@@noelckelly true. As he said it’s only been two races. I personally don’t like him since he ditched Renault for McLaren. Just seemed a money grabber. Had he stayed at Renault then Alpine I think he would’ve done much better. 2021 & 2022 Alpines were decent cars & he’d of done well in them. @@Kal_El1994 I'm actually a McLaren fan, but I can't argue with that at all. In my eyes, the downfall started when he left Red Bull, but he had a great opportunity at Renault and instead decided to beat Alonso for the "terrible career choices" award and completed the spiral. What could have been, man. I hope he turns it around, but I don't see it happening.

His race pace was same/slightly better in Race. In Saudi he struggled all weekend but they found issues with his car specifically so he didn't have the same car to Yuki. They hope they have addressed the issues so hopefully will see improvements from this weekend.

I think the big problem with Dan is that he's been racing in F1 from 2011 at some capacity and with that much experience, you do expect a little more consistency. We like to joke about Bottas a lot, but I've always felt as though he's a bit of a mentor figure to Zhou where that doesn't really exist in the RB team.
There is a lot of raw talent begging for seats on the grid and if a veteran of the sport isn't as consistent as someone who is fresh on the grid, that's a huge problem. Tsunoda is on his 4th year currently and though he has a couple of wobbles every now and then, I still think he's the safer bet on the team over Dan simply because he's younger, can continue to grow and has the very real opportunity to score points.
Dan needs to get his head down now, get a better grip of the car and start racing well; there's only so much you can put on the car when it comes to how badly you are doing and I think Alpine show that off quite well as both Ocon and Gasly are good, capable drivers that are able to drive their cack cars very well.
It seems then that Dan is here in the team because of his name and once that dries up, I fear for his position on the grid. Perhaps the RB car will improve over the coming months and they can start scoring some real points, but currently Dan is just looking rather weak and incapable.
It's early days, but the concerns I have for Dan going forward are quite high; I'm uncertain as to how much he's getting paid, but I'd argue you could put a rookie driver into the car and get similar results.

I want the old DR back. The one that was beating Vettel! He’s such a lovable guy it really kills me to see him struggle. But at the end of the day, racing is a sport that has no room for “good guys”. You need to perform and that’s all there is t9 it and in F1 it starts with your teammate.
I recall Max saying “I’m never going to let that guy (Perez) beat me ever again”. The team rivalry in racing is an absolute thing and it’s real and all the great ones are simply ruthless and have no room for mercy. It’s a key piece of why they are so good because they push themselves and they push everyone out of their way. It’s been true since man first climbed on horseback and said “race ya back to the barn”.

It sucks but unless he hits a MAJOR turnaround in form, Liam Lawson will be driving that car for the 2nd half of the season. I doubt they'd publicly embarass Daniel by straight up firing him, more likely they'd simply sign a contract with him that states he must feign an injury and Liam will take over. Assuming Liam does well, Daniel is forced to sign an NDA to receive the rest of the incentive money and is allowed to seek a drive with other teams. And by pay, I mean payments that'll start in the future as he's already getting paid for this year. Daniel could and probably would retire fully at the end of the year if this were to happen as it'd make sense to just take the money and go do something else he enjoys. But unless Checo pulls a Checo AND Daniel makes a massive upgrade in his form AND Yuki doesn't improve AND they decide to ignore Liam Lawson, Daniel isn't driving for the main team. Checo has proven that he's a good #2 historically speaking, and since he looks to be back on form thus far, they will likely keep him in that seat. He defends well and when he accepts his lot as the #2 he is an excellent teammate that will play the team game when necessary. I do think Max would prefer Daniel, Yuki, or Liam as a teammate though, mostly because he still seems to harbor some aggression towards Checo for the numerous times he's gotten up to nonsense (a probably deliberate crash at Monaco qualifying to prevent Max having the opportunity to take pole from him, most of last year honestly but particularly the race in the rain when Checo pushed him onto the grass and nearly caused him to crash out, etc) and would enjoy someone capable of somewhat keeping up with him a bit more on the track. Checo is a very good driver, but he does seem to occasionally pull a Carlos Sainz and believes he is and should be the #1 when all evidence shows the exact opposite.

I started watching F1 in 2021 and early in 2022 I already felt like he did not deserve to be on the grid and his marketability and his DTS star status was the only reason he remained on the grid in some capacity with Red Bull as a reserve driver in 2023. When Liam Lawson filled in it was clear Ricciardo didn’t deserve that seat, not saying Liam deserved it over him, but given his track record the previous 2 and a half years, it seemed a miracle that he still had a drive. He should’ve tried to make a move to Formula E or Indycar, he’s pretty popular in the US, that would’ve been a good move for him.

If the season goes as its started... Keep DR at VCARB as the senior redbull driver that Liam Lawson (replacing yuki) then learns from. He's still got huge value for any team with his setup knowledge and of course really marketable for any sponsors and team owners. If Redbull sell off more of VCARB, it's an easier sell with ricc/lawson. Perez then stays at Redbull as the no.2

Ricciardo’s time has come and gone. He is past his best and his stock has significantly fallen since 2018.
The last time he was a consistently strong driver was his last season at Renault in 2020. I've been pretty indifferent about DR3 mostly. I recognize the talent that he used to demonstrate, but honestly I chucked a lot of that to the Red Bull he was in. When he went to McLaren, I was ecstatic, I was hopeful that he would help the team get back on top, and mentor LN4 to boot. then we saw what happened. His lack of points cost McLaren 3rd in the championship to Ferrari. going in to 2022, I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt, only for him to do even worse. Halfway through that season I was done. He needed to pull some results if I was to back him again. Anytime I would say anything remotely critical of him online, his sycophants would loose their absolute minds, how dare I criticize the great DR3?!!?!?!?!
Another thing that really put me off of him was just how much the RBR cult and F1 media was forcing him down our throats. for the first half of last year, any RBR promo was him and Max, and checo was nowhere to be seen. At this point I just don't want to see him anymore. he's washed, and I've been saying that since 2022, now all of a sudden its popular to hate on him and all of his fans are finally seeing the truth behind the smile. That truth is that if you give him a car that is fully suited to him, he might put down some decent results, but if the car is not in his window, he cannot drive it fast. he has no adaptability.
