20 years later, this is still difficult to watch. The photo at the end was taken by my now wife at the Sunset Studies album launch. It was the last night I got to speak to Rob.
RIP Rob. Such an awful way to go. I feel for Rob's family, the band, and the friends and fans. And good on KB for bringing some light into the situation. I spend a lot of time in far East Gippsland, and pass the spot where it happened (from what I gather, anyway) quite often. So glad the boys have kept at it. And Glenn's newie 'Hi Gene" is a future classic! Peace x
There is no such place, O yes I have seen it too Just a little different from how you do, A river winding blue among the dunes And a marble bed A sun that doesn't set but settles. There is no such place. If I lower mine to yours Might you kiss me on the face? If you're looking for an unmarked place, There is no such place Blasted in appearance and A composite of fearful minutes Frozen in the waking instant Longing, Things I long for Peaceful nights, Strangers at the door, O come in, come in, You've been here before. There is no such place, So perhaps we have a reason For our long and falling face, Above all it would be warm But we would keep our heads all Clear as Winter, storms would be A sight to make us shiver But without the chill Of thinking all is hither-thither Longing, Things I long for Peaceful nights, Strangers at the door, O come in, come through the door, You've been here before, You've been here before There is no such place, O yes I have seen it too Just a little different from how you do, A house upon a hill with no windows Just a can upon the sill To catch your tears To feed your garden.
Heard this on Alchemy late one night back in 2001 or so. Taped it on VCR and then recorded it on my Sony mini-disc. Carried it with me to school most days. Reminds me of my late brother.
Both heartwarming and painfully beautiful. Of course just 34k views but theyve stuck at it for decades. It only affirms that this is not a band chasing fame and that authenticity bleeds through every album. Put me with those that wished they lived in a world that encouraged original artists like Augie March and their exceptional music. Surely the world is lesser for it, because as of now there is no such place.
That's why The Beatles started Apple Records back in '69; to find, encourage, and record new bands. Augie March would have been exactly who they were looking for!
@@Lee-nh5bb A lovely idea Leonie. I wish there was a band coming up right now that are like AM were in 1998...I can't think of one, but I will keep up the search! "-)
This is a song I'll always remember. I tasted beauty not knowing how much Id fall in love, hurting everyone on the way. It is a continuous flame that will never be seen or heard, but will never be extinguished. I never meant to hurt. And I never meant to fall in love as much as I did. I have watched your talents and beauty grow over the years, and cry inside for another day with you.....
got into augie march bout 3 years ago after seeing pennywhistle. got all their albums. love them to bits. made me pine for the town of my birth. melbourne... dream on
I listened to Sunset Studies on countless repeats on my discman back in the day. So nice to have found it here again and to be able to revisit all these beautiful songs - it's a stunning album! Thank you, Augie March!! I wish all the band is well and hope to see you live sometime.

An absolutely beautiful song. One to make you relish friendships and loved ones. This song takes me far away to sentimental thoughts. I wish the film clip would reflect the peacefulness this song expresses, not jumpy and edgy :\
An amazing song by a beautiful artist, never forgotten and loved always.

one of the greatest Australian bands of the modern era.
There is no such place,
O yes I have seen it too
Just a little different from how you do,
A river winding blue among the dunes
And a marble bed
A sun that doesn't set but settles.
There is no such place.
If I lower mine to yours
Might you kiss me on the face?
If you're looking for an unmarked place,
There is no such place
Blasted in appearance and
A composite of fearful minutes
Frozen in the waking instant
Longing, Things I long for
Peaceful nights,
Strangers at the door,
O come in, come in,
You've been here before.
There is no such place,
So perhaps we have a reason
For our long and falling face,
Above all it would be warm
But we would keep our heads all
Clear as Winter, storms would be
A sight to make us shiver
But without the chill
Of thinking all is hither-thither
Longing, Things I long for
Peaceful nights,
Strangers at the door,
O come in, come through the door,
You've been here before,
You've been here before
There is no such place,
O yes I have seen it too
Just a little different from how you do,
A house upon a hill with no windows
Just a can upon the sill
To catch your tears
To feed your garden.
I love reading along as I listen, my thanks.

@@danozism Yes, keep looking! Or, look back, and find some older music that's just as imaginative and original.
This is a crime that this has only 7000 plays
66.000!
I bought their cd when 2001 and now this is very nostalgic. I still miss many things at early 2000. There is no such place
And now 2018
There is no such place... Strangers at the door... So true yet so pain

it was 1999 man, jumpy and edgy was what you did
stupidly understated
A real gem, from a band that still likes to create beautiful things, check out new song: soundcloud.com/augiemarch/definitive-history
