You need to make freinds with hardwood flooring companies. They have the best, high quality scraps.
Thanks for inviting us into your shop tonight Del! Your little stray is a sweetie. Our little calico Bonnie is the biggest sweetie ever! Your little stray is a great addition to the shop and family! She needs a cool name… next video! I want to do a resonator, so I’m looking forward to your next video to see how your piezo placement effects the output. It’s good to see you building again Del!
I drill 2 holes where fret markers are going and use a cocktail stick and when you glue up just locate the sticks in holes and it will not slide about and then clamp where you need to job done Del wow I love that pot belly burner toastie
With those types of clamps, I alternate each one side to side and it seems to help keep the fretboard parallel to neck
You'll have to play a little stray cat strut to welcome the new member of your crew.
The window needs a counter flashing strip of metal channel that goes behind the metal siding, above the window and it covers the top of the window sill. You helped me with guitars, I helped you with that window leak.
yup … it’s on my list of things to do
Never a dull moment at the Puckett compound.
Cute kitty too!
Loving this build, and that saw is a scroll saw. 😊
I remember that someone used a couple of small nails, to help hold the fret board on.
I've done similar. Also saw someone use a sprinkling of coarse salt. I might try sand, next time I clamp up a scarf joint.
@@w13rdguy I have used table salt and it worked ok.
14:55 ... I've noticed you have to align the clamp pivot point almost dead on parallel (?) or directly across from the middle of how far the clamping ends will be apart from each other when they are set or the clamp will pull in the direction of how far above or below the mid point is (whew... took me a while to figure out how to say that)...
I now clamp the fretboard to the neck and drill two toothpick size holes where the 3rd and 15th fret dots will go, apply glue, push toothpicks into the holes , push the fretboard onto the toothpicks and clamp. Fretboard does not move!!
Fine collection of animals you've got goin' on there Del 🐾 Is your new workshop going to be doubling up as an Ark? 🤠 Keep that rain out fella
I found my missing clamps from my last move!
Wonder if when setting the fret board if you did a dry run. When perfect drill a small hole where a fret marker will go. Then when glued you could insert a wire nail through the hole into the neck; registering the fret board position when gluing. Then either fill the hole with a toothpick and burn as usual. Screw or insert a brass lino brad. Might even be able to burn the marker in advance and use the lino nail or toothpick to register the fret board.
Small can of water with a wet sponge for getting rid of the squeezed out glue. Try not to use a dry rag.
yup i agree
Do you think using a whole metal tin for the body would be too much resonating? I've seen metal tins about the same shape as cigar boxes... of course it wouldn't a cigar box guitar. I'd be like a Moonpie tin guitar, etc. lol
Make a "Harpoon Headstock", in honor of Randy Rhodes. ( I did).
Del’s cbg and stray cat 🐈⬛ gender assignment factory. I am with Del if the cat can’t make up its mind then it’s up to us to tell it what it is. Mmm interesting thought! Love the build video and happy Holy Days
heheheee
Was wondering... is gluing the piezio directly to the can top to noisy?
i think so
Would you not want to place the piezo directly beneath the bridge
not sure
I love your guitar builds, but I don't know about your electrical work. Stay safe!
me either
All of that glue on your finger looks like a sticky situation. Hagh!
That's a female cat, not a guy.
