IS 456: 2000 is Indian National Building code. National building codes have been formulated in different countries to provide guidelines for the design and construction of structures. The codes evolved from the collective wisdom of expert structural engineers, gained over the years. These codes are periodically revised to bring them in line with current research, and often, current trends. 456 represent here for Plain and Reinforced Cement Concrete and 2000 represent the revised year.

Shall u say that, what is the number IS 456 and 2000
Sir I am asking what is 456 in is code. is there any background for that code numbers?
IS 456: 2000 is Indian National Building code. National building codes have been formulated in different countries to provide guidelines for the design and construction of structures. The codes evolved from the collective wisdom of expert structural engineers, gained over the years.
These codes are periodically revised to bring them in line with current research, and often, current trends.
456 represent here for Plain and Reinforced Cement Concrete and 2000 represent the revised year.
okay, why they numbered only 456, why they couldn't choose any other number like 24, 37.....
ramu parimi you have to this question to who actually found the is 456.. there was a PLENTY number of code book each book is denoted in different number which is used for the reference that's it ... it is just a number there is nothing logic behind this number
