner because I didn’t know there was going to be a proper yearly one again and now I want the yearly one. It’s the only planner that’s ever worked for me. I even said that on TikTok as well. Have a great Christmas Ruby!
I've commonplaced for many years, they started as a place to keep new words I'd learned and passages that struck me as beautiful in books I read, then lines in films and radio plays and even overheard comments. When my A5 book is full, I transfer them in to an A4 book, if they still feel relevant and beautiful in isolation. I discovered the concept of commmonplacing whilst reading of James Boswell, companion of Samuel Johnson, about twenty years ago and began to number my notebooks as 'Commonplace 1' etc. I've just started number fourteen. Mine are not at all structured, but just a place to log random information. It is amazing that one can recall the parts of a book they are taken from. I am rereading the works of JP Donleavey, initially read forty years ago, this time via a Kindle, as my shelves are full and the old books are getting delicate. Only last week I dug out 'Big Book 1' and I'm amazed that I have highlighted many of the same passages. Merry Christmas to you, your family, your follows and even your detactors.
Heya Ruby, I still watch Father Christmas and The Snowman without fail every Christmas since I was small (im 37 now) you honestly cant beat those early British animations... they're very magical.... Also that short story of yours was very good and it drew me in.... I remember watching The Animals of Farthing Wood when I was little too, was there any reference with that in the name? Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!
Dear Ruby, thank you for all these years of cozyness and motivation and for letting us follow you through your creative and academic journey. Being a PhD myself, I am very curious to know what research work you are doing (or what research you are planning on conducting). Also, will be possible to read your Christmas story somewhere? Have a wonderful and cozy Christmas. Best wishes from France 🤎✨🎄🎀
@RubyGranger8 Yeah please do! I would love to have it in physical form, perhaps later you can reprint it along with other material of yours that you have :)
great video, Ruby. Next time you're in Massachusetts see Shakespeare on the Common. The free Boston Common Shakespeare plays (this year it was A Winter's Tale) are wonderful. Also, if ever you return to the Emily Dickenson Museum note that you're 15 minutes away from one of the best bookstores in Massachusetts. Grey Matter Books in Hadley, Mass. I'd say 60% of the books I own are from Grey Matter. A HUGE comprehensive bookstore, much, much bigger and better than Amherst Books. Cheers!
My dream is to live in the beautiful English countryside ❤ I would love to have the same house style, I hope one day to buy a house not very far from costwolds
I see you put Fathers and Children on your reading list. I've always known it as Fathers and Sons, and it's one of my favorite books. (I have the translation by Constance Garnett.) In fact, I based my entire first novel (unpublished) around the protagonist carrying a copy of Fathers and Sons around with him on his adventures, until he finally burns it (which is entirely appropriate for the nihilist angle of the book). You will love it, Rubyinski. ❤
Well Ruby I love you afternoon tea ornament on your tree, also I love to hear you reading I just close my eyes and I just think I am in the story you’re voice is so relaxing, also your cousin is very like your mum Ruby Happy Christmas to you and your family and have a very relaxing Christmas and new year for 2025 ❤
Your videos feel like the spring sun! Me and my friend used to watch your videos back when we were studying music and it got us through many a dark time. Idk how you’ve done it for so long but I hope you continue if it feels right to you. RUclips comments are not the friendliest place; you must possess extreme empathy and a level head. I feel such disbelief when I read some of the critical comments but know they aren't the majority.
I made a commonplace book before I even knew what it was - it was cool to hear about it from you. Is there a way we can get a copy of your Christmas story?
Hi Ruby, I want to say you that you are my biggest inspiration. As an English literature student, your videos motives me alot. I am always waiting for your videos. Can you give me some books recommendations to study during winter holidays. Plz plz plz plz . I know I am greedy for asking you more But can you give us a video on what type of books you have ? Something like bookself tour
That's basically what social media is these days, isn't it? You can't go more than a couple of minutes without someone trying to sell you something that you don't need.
Apparently I have been "commonplacing" my entire life without knowing I was doing it. I don't think I could survive without it, at least not function even half as well. I would go crazy with all the information flying around loosely in my head without writing it down to store for later.😂❤
@RubyGranger8 I have a half digital- and half traditional approach. I always have an a5, 100 blank page moleskine notebook in a leather cover with a pen loop a pen and sticky notes and page markers and I also use private Pinterest boards for individual projects and topics that I write notes into the descriptions of and collect information with screenshots in. Every few weeks I print out the most important things on Pinterest and add them into the physical notebook. I love the feeling of gathering and collecting new information and inspiration so much!🥰
Did you have a lot of mid roll ads in this one? I think RUclips has changed the way ads work on videos, and so I’ll look into how I can change this if it was a lot! I’m sorry about that x
@RubyGranger8 yeah RUclips has become hysterical about mid roll ads after just a few minutes. Hope you have the power to fix it. Because the atmosphere in your videos are usually perfect and it is sad if it gets eaten up by RUclips ads.
@@SuperStrangSshadow You're right! I am going to have a look in settings and try and turn it off because you're right that it can completely ruin watching a video x
Dear Ruby, please tell me, do you plan to post your videos on other platforms? If so, please let me know. In Russia, there is now a massive restriction of access to the RUclips service, and it is becoming more and more difficult to watch videos (if anything, I used a translator to write this comment, so I apologize in advance for mistakes). For example, my videos haven't uploaded at all since today, despite the fact that I use a vpn and can access the site. It seems that such a gradual slowdown in the service will lead to a complete lockdown in Russia. It makes me extremely desperate to realize that now I don't know when I'll be able to see you again.😔 I've been watching your videos regularly for a year and a half now. Thank you so much for everything! I'm very happy that I met you once. My time with you was one of the best💛🕊️ Valentina
Sure... and she also did 10 years of unnecessary schooling… a masters of English and is working towards her doctorate just for the aesthetics✨ no one is that committed to their appearance
@emilielinstewart Ruby in the video said she is reading a 'newspaper' for the feel of it. That is what I was referring too. No need to get all defensive.
@Joel. Feel Ruby is talking about the experience of reading from a newspaper, similar to sometimes holding a physical book can be comforting. How has she gained her depth of knowledge without reading? Reading encompasses the reading and the actual experience of it which takes us to safer places. Ruby has an incredibly quick mind and focus. She's doing incredibly well.
Dear Ruby, I have watched so many of your blogs which are most exclusive minded.. It's my on request to to you to marry a British guy like you whose mind is exhausted like you...
It’s the difference between the text and the book-object which interests me more - the idea of reading for the book-object, which I do with this newspaper
@RubyGranger8 That was a lot of words for saying nothing, Ruby nor does it change what they said. If you're not reading to enjoy what you're reading then what is the point?
I interpreted it a bit differently. Ruby is never without something to read on her at all times (at least from what I can tell by her videos and her goodreads). She clearly loves reading… I took the clip of her reading the newspaper to be that it is fun to read a different format of text once and a while instead of a kindle, a book, or an academic paper where you’re looking at content in an expected way (from beginning to end). With a newspaper one can hop from article to article as one pleases
@RubyGranger8 So you want to appear that you’re reading a physical book to satisfy the book object interest but have no desire to comprehend or be engaged with the actual text you are reading. That makes zero sense for a literary student and aspiring writer. True writers and readers read to inspire ideas and thoughts, and get lost in fictional worlds. You just want to appear like you read books instead of gaining knowledge, insight or different perspectives, which comes across as extremely shallow and vain
So, books, newspapers, reading material are just interesting objects to you, but basically a prop. You don't actually like reading them. What they contain do not matter to you. You just want them, and to hold them, and to take pics with them. That is definitely the weirdest thing I've ever heard from someone who majored in English lit!
Thought you would have learned during your theology course that angels are not magical. Angels are spiritual and heavenly. Magic implies occult of which angels are not. There’s a big difference
Ruby, did you know that brown sugar is not really any better for you than white sugar? Perhaps you like the taste better in your coffee, but I don’t think it has any nutritional value, and it’s just another high glycemic carbohydrate. Sugar is one of the worst things for your body. It causes inflammation! When I was your age, though, I was using sugar and probably didn’t start using Stevia until 10 or so years ago.
A Skillshare for a Commonplace book?? Good grief 🙄 It's literally a notebook to jot down quotes that you can organize under topic headings if you so choose - it's not complex, lol. Cannot believe what people will waste money on.
Can't believe you are 24 and still living the life of a child. But making it your actual job was a wise choice, so you can keep up with the make believe that your life is and make a living out of it so you don't need to deal with your mental health problems. Of course all of this is possible mostly thanks to your whealthy parents that allow you to live the life you want
You’ve been such a huge source of happiness in my life, and it’s been over four years now since I started following you regularly! During that time, so much has changed for me-I’ve achieved my dream of pursuing an MBA abroad and grown in ways I never thought possible. Highly recommend Ruby's common place skillshare course! :) I have put this into practice for my own interests. Thank you Ruby!
Love the short story!🎄
This song „greensleeves“ gives me goosebumps. Thank you for sharing this 🦋 thanks to you, I listen to it regularly now

Ruby, if you haven’t seen the Narnia trail and house at Nymans near Haywards Heath go before it’s taken down in early January. It’s truly magical.
I haven’t! Oh that sounds magical! x
@RubyGranger8 it really is!
Cozy and warm as always ❤❤❤ thank you for this special Christmas mood
i'm a quiet follower but absolutely love, love, love the content as always. the vibes are so cosy and welcoming. also does anyone know the timer that is used at 11:31? i feel like i need that to help me concentrate and study!
I believe Ruby mentioned it in one of her videos! I just don't remember which one 😅 Sorry. Maybe one about stationary?
It's called the Minee timer! x
You have beautiful christmas tree🎄 Happy Christmas Ruby!🎆
Love these cosy vlogs. Thankyou Ruby! Have a wonderful Christmas time ❤

Best Christmas film EVER!!!
Omg your cousin has grown so much since last time she was on your channel😮 She looks really beautiful❣️
I ordered my planner before seeing the video tonight :)
The story You wrote is very good! I wish I could read it completely! Do You plan to put it up for sale?
I printed a few for a limited release on my website but they sold out within an hour (I didn’t print many!). I may make it available as a pdf though x

My book club has started commonplace books. It’s interesting how many common place notes enter our discussions
I love Little Women too and watch it every year around Christmas - do you too? Which version is your favorite? I like the 1995 version the best!
Always waiting for new videos!! Love you rubyy❤❤
Hi Ruby :) Will there be a digital version of the academic planner for 2025? I would love to have a PDF-version of it ❤
Yes there will be! X
@RubyGranger8 Nice, so cool! Thank you 😍
To me, your videos are ‘feel good’🤌
My dream is to live in the beautiful English countryside ❤ I would love to have the same house style, I hope one day to buy a house not very far from costwolds
Hi. If it was possible for you would you consider making in depth bookshelf tour?🙈😇. You have so many interesting books🥰
Ah that’s incredible to hear! I can’t wait to read it now! x

Was about to make the same comment about her cousin. Must be on her mum's side of the family?
Ah thank you so much for such lovely words! And my cousin gets that a lot actually! I definitely see it! I hope you have a lovely Christmas too!

Wow, this is the earliest I’ve been :)
Ruby, you have a great chance to get back on Goodreads on the 1st of January!🙏❤
She moved to storygraph!!! Not so overwhelming like goodreads
Is Le Petit 3 in French and/or English and may I subscribe from the USA?
My family also just rewatched Arthur Christmas! One of my favorite Christmas films. ❤
It’s just fantastic!
I made a commonplace book before I even knew what it was - it was cool to hear about it from you. Is there a way we can get a copy of your Christmas story?
It was on her blog for Purchase but sadly it is all sold out.
The snippet of your story is beautiful! Merry Christmas!
Please post your short story in a way we can buy it and then download…Merry Christmas!
Ah thank you! That means a lot!
I may make a pdf available on my website :) x
Will you be printing the short story for your shop at all? 😊

Girl just read an actual newspaper! Learning about current events will broaden your mind and improve your writing
Reading for the aesthetics of reading, as opposed to reading to be informed. It's all about exhibiting the aura of a connoisseur🧐✒
It's pretending to be intelligent and better than the peasants 😂. We all know that books are just accessories for Ruby to look smart
@AndNowIJustSitInSilence 🤣😂
Sure... and she also did 10 years of unnecessary schooling… a masters of English and is working towards her doctorate just for the aesthetics✨ no one is that committed to their appearance
