That Stihl branded Ferris looks pretty cool. But its kinda shady they don't state the obvious when they talk about the mower. That should be the first thing in the intro when they pitch this. The Ferris design is so unique vs any other ZTR, its laughable if they don't give credit to Ferris.
Thank you it's good to be a sharp eye of machines. That way we can get the word out to these guys who are buying one thing thinking it's another.BLEZZ#KEEP DA CHANGE.
Weird, looks a lot like my Ferris as well. Meanwhile, every dealer I speak with can't order me a new Ferris, production problems, can't get engines, orders not be fulfilled for over a year, but these will be available in spring? Cool story
@Randy Martin I spoke with a Ferris rep who gave details on this after demoing the Stihl myself. They are built at the same plant. Stihl spec'd it out, but he said that basically it's the same unit with lights and a USB charger. Doesn't mean it's a bad unit.
From what I can gather, these mowers are custom-built by Ferris for Stihl. So not only are you paying more for the branding, I'm sure Stihl cheaped out in some places. So good luck taking it to the shop every 3 months.
Looks awfully familiar to my ferris, thanks for taking us along Brian! Stuck at home sick otherwise I would have been there, really appreciate all your videos!
I think they are but painted white and orange. We aren't getting these in the UK but our UK Stihl representatives have been told about the launch of them in the USA. We get the Stihl ride on tractors in the UK and their front engine tractors are made by another Austrian manufacturer AL-KO and they are pretty decent machines
That because Stihl and Ferris partnered together to created this super mower, I love Ferris, when I went to my ACE dealer They had The new Stihl on the Floor, and it will be my next Zero turn for sure, it even look better in person. the one thing this guy did not mention, he said that Briggs engine is one of the 2 engine that comes with this beast, but he forgot to say Brigg VANGUARD thats the Briggs engine that you get! "The Vanguard engine is one great engine"
Briggs/Ferris/ Snapper/Simplicity are all one company, Stihl contracted them to do the manufacturing for their design and specs. John Deere has used Briggs for lawn tractor and Homeowner Zero turn mowers for years. There are only a handful of lawn equipment companies everyone is a part or owned by someone else.
Exactly! Stihl completely went through design and manufacturing and revisited everything and also worked on the outer design (besides) the colors. So it really is an upgraded/redesigned Ferris/Snapper product. German design and US robustness, best of both worlds!
Ferris/Snapper/Simplicity can’t keep up with their own stuff. Now Ferris is making this Stihl well a Ferris with Stihl stickers. Why take a good mower and put Stihl stickers on it? Now it will be junk like the rest of the stihl products.
Lol they should’ve come out with a mower 20 years ago. Their over priced, barely offer fleet discounts, want everything sold at MSRP and financing is awful, won’t let you use Sheffield. They won’t sell many at the price point they want
@WarriorBear I am a Ferris owning, Scag living guy who works at an Exmark/Husqvarna dealership. From what I know of the industry (I was at the OPE show last year, 2 of our people were there today) this kinda-sorta shows some desperation on the part of Briggs. Any pricing information?? Interesting to see Stihl colors on a mower. Kinda disappointed that you need to go to the highest end commercial model for EFI. I hit up my Stihl dealer yesterday about them (they are also a Kubota dealer), and they didn't know they existed. I'm hearing that Stihl may only have them at places without other zero turn competition in the yard, so I may have to go to ACE Hardware. Very curious about the price point as we are getting a 60" zero turn this winter.....it was going to be a Kubota, but I would consider a Stihl with a Kawasaki engine but not at a higher price.
Right lmao, they make it seem like they were the designer, manufacturer and welded the thing together and shipped it there. I’ve noticed that with every booth 😂
I've been waiting for this for the longest. I carry nothing but Stihl and although Toro is my go to for mowers, it would be great to have the set finished of with a Stihl mower.
1 bought one . A972i cuts great very powerful with the vanguard. It dose scalp a little more than I would like. I’ve got 20 hours on it been it the shop twice for deck spindle problems. There is a washer between the blades and deck spindle that will deteriorate and cause it to cut uneven. Still looking for an answer for that.
Die hard Stihl product fan. I feel they are going to have a bit of a challenge keeping up with the big players. Props to Stihl for broadening their field of products!
I'm hearing Stihl is in the process of buying Briggs and Stratton, who owns Ferris. So not sure they have to work very hard to "keep up with the big guys".........
This is not good for steel it took you guys a long time to come out with a mower and then you couldn't even come out with your own mower you copied a ferris that's pretty simple and easy to do good luck with that
It’s basically a snapper pro/ Ferris. All mowers are basically the same it’s just either light, medium to heavy duty same engines transmissions only thing really different is the deck design most important is a good dealer support.
I own a ferris z2000 and I love it, will I be switching? No I like Red lol but props to this partnership. I live in NYS not to awful far from the factory and hope it puts more people to work.
Oy Vay, another contender in the commercial mower game 🙄 I'll keep my Ferris comments regarding the "unique" suspension, since so many others have already made theirs. The drive wheels look small, but I do like the sound of the 40 horse and oil guard, though.
Great looking mower. I like it since I have a stihl dealer right next to me as compared to the Farris which is a 1 hour driveway. I might look at my dealer and my demo one next year.
Don't forget RedMax has been able to bundle financing with handhelds and zero turns since 2017 AND you can finance as little as $500 of just RedMax handheld.
The zero turn mower market is highly competitive and saturated. I am a Stihl guy with the chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, and hedge trimmers. However, I don’t see Stihl making a dent in the zero turn market. Will only cut sales from Ferris dealers.
So it’s obviously a re-badged Ferris mower but is the deck different? I also couldn’t hear what the ground speed was or a mention or price point. Ferris is owned by Briggs and still use Kawasaki engines, that says a lot about the Kawasaki quality.
I think it's smart by Briggs to allow Kawasaki engines on their machines. I'm sure some guys won't buy it if it doesn't have a Kawasaki on it. I run the Ferris' with 2 Vanguard Big Blocks. Solid engines so far for me and 2 Kawasaki on my other 2 machines. Solid engines also..
You are correct and the deck does look different from the Ferris deck. It looks like the stihl deck has the front pointed down instead of at a slant like the Ferris icd deck. Also Ferris makes there deck in a 61 inch version, not 60 inch. Other than that it appears that the mowers are basically identical except for the rear end.
