Here is what gets me. How in the world did someone like Premier hear these samples and thought, "I could use this to make a beat." This is the mystery of why I fell in love with hip hop at age 10.
@@creationbeatsuk Exactly. Finding crazy sounding samples is easy in this day and age. What sets guys like Premier apart is how well they execute them to make a good beat out of it
Sampling is cool and all but I have to say a producer or beat maker that makes beats from other peoples musical art, MUST be able to make their own music also. You can’t just re play music at a different pitch in different stabs and say “this is my beat”. I’m sorry.
Why stop there? Playing music is cool buy can you make your own instrument? If not, you're just getting someone else's sounds, from someone else's tools. See how that works?
Oh boy, good job not every dope producer is following this 'rule', we'd have missed out on a lot of great sampled production otherwise... .....Every musician must invent their own instrument hey, you cant just use a guitar and call it your own sound🤔
How do you not appreciate the rearrangement, the recontextualisation of the samples, especially the Curtis Mayfield and Screaming Jay Hawkins? Those aren't merely loops with changed pitches, sir. Far from it. Try to flip samples yourself and you'll quickly find out just how much skill it takes to produce a dope result.
I feel that to some extent. I learned how to make beats from scratch 1st then I learned sampling later. But If u just find a sample/loop and don’t do nothing to it and just throw drums behind it then that’s cheating Fr. Every sample I used sounds like a whole different sound completely by the time I’m done wit it. I wouldn’t have to clear none of my samples because you would never know where it came from
It's always good to hear the producer explain his methods and inspirations
"even if you know how it works, it can still feel like magic"
I feel that

@@messiahblackgod whatchu mean what I mean? There are only a handful of masters on this level.
@@wallacehardiniii9038 some samples just jump out at you, it’s adding the rest of the background that mesh with the sample I have trouble with.

Not every song is completely original. Almost every song has sampled each other.
